Advantages Advantages Slob out TV at its best!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Often repeated themes get somewhat monotonous...

    * The Man himself * My friends despise him, my boyfriend cringes when he hears his voice and my pet hamster hides away in his fluff at the sight of him. But please, hear me out, The Jeremy Kyle Show is the way forward. 41 year old Jez started off his broadcasting career on Birmingham's BRMB and after a few years of Frasier style radio shows, Jeremy hosted a show on Capital radio called 'Capital Confessions', much in the style of his current TV show. Old Jez has had a fair few problems in his life too and his commentary on other people's lives is often informed from personal experience. His ex ... more

Advantages Advantages Makes You Feel Good About Yourself

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Full of Scum

Let me first describe a little bit about Jeremy Kyle as this is his show after all. His media career started in radio broadcasting. Initially he was a part time life insurance salesman and involved in radio advertising and through this channel of work he secured a job at Invicta FM in 1996. Then he moved through the many radio stations having stints at Virgin Radio and Capital FM. Then in 2005 his popular Jeremy Kyle radio show was transferred into a morning TV show with the same name. If you have seen shows like Trisha and Jerry Springer and shows of that sort then this is essentially what ... more

Advantages Advantages Jezza certainly doesn't hold back!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Where do I begin . . .

The eponymously baptized "Jeremy Kyle Show" has become something of a legend in recent times. The format is simple - suitably self-important, insensitive host invites various "disadvantaged" members of the British public onto his show to sort out their (numerous) scrapes. It certainly doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that the ideal person to present a programme like this would require not only a certain toughness, but a little flexibility, compassion and the ability to recognise that their initial judgement was perhaps a little inaccurate. Unfortunately, our Jeremy possesses none of ... more

    Advantages Advantages Daily Express-baiting madness

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Daily Express-baiting madness

Everyone’s heard of the Jeremy Kyle Show (ITV 2) by now. A judge has called it a form of human bear-baiting and it recently caused another furore by ‘inadvertently’ broadcasting a swear word. The format is simple enough. Kyle, who looks like a cross between a particularly miffed warthog and a premiership footballer whose name I don’t know, invites contestants (‘guests’ is too genteel a word) onto the show to thrash out deeply personal problems in front of a TV audience of a few million, in exchange for his sagely advice and a night in a cheap hotel in Manchester with free run of the mini-bar ... more

Advantages Advantages Sometimes they have the rare good episodes

Disadvantages Disadvantages Repetitive on the same old problems

Jeremy Kyle show is meant to be a chat show with guests appearing to talk about various problems in their lives and then the host Jeremy Kyle goes ahead and tries to find the truth and ways to patch up the problems. Well this is how it was described to me but sadly I fail to see the reason behind the show. The host to begin with might be someone is not afraid to voice his opinion but sometimes you wish he would shut up and let the guests speak. During a show you could find a couple bickering and he interferes with his yelling and his constant shouting at the guests and he usually picks a ... more

Do you realise The Jeremy Kyle show has been going for 5 years! 5 years for 5 days a week! Surely he's covered a good percentage of the population so far! Jeremy Kyle is a former radio presenter who someone obviously thought had a face for television, and so it seems to have worked. His show follows the general concept of talk shows, one presenter and lots of members of the public, that's us sitting in front of the PC reading this! He gets these members of the public on the telly and gets them to air their views, well that used to be what happened! Now it's managed to devolve into people ... more

Advantages Advantages Can make you feel better about yourself

Disadvantages Disadvantages at the expense of others' failures.

Jeremy Kyle is an ex-gambler, ex-alcoholic, ex-radio presenter and current TV presenter who suffers from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. His show is one of the best known shows in the UK and it's been brought over to the US. Instead of holding his peace, Jeremy Kyle speaks his mind, often in an aggressive manner. But he's got security guards and an audience behind him and the show exposes their guests as rotten chavs. If he hadn't have had all those people behind him, he'd probably keep his mouth shut. Some people will do anything for their fifteen minutes of fame, particularly with those ... more

Advantages Advantages funny, easy to watch!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some of the guests could well be faked!!!

Introduction The Jeremy Kyle show is a sort of chat show, counselling show, hosted by Jeremy Kyle, a self confessed ex gambling addict. It is on weekday mornings on ITV1 between 9.30am and 10.30am, and usually takes place on a stage in Manchester with a live studio audience. Jeremy Kyle Show started in 2005 and was an instant hit with the daytime TV audience, aimed at those out of work, full time mothers and housewives, and students. I myself am part of that group, and do sometimes watch the show in a morning. The aim of the show is to help families, friends, couples to get through problems ... more

    Advantages Advantages None at all

Disadvantages Disadvantages Far too many to list

In my student days way back in the 1990's there was nothing I used to like better than getting up for 9:20 am and watching 'The time, the place' a topical yet informative early morning discussion show. Over the years there have been different chat show formats at this time of day on both BBC and ITV, I would assume that the logic of this is that parents have taken their kids to school and can then watch a lively chat show before they start the business of the day. I had heard a lot about Jeremy Kyle before watching his show and was aware of his reputation as a formidable 'Shock Jock' ... more

As a single mum, I’m not ashamed to say that I spend a lot of time in the mornings at home, with nothing other to do that watch daytime TV while my daughter attends nursery, and while I’m sure watching chat shows isn’t exactly intellectual, it is something entertaining to watch while doing the hovering, and my favourite of all the chat shows is Jeremy Kyle. The show itself is much like any other chat show in the topics it deals with – such issues as affairs, drugs, alcoholism, family feuds, and of course lie detector tests and DNA results. What make the show different in my mind from many ... more
