My Jessops Experience

AdvantagesWilling to Haggle, Excellent Service All Round.

DisadvantagesNone

"...me in the direction of Jessops so I paid a visit to their Web site. The camera I decided upon was the Canon A40 (review coming up after Christmas) It is pitched to those that want to just point and click but also allows for experimentation with its manual settings. This is more than adequate for a first foray into Digital Photography. Jessops were competitive on price (£229.00) with other high street retailers. I also checked out a couple of Web ..." This is where the flashers go

AdvantagesQuality snaps, Reasonable pricing, Good service

DisadvantagesDigital service not open to all.

"...this year when I used Jessops for the first time. Jessops were formed in the 1930's on a small scale and back then were very much a specialist company with few customers but have grown gradually through the decades. Today they have over 200 shops nationwide one of the largest companies of it's kind, are continuing to grow and are beginning to corner the niche in the photographic high street industry. Jessops has been voted best photographic retailer ..." Read review

Jessops photo CD made my scanner obsolete

AdvantagesFive different sizes for each photograph

DisadvantagesCan't think of any

"...The great benefit of the Jessops CD is that all the files are the JPG format, ensuring that the vast majority of programs can access and work with the files. But having the files in five different sizes, greatly reduces the need for changing them anyway. I've never been too pleased with the APS format, because the smaller prints always seem such a waste when you could use the panoramic setting, whereas the panoramic setting never really seemed ..." Jessops in-store digital photo printing

Advantagesgood choice of photo sizes, good prices for next day printing

Disadvantagesno instant printing (at least one hour for most items)

"...Doncaster and Sheffield branches of Jessops but should be attributable to any branch with in-store developing kiosks. My experience of the in-store developing from digital media is very good. The Jessops branches that I use have a bank of touch screen machines (kiosks) for you to develop your digital pictures. Each store has several such machines so you never have long to wait (if at all) to use one. The machines take a wide variety of memory ..." Read review

JESSOPS - Another Viewpoint!

AdvantagesLocal. Get to see & touch most products. Polite. Helpful. Value.

DisadvantagesNONE.

"...from my local branch of Jessops and although they didn't have it in stock at the branch, they very quickly were able to check their system, confirming that one was available indeed available from their warehouse. I paid for the item in full upon ordering and it was in the store for collection within two days whereupon they very promptly telephoned me to let me know - All at a price LOWER than ANY of their competitors. In my experience - HIGHLY ..." Read review

My experience of Jessops.

Advantagescheap

DisadvantagesYou can't go back and take those photographs again

"...why. I used to work in Jessops (post graduating, loans up to my elbows and those necessary bills to pay, then your dignity has to tumble), and although I have fond memories of my time there, I plead with you to think twice before you pop into your local store to get your films developed. When I first joined, I believed that I would be working for a professional company (I had my degree show pictures developed and enlarged with Jessops, after ..." Read review

Avoid placing online order during X'mas and New Year time

AdvantagesThe posters are great!

DisadvantagesAvoid placing online order during X'mas and New Year time

"...Year busy time. I contacted Jessops on 4/1/2012 and they gave me a tracking number, however, the Royal Mail's trace&tracking status is "undefined". Then I requested Jessops to reprint my order on 6/1/2012. Jessops didn't send the email to me about the reprint order's dispatch date. I contacted them again on 9/1/2012 and they told me they posted the reprint posters to me on 6/1. Finally, I receive my posters on 12/1/2012. It tooks so long time ..." Read review

Smashed Camera screen and refused to exchange or refund

Advantagesnone

Disadvantagesthreatening, intimadating, refused, bad customer service, rude.

"...year on prints, equipment, lenses etc from Jessops until I decided to purchase a small compact digital camera for my fiance. I purchased a fuji compact camera from the store and took it home, wrapped it and gave it to my fiance, only when she opened it and turned it on did we find that the screen was damaged well not just damaged but had a large crack and broken screen. On looking at the product we realised it was scuffed, and scratched. As a photographer ..." Read review

Poor Service to be expected at Jessops

AdvantagesDecent competitive prices

DisadvantagesPoor service, lack of expertise, lack of unbiased advice, do not value customer service.

"...Pentax K-R (fantastic camera) from Jessops (competitve price and like to get hands on.) It is some time since I made a significant purchase from Jessops but I recall my past experience been quite positive. Oh well one can only assume that customer service is low down on Jessops priority list. Whilst the product has left me feeling very satistied I was extremely disappointed by the poor service I received. To summarise my experience was as follows; a) ..." Read review

Unacceptable customer service & faulty product

Advantagesnone

DisadvantagesSlow, poor customer service, bad quality products, inappropriate packaging

"...10x8 80% grey card from Jessops online for testing light. For starters, it arrived almost a week late (I was told it would be next day delivery) and bent in half due to unsuitable packaging and no message to say "do not bend". You can't test light with a bent card, it gives the wrong readings, and considering it was for a project, I needed the readings to be correct and to finish this section relatively quickly. To return or exchange goods to Jessops ..." Read review

Jessops photo developing

AdvantagesNone

DisadvantagesVery poor quality prints

"...I have been happy with Jessops developing my films, but having recently had two films developed at the Cambridge branch I wont be going back again. Both films had a significant number of prints with white lines on one edge because the machine had either mis-cut or mis-printed them. On closer inspection I also noted that EVERY print had cropped a significant area (at least 10%) from around the edge of the photo (c.f. the negatives). On complaining ..." Read review

Poor service provision

AdvantagesGood service if you know what you want.

DisadvantagesIgnorant staff

"I have used Jessops on several occasions to develop films and have tried their 'Jessops' photo-CD as I like to email pictures to friends and family. I found the quality of their own brand CD to be sadly lacking when compared to the alternative Kodak Photo CD. I recently asked my partner to drop some films in to one of their branches and to get prints and a Kodak CD with each film. When I collected the developed pictures I found I had Jessops CD's ..." Great pictures from their easy to use web service

AdvantagesWebsite easy to use, very reasonable prices

DisadvantagesTakes a long time for pictures to upload

"Having received an e-mail from Jessops for 50 free prints I decided to give them a try. I went onto their website and uploaded the photos onto my account that I wanted to print which was very simple to do. I then paid for the postage (£1.49) and the photos had to upload following payment. This took quite a while to do, approx. 15 minutes. After 2 days my photos arrived. I was very impressed with the quality of the pictures and the paper ..." Read review
