...me in the direction of Jessops so I paid a visit to their Web site. The camera I decided upon was the Canon A40 (review coming up after Christmas) It is pitched to those that want to just point and click but also allows for experimentation with its manual settings. This is more than adequate for a first foray into Digital Photography.
Jessops were competitive on price (£229.00) with other high street retailers. I also checked out a couple of Web ... ...to take with me to Jessops as none of the Web sites could guarantee delivery prior to Christmas.
The Shopping Experience – My local Jessops store had 4 of the Canon A40’s in stock and on a busy final Saturday before Christmas the service was prompt even though there were around 7-8 people in the small store. I asked the assistant if I could take a look at the Canon and he got me a complete boxed version from the storeroom. He talked me through the ...

...this year when I used Jessops for the first time.
Jessops were formed in the 1930's on a small scale and back then were very much a specialist company with few customers but have grown gradually through the decades. Today they have over 200 shops nationwide one of the largest companies of it's kind, are continuing to grow and are beginning to corner the niche in the photographic high street industry. Jessops has been voted best photographic retailer ... ...countless hourdes of others and Jessops are well aware of this. In the past my pictures have been poorly developed or have been poor quality countless times but the three times I have used Jessops now, my pictures have been top quality. As an amateur photographer that is all I am looking for really - consistently good quality snaps time after time and Jessops in my experience are the only service out there up to the job. They process the standard ...

Advantages: Five different sizes for each photograph Disadvantages: Can't think of any
...The great benefit of the Jessops CD is that all the files are the JPG format, ensuring that the vast majority of programs can access and work with the files. But having the files in five different sizes, greatly reduces the need for changing them anyway. I've never been too pleased with the APS format, because the smaller prints always seem such a waste when you could use the panoramic setting, whereas the panoramic setting never really seemed suitable ... ...you can upgrade the free Jessops film to a Kodak, or whatever other brand you require for a small fee - you just pay the retail difference between Jessops and your favoured brand. Its so good not to have to scan all the photos in myself, I wish I'd discovered the service a couple of years ago. Highly recommended service in my view. ...Doncaster and Sheffield branches of Jessops but should be attributable to any branch with in-store developing kiosks.
My experience of the in-store developing from digital media is very good. The Jessops branches that I use have a bank of touch screen machines (kiosks) for you to develop your digital pictures. Each store has several such machines so you never have long to wait (if at all) to use one.
The machines take a wide variety of memory cards ... ...you are a member of Jessops Picture House online store you can also upload the pictures from the machine to your account. The prints that I have had done there have been exceptionally good quality with vibrant colours and on good quality paper. The first time I got pictures developed through those machines were about 4 to 5 years ago and the colours on those prints have lasted without fading. I have been extremely pleased with all of the photos developed ...

I paid for the item in full upon ordering and it was in the store for collection within two days whereupon they very promptly telephoned me to let me know - All at a price LOWER than ANY of their competitors.
In my experience - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

...I used to work in Jessops (post graduating, loans up to my elbows and those necessary bills to pay, then your dignity has to tumble), and although I have fond memories of my time there, I plead with you to think twice before you pop into your local store to get your films developed.

For starters, it arrived almost a week late (I was told it would be next day delivery) and bent in half due to unsuitable packaging and no message to say "do not bend". ...I have been happy with Jessops developing my films, but having recently had two films developed at the Cambridge branch I wont be going back again. Both films had a significant number of prints with white lines on one edge because the machine had either mis-cut or mis-printed them. Advantages: Good service if you know what you want. Disadvantages: Ignorant staff
I have used Jessops on several occasions to develop films and have tried their 'Jessops' photo-CD as I like to email pictures to friends and family. I found the quality of their own brand CD to be sadly lacking when compared to the alternative Kodak Photo CD.
I recently asked my partner to drop some films in to one of their branches and to get prints and a Kodak CD with each film. When I collected the developed pictures I found I had Jessops CD's ... ...available from slide film.
If Jessops own staff don't provide accurate information to customers how can customers hope to get the service they require. I have a some very nice slides I cannot share or get prints from as ...

Having received an e-mail from Jessops for 50 free prints I decided to give them a try.

I had a terrible experience with Jessops. Enough for me to vote with my feet and never go in any of their shops again, and to tell everyone how bad they are.
