    Advantages Advantages quick, easy, convenient

Disadvantages Disadvantages stupid lid on plastic lemons is prone to snap

Since it's pancake day today I am going to write about the perfect pancake accompaniment - Jif lemon! Now I always put lemon and sugar on my pancakes - I can't be doing with all this maple syrup nonsense- and I suppose ideally I would use fresh lemon, but I always keep bottled lemon juice in the house, so there's no need to go and buy extra. Anyway, using bottled helps save time squeezing your own- OK, OK so I know it only takes five seconds to juice a lemon, but I'm lazy, I admit it, but let's face it, this way's a lot less messy! Jif Lemon comes in either a green glass bottle or in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Great to stop fruit turing brown in fruit salads

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None!

We always have a bottle of this jif lemon juice in our cupboards. My boyfriend likes to take a fruit salad to work with him everyday as he is on a diet and trying to be more healthy. He has always hated the fact that if he makes the fruit salad the night before, or even in the morning before work, the apple, pear and banana always goes brown! He looked up a solution to this problem and was recommended to pour a bit of lemon juice over the fruit and this would stop it going brown! I can tell you that this deffinately works! After making the fruit salad we just sprinkle a small amount of lemon ... more

Lemon juice isn't really a neccesity in my household, however it's nice to know that there's a bottle in the cupboard incase we do need some for whatever reason, whether it be for baking -lemon drizzle cake isn't the same without some jif lemon juice mixed into the icing!, making a drink - water with a tablespoon of lemon juice does wonders for the digestive system & doesn't taste bad either.. or even health - lemon juice promotes healing and is an anti bacterial. It's handy stuff to have and Jif is a brand i've been familiar with since I was a kid - I can remember it making an appearence ... more

Advantages Advantages Preservatives, not as good as fresh juice

Disadvantages Disadvantages Preservatives, not as good as fresh juice

Jif Lemon: Who hasn't heard of Jif Lemon? From the iconic green bottle or the even more iconic plastic lemon bottle to the adverts advising us to "not forget the pancakes on Jif Lemon Day" it's a brand I am sure most of us are aware of! I always used to go for the 55ml plastic lemon bottles as I found them kitsch and a bit fun but I noticed that sometimes the lids (quite flimsy flip lids) didn't provide an airtight seal and as a result the contents didn't last so well even to the point of mould! I now go for the green and yellow 250ml bottles and whilst they're not as cute as the lemons they ... more

--- A classic must have ingredient that belongs in every household fridge --- Jif Lemon - Natural Strength Lemon Juice is an essential ingredient in our household and its versatility means it's as important as beard, milk or eggs. The product is natural with an additional preservative. Jif Lemon is has always been a guest in both my house and when growing up as a child. Traditionally I remember the lemon juice being in a yellow plastic shaped lemon container and always being out on Pancake Day. --- What exactly is a lemon? --- A lemon is a yellow fruit and the word lemon is the common name for ... more

Jif Lemon. It's been around for years in the distinctive plastic lemon bottle. What do you get? Well, actually it's lemon juice. So how much can you say about a plastic lemon full of lemon juice? Well, apart from its iconic status as a British culinary tradition these make great water pistols. We used to wait for my mum's one to become empty, refill it with water and go into action. The covert nature of a water pistol disguised as fruit made this ideal for playing spy games. Ah, those were the days. Nostalgia ain't what it used to be. These days the Jif Lemon appears regularly on shrove ... more

Jif lemon. I meant to write this review in time for Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day….. Never mind. Did you have Jif lemon on your pancake last week? I did hubby had bought some and insisted on pancakes. Jiff lemon comes in a squeezable yellow lemon plastic container shaped like a lemon . It contains 55ml of juice. It also comes in a glass bottle the glass bottle contains more lemon juice. Jiff lemon juice was first made in a lemon shaped bottle in 1956 or 57. Reckitt & Colman made jif lemon juice first then sold out to Unilever not sure of the year. The price is fairly good it costs £0.45p from ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap. Convenient. Tastes like freshly squeezed lemons.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

Jiff Lemon Juice is just one of those things that you absolutely have to have in your fridge because it's just a staple ingredient that can be used so much in cooking and in drinks. I'm never really without a bottle and although I only add a splash here and there, it does make all the difference. It may be a little cliche but I do feel that it's absolutely best use is on freshly made pancakes with a little sugar, but it's also good to add a splash in a glass of Coke or even to add a dash to a chicken casserole. A bottle, which contains 250mls is fairly cheap, and I recently bought a bottle ... more
