    When it came to using up some gift vouchers from a prize I won it was time to make good use and spend them, as we were expecting a baby we decided that the most sensible option was to purchase some baby items. As we did not have a store very local to us we combined this with a short break away that we had but really struggled to decide what to spend the vouchers on and ended up using the website to use up our remaining vouchers.     I intend to concentrate on my recent purchase from John Lewis direct, however I did find that the stock here is as comprehensive as their High Street stores. The lay out and content of the pages is excellent and the entire online shop is extremely easy to use. I'd previously researched the item I needed to buy, a cooker, my existing 16 year old was dying in a slow and unpredictable way and I knew exactly the make and model I wanted.     John Lewis Direct is the online arm of the John Lewis Partnership, perhaps more usually renowned for their department stores in large shopping centres. Rather like their physical stores, the site has a pleasing, upmarket feel to it; there's nothing brash or cheap about the look. The prices, though, are often very competitive, and since there's free delivery, there are no extra charges to worry about. TVs in particular can be a great buy: they offer a 5 guarantee included - elsewhere this may cost anything from £15 [for a small TV at Richer Sounds] to over £100.     Absolutely abysmal service on home delivery from John Lewis. I am staggered at this, having provided an amount of consultancy to this company on the small matter of customer service, no less. Of course previously I've dealt with seniors within the company. I agree with all the customers who are left fuming at their experiences. Like many others I booked a named day delivery and paid for the privilege. named day came, and only part of the order arrived. These were accessories for an iPod.     I recently bought a guest bed from John Lewis online. Their website is clean, easy to use and navigate, with good, detailed information about their products. It also has pictures of the items from various angles, which was very helpful. The ordering page is secure, and payment was easy to make - however they do not charge your account until the item has been dispatched. This is specified when you order.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly overpriced, but they do offer price match!

    I ordered a cat and mouse ornament through John Lewis Direct, and after finding out that it was cominh by Royal Mail, I must say I was rather worried, and invisioned many calls to the customer services number. Needless to say, the item arrive 2 days into its Free Standard Delivery withing 5 Days, and it was superbly packaged. I opened a massive box with glee for bins about 10 air bags surrounding my delicate ornament. I could not have been more happy with the service.     I set up this nursery gift list for my sister-in-law's baby shower. As we have many relatives in Australia I thought this would be an ideal way for them to buy a gift efficiently. The list was put on a month before the baby shower, I ordered with little problem on-line and was also able to add a message for my gift when it arrived. Perfect I thought! On the day of the shower we had someone in the house for the annoying, but somewhat common, 10-5pm delivery slot. A delivery came but low and behold not all the gifts were included!     the delivery department is totally incompetent. They turned up to deliver my furniture and it turned out it wasn't even on the van, so they obviously don't bother checking they've got all the right items on board. After several calls to customer services, it emerged that the item hadn't even arrived at the depot - so they clearly don't bother checking items into the depot either. And as for customer service, you will end up talking to a different person every time you call and being kept on hold (at your own expense !)     I bought a Sharp television from John Lewis Direct in January this year. A fault developed and John Lewis advised me to contact Sharp. This I did. My television has now been with Sharp for 7 weeks. They now advise me that they cannot repair it, but that it will be replaced "in due course". During this time, John Lewis Direct has been totally unable, or unwilling, to help me. Any results I have achieved have been due to my own efforts. I am totally disgusted by the whole affair. T.     Bought a dishwasher which arrived damaged, replaced it but the delivery firm would not tak back the old one. After it was taken back I got £30.00 compensation after a fight with unhelpful call centre staff. I wrote to head office and had an apology and wil try again - maybe! One thing I found back was that the deliveries are not very flexible
