I shopped at John Lewis for my first time, last year. Before I shopped there I had heard various stories and reports of this store. As I have written about John Lewis before in my Wedding List review I will not write a 4000 word essay, mainly because it will bore you and my fingers will fall off. I am basing all my assumptions on just the stores I have visited (around 4), of which mostly is the one in Milton Keynes. Have used john lewis since before I was married, where it was the ONLY place you bought materal for bridesmaids outfits, as I did. That was in the 70s, the service was second to none and their reputation was beyond doubt. I remember some years later opening the very carefully packed box, packed with much tissue and even more care.... containing our expensive treat to ourselves.... hand made curtains for our small lounge. John Lewis as a name conjures up images of grandeur in many peoples minds and they instantly shrink away from the thought of buying from this fantastic store. There is a myth about John Lewis charging higher prices for their goods. The numbers around teh store tend to be higher than many other shops simply because there is a high priority on quality. Other places will often tempt you by a cheaper brand, wheras John Lewis often stocks the same brands ...

I have visited John Lewis for as long as I can remember. It has always been a store that sell the highest quality goods from perfume to furniture. I have bought items of clothing there also and have on one occasion had to return an item due to shrinkage. They were really helpful and refunded my money without a quibble.
