    Advantages Advantages great gas mileage

Disadvantages Disadvantages discontinued, hi-cost maintenance parts

After recently returning my friend's Mazda RX7, I was in need of a car to move around with, and I got a Kia Pride at next to nothing (US $100). I figured what the heck. The car is a four door hatchback and mine came with a 1300cc engine, no power steering, automatic and air conditioning. Perfect for a fixer-upper quick-money-bringer. In terms of looks, you can't do much worse (if at all). This car is square - even Scion doesn't have a car this square and boxy, and this car was probably the inspiration for Nissan's cube. Inside, this car is a bad 80's flashback - grey interior, square, straight ... more

Advantages Advantages very cheap to run

Disadvantages Disadvantages can give trouble in the wet.

I got a Pride S in November last year as my other car is a nissan patrol and I needed something that would do more than 20 miles to tha gallon. since then I have done over 25000 miles in my wee kia and get around 45 to the gallon. The only problem I have had with it is due to the location of the ignition coil which is prone to getting wet. I have had to clean it and squert WD40 all over it and in the end resorted to covering it with a plastic bag to keep the water from splashing up onto it. I have been so impressed with the value for money that this car gives me I will get another when this ... more

    Advantages Advantages GREAT CAR, CHEAP

    Disadvantages Disadvantages NONE

This car has got every thing that you will ever need in a small car. It is quite nippy, got a decent acceleration, enjoyable to drive. You can even get a decent MPG out of it. This is one of the cheapest cars on the market ! It even offers electric windows. This car normally costs about 3-4000 GBP and is good fun! If you just want a car for popping to and fro then this is the car for you. Mi Brother has recently bought his one and doesn't regret a penny of the money that he spent on buying it!! ... more

Advantages Advantages reliable , cheap , nippy

Disadvantages Disadvantages weak chasis and body , gear ratios

Let`s start from technical parts: It has a 1.3 liter engine with maximum torque of 115 N.m and 69 bhp. Because of low weight of car this car has a good acceleration.Even in 1750 rpm it has enough torque to drive easily. Brakes are very good and you won`t be dissapointed at all. But something that I really don`t like it is : gear ratios For example the gear ratio of 4th gear is 0.86 so the car has a very slow acceleration in 4th and 5th gear. However this helps fuel consumption and keep it low. There aren`t any other complaint with technical parts. about interior I must admit that it is very ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap to run, reliability

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

We have had our Kia pride for 3 years now. We purchased it as a used car when it was 2 years old. In the 3 years we have had it, we have had no problems at all. We found it to be very reliable and very cheap to run. It does 44 miles to the gallon, and has never let us down, and it has enough poke to get you anywhere fast, my husband has had 90mph out of it very comfortably. It has gone through 3 mot`s with nothing wrong, and has never let us down. When you compare the prices of kia`s to those of the likes of ford and vauxhall you will see a big difference. Our little kia even has electric ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap to buy (cos no one wants em!!), reliable, decent engine

Disadvantages Disadvantages looks like a reject from 20 years ago!!

I started driving my Kia pride last year when my dad bought one for me to learn to drive in. It sounded good V reg (1999/2000), only 30,000 miles, metallic blue, electric windows for only £1300. Then i saw it! Its previous owner was a farmer who totally knackered it. Multiple scratches, rust, and muck everywhere! After 2 months of cleaning though it looked ok inside and out (even though it looks like it was around late 80s/early 90s). I thought i had made a huge mistake not buying a car myself as there were several things wrong with it: the seat not going far enough back for my legs even ... more

I am still a learner driver and my mum gave me her Kia Pride its a bit rusty as my sister had it for 6 years then my mum had it for 4 years in all those 10 years it has never failed an MOT and the parts for it are cheap if anything needs replacing as it has the same parts as a Mazda but looking for certain parts in my area is very time consuming as there is not many Kias about but when you do find the parts they are very cheap. The kia is a small car and very reliable the only time it has gave me any hassle in the time i have had it since Nov 03 its now late may 04 is when we got loads of damp ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Easy to fix, loads of space and pleasant to drive.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Prone to rust, needing to shop around for parts and it looks funny as a van.

I have been driving my Kia Pride since the start of the Year and I have to admit.... I Love the thing. Check out www.japarts.co.uk The link works, I'm on it now. It's a site that site that sells all Kia parts quite cheaply. If you know of someone who can fit tha parts for, this way works out quite cheap. My Pride is a fantastic piece of engineering. It must be near 15 years old and is working fantastically, Flew through the last MOT and is driving like a dream. I'm currently doing a basic vehicle maintenence course, so fitting any new parts will be quite easy, thus the little Kia will continue ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap, easy to drive, perfect first car.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no power steering.

i am currently learning to drive and my kia pride is perfect for me to drive around in in between lessons. i was given this car as a present from a relative, and she assured me that she has never had any major problems with it the whole 13 years she has been driving it. it is a small, yet perfectly formed little car, easy to drive and relatively cheap to run. the insurance only costs me £60 a month as a learner, although i know this will go up when i pass. although this car isnt the most good looking car in the world, i am quite happy with it. it gets me from A to B so i can not complain too ... more

Advantages Advantages fuel economy, comfort, looks.

Disadvantages Disadvantages rust, lack of power from alternator

I started off with a 1983 series III Landrover, just after I passed my driving test. But it started to break down on a weekly basis, therefore I went looking for a nice safe, cheap reliable car. So far (touch wood) I havnt had many problems, apart from the fanbelt slipping, the alternater seems a bit too small to power the car. The only thing I was a bit concerned about was the unusual amount of rust, in unusual places for a 3 yr old car. But I can get about 35 miles per gallon. I do about 80 mile every weekend and it hasnt let me down. Nice interior, good acceleration, but not too powerfull ... more
