Creosote has been banned for sale to and banned for use, since June 30th 2003. The ban is because of recent research showing that the use of creosote is more likely to cause cancer than previously thought. There is no direct ban on owning creosote (only on using it), but anyone who still has stocks should ensure they have safely disposed of any unused creosote by the end of June last year (2004).
