Advantages Advantages durable, practical and versatile

    Disadvantages Disadvantages quite expensive

Upon moving into my house nearly a year ago my partner suggested that we get kardean flooring on our lower ground floor. I had never before heard of this brand so decided to investigate it further, I visited the brand website and from there ordered samples of the designs I liked. It took about a week for the samples to arrive and I also received a brochure explaining benefits of this product and showing the full range available. We decided to go for woodplank from the Knight-Tile Range in the Sienna colour which is similar to a natural rosewood look. We made the decision to have the planks ... more

Advantages Advantages Great real wood look, hard-wearing, level

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, specialised fitting

Karndean flooring is a vinyl flooring which makes a quality alternative to the laminate flooring and real wood flooring more commonly found. Once laid the flooring shares the aesthetically pleasing look of a real wooden floor but has the more hard wearing advantage of a good laminate floor. For this reason the product has widespread commercial use and can be seen in shopping centres, etc. where it needs to withstand extreme levels of use. Karndean does offer differnt ranges, including the Hand-Crafted Wood Collection. Within this range, I decided on a Hickory Peppercorn which looks great ... more

Advantages Advantages It is better than the concrete underneath,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Scratches too easily so looks cheap. Poor after sales.

Not sure whether my comment will remain, but been very dissapointed with the Karndean wood effect we have had laid, We first looked at Amtico but found a design we prefered with Karndean and had it laid, In less than a month with pracitical little use as this is a chillout/ entertainment room used rarely, guests are to remove shoes in the house too, we noticed lots of scratch marks some very noticeable, we got this as we thought it would be hard wearing and glad the one we wanted for the same sized room upstairs was out of stock so we had real wood put down and that has been much better, our ... more

    Advantages Advantages None

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Completely impractical!

Do not buy this product! I was looking for quality vinyl flooring and had Amtico in mind, but the salesman talked me into Karndean because is was supposedly the same quality but less expensive. I was sold the Picasso range which was supposed to be of a high quality Commercial standard. This however, is where the problem begins. This product has no resemblance to a commercial grade product, whatsoever. It marks, scratches, scuffs and is the most delicate flooring I have ever seen. Despite contacting the shop and Karndean directly, the only solution recommended was to 'refresh' the flooring ... more

Advantages Advantages vinyl tiles are a good type of flooring option

Disadvantages Disadvantages Karndean is a RIP OFF search for lesser priced alternatives

The main point of my review is to inform you about Karndean flooring...and how you can get the look and quality of Karndean but pay over 60% less. In brief the following statement summaries my review: Karndean (Brand Name) = Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring its like: Kellogs = Brand of Cereal TIP: Go to Google or Yahoo and search for the term "luxury vinyl tiles" or just "vinyl tiles" and find a supplier who sells this type of flooring. As Karndean is a brand name for vinyl floor tiles, you may find unknown brands which are around 60% cheaper...i found some on www.flooring.uk.com which i picked up ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

    Advantages Advantages None

Disadvantages Disadvantages Scratches, becomes dull and gets huge gaps

We ordered the karndean da vinci flooring and what a RUBBISH product. After paying £2800, The installer came to fit, after the day was done, we had "gorgeous" floors. After a few days the gaps started to show on all the boards. We ordered the most expensive of the product range available so expected it to be the best, this is almost £1000 more expensive than wood. The gaps have gotten worse than ever and we have 2 - 3 mm gaps almost on every board (we were assured that this vinyl doest not expand and contract enough to notice any visible gaps and that it does not scratch as it is extremely ... more

Advantages Advantages Tough and scratch resistant.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fading is dramatic and makes it very poor value for money

Karndean floors are just not suited to be anywhere near natural light. Don't even think about putting it in a conservatory. My sister has had hers replaced three times by the flooring company because not only did it fade dramtically, it then developed a green hue. The fade happens pretty quickly too. You are likely to notice a big difference in colour within a couple of years next to a glass door or in a particularly sunny area of your room. My own Karndean floor is now a range of tones, including the greenish washed out tinge, dependent on how near the windows it is. The response from ... more

Advantages Advantages Scratch proof beautiful durable waterproof

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive

I've had wood in my lounge and found it scratched like crazy. My fat aunty and heels last christmas made me squirm in my chair and its completely ruined within a year it looks tatty and worn, so when i decieded to get my hall carpet replaced although i love the look and feel of wood theres no way i'd consider putting it intop such a heavily used area!!! A friend of mine recommended karndean as an alternative as it doens't scrath and looks very realistic. I then went top me local retailer and was impressed by the look and feel but not the price i couldn't believe how much they wanted to charge ... more

Bought 20sqm of Island Limestone Alderney Karndean flooring from DirectFlooring2U, had great service and the flooring is great. I've had laminate in my kitchen before but I couldn't mop it!!!!! It drove me mad. So i went to my local retailer who showed me this stuff. Its waterproof so i'm able to mop it, they even offer a range of cleaners that i use on both my laminate and my karndean it works really well and once again my kitchen is clean. Its also really quiet when i walk on it and warm to bear foot making it much better suited to English winters. The only problem was the one i liked was ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Karndean Flooring by smithey2008 20/08/2008
Ive used the Eletile EleEase system in my hall and with the handy tips from the flooring shop I brought it from it went down a dream! So easy to clean. The trick is to make sure the sticky strips dont get contaminated by dust, etc. They stick really well. Im doing the kitchen next!
