...G1 models, that was when Kawasaki revised the model substantially from the F3 I think. You can tell the difference because the F3 is squarer in appearance. Anyway, I held on to it for nearly a year in which I did eleven thousand miles around the Highlands of Scotland. Given the severe winter we had and the fact I was in Oz for a month that amounted to a pretty high daily mileage - testimony to the comfort of the machine. I used to get up early and ... ...soft. This is a typical Kawasaki trait I've been told! And that's it! I would definitely consider another one if I could afford it! Compared to the CBR600F before it was revamped to the current version (in 99?) the ZX-6R is a much better bike. A serious contender for value for money sports biking with every day practicality and nice looks (in my opinion). ...

...the trick. The mean green Kawasaki won my vote; looked better than the rival Honda to boot and even fitted me quite well. Not exactly armchair luxury but if I wanted that I would've stayed serenely secure in the living room.
The dealer had a 600 mile repossessed bike on offer. He basically wouldn't let me out of the showroom unless I agreed to a test ride. My kind of chap! After signing a couple of forms and handing over my licence, I gave the Ninja ... ...country roads. In a matter of minutes I'd broken all the traffic laws in the land and was sold on the bike. A total blast, a remarkable feeling of security (when the front wheel was actually on the tarmac). I've never been so far from the vertical before; at least not without visiting a hospital afterwards! It was one of those machines that made the rider look like a total hero even he if wasn't! All smiles at the dealer's. He took one look at my ...

Bought my J1 model 2nd hand in September 06 after passing my test about a month before. Firstly i would say everything on the bike has to be looked at in terms of value for money. Its not the fastest 600 and it certainly isn’t as light or chuckable as say a cbr or equivalent new 600, however for under 3k the bike you get is a absolute bargin.
Performance: Due to my age i was forced to have my ZXR restricted to 33bhp and even then it had the ability ... ...but feel cheated my 109bhp bike had only a third of its stock power... so after a few months I had them taken out. Since then the bike has become alot easier to ride and much more practical on the road. Power delivery through each gear is smooth and the bike pulls hard in any gear above 5000 revs all the way to the limiter. The brakes are pretty good, however I would suggest getting braided hoses on the front as the original hoses do tend to expand ...

Advantages: Fantastic allround thrashing hooligans tool!!! Disadvantages: Not enough accessories for the F3 model
I passed my test nearly a year ago and I got a new bike after 6 months and boy was I completely blown away by the sheer pulling power of this user friendly mad mans bike. The noise when I took her out for a test drive was great. I pulled away from the garage (Shirlaws, Aberdeen), feeling fuckin ace. I just bought new Richa leathers and Oxtar boots so I was needing a new bike to go along with them!! Anyway, I got told I can have an hours test drive. ... ...later model ninja and the first thing he said was "fuckin hell, this thing sounds nice!!" Sorted. My thoughts exactly!! Went back to the garage and bought her. Paid 3 grand and got a set of Bridgestone BT010s for next to bugger all, a Meta 357T cat 1 alarm-immobiliser(condition of the insurance )for 200 quid, years MOT,6 months warranty and a BIG grin on the face!!
Had her 6 months now and the confidence the bike brings out in you in amazing!! She ...

Wow, I bought my ZX6-R last November, just before the 636 was due to be released so I got it for 5000 new. This bike has power and plenty of it, revving high and fast though still having enough low down grunt so you don't have to be constantly changing (unless of course you want to!)
The handling is excellent, wether you are throwing her into a long fast curve or braking hard into a hairpin she does exactly what you tell her and begs for more too. ... ...the front you can get the back up at almost any speed.
She is stable and glued to the road flat out too, it read 160 on the clock with a little more to come.
For a sports bike, there is comfort too, I took my ZX6 down through france last month, doing up to around 800 miles in a day and wasn't in any pain at all!! Looks, obviously, are something special.... though I guess thats a matter of taste, I was lucky enough to get a blue one instead of that ...

...Since I have bought my Kawasaki I have added a steering dampener, braided front back brake lines, Akrapovic Exhaust, smaller number plate and smaller indicators. I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with this bike and feel I definatly made the right choice over all the other 600 on the market. I chose a Y reg 2001 j1 model with 6500 miles on the clock 1 previous owner (which was a sales executive from a local kawasaki dealers) so its been well looked after. the basic guidelines on prices are for a 1998/2001 model in a1 cond £3500/£4900 if you can find a a1 condition bike spend the extra pennys it will be worth it, many of these have been thrashed so be ... ...how long do us poor kawasaki lovers have to put up with those analoge clocks and get some nice up to date digital clocks. also please get rid of that horrible petrol switch.

Advantages: comfortable riding position on sporty bike Disadvantages: new colour schemes not top notch
Always comes out pretty much on top when reviewed by Magazines and suchlike, but apart from its good looks there is a darker side to the ZX. Biggest problem that i have found; is handling can be more track suited than for the roads. This bike is clearly for someone who is not scared to use and abuse the machine - forcing it to every inch of its capabilities; the ZX laps it all up like a cat does its milk. A bit more unforgiving than perhaps the Honda ... ...a ZX6R if you know how to use one. Slight scare with oil pressure after an oil change sometimes, an air lock can form in the crankcase, causing the oil light not to go off, and an awful sounding engine, but a quick drain and refil will normally rectify this problem.
overall.. a lovely bike, engine power very strong at top end, plenty of room to sit, and a good tank range if not abused too much - just watch out for the quick steering if you go too ...

...ride and riding an old Kawasaki GT550 (briefly I moved on to a Suzuki GSX750. This was a beast but nothing compared to my 2004 Kawasaki ZX6r 636. From the moment I set eyes on the bike sitting in the shop I loved it. So a short test ride later saw me return with a small deposit and my leathers. For me, finding such a good bike wasn't easy. I'm 6'2 and approx 18 stone but the 636 handles like a dream, out pacing many bigger bikes due to it's weight and ability to corner.
The only bad thing I could say about the bike is its crunchy gear box at low revs and it's persistent need to lift it's front ...

Quick review of Kawasaki ZX6R
I'm writing this from the prospective of a petite girl pillion rider!
I've been on the back of a few bikes, and some have been comfortable, others feel like I'm sitting on a plan of wood. And unless you have an intercom to the rider, there's pretty much no way of telling him that your bum is numb and your legs ache.
But, the Ninja deserves a medal. It's easily the most comfortable sports bike I've been on. The rails on the side make for a much more comfortable arm position, and it's fine for hard accelarating too. I could easily sit on this bike for a couple of hours and not get the bum ache. ...

Advantages: Good fun Disadvantages: Not to comfertable
One of the main differences between pillion on this bike and on other sports bikes is that in stead of a grab bar at the back, it has grab handles at the side. These are better to stop yourself from falling off the side, I find from a crosswind etc, but not so good from stopping you from going off the back. It takes a lot of effort to stay on when accelerating hard. You are also quite high up so you need do lean forward a long way to get behind the ...

well its been 2 months since i parked the 636 in my garage, and life is much more exciting now! almost 10 years had passed since i sold my last bike [gsxr 750] but i had the bug back badly. after a nervous first test ride in heavy traffic,i returned on Saturday morning with the money and went for a decent test ride in the Adelaide hills. from the moment i got amongst the twists and fast smooth straights i was hooked! breath taking acceleration combined ... ...brakes which have enough power to whip you over the handle bars if your not careful. top gear acceleration is amazing, cruising at 110kmh and cracking the throttle open very quickly saw 220kmh on the clock with plenty more to come! and the induction howl!! my god , sends shivers down the spine! the motor loves to rev, with things getting serious from 5000rpm right up to the 15000 red line, which sounds amazing.however, riding in the city is very easy ...

The 2002 ZX6R A1P model with the 636 engine is amazing with excellent power delivery. Servicing costs are very reasonable. I use this on the track and it is fantastic track day tool as well. Some questionable finish to the paintwork on the swingarm though. Many modifications are available from your basic end can upgrade to full system with Dyno jet and K&N filters to increase power. The low screen height is easily solved with the purchase of an after ...

In short, if you're looking for an excellent 600 sports bike then you won't go far wrong with the ZX6R, it comes out on top in all catagories as far as i'm concerned, take one for a test ride and see what you think, you will be impressed. ...

I bought a j2 brand new in dec 2001, the bike is physically a lot larger than other manufacturers bikes of the same class, a bonus for the longer legged amongst us. Straight line stability at silly speeds was excellent and the bike always felt confident through the twisties. Even pillion comfort was reasonable for a sports bike. Reliability was good it never let me down, finish was ok, got the usual furring up of fasteners after a few rides in bad ...
