Advantages: Small size, Good quality of movement, Aesthetically pleasing Disadvantages: Needs constant cleaning, Ball can become dislodged and lost
The Kensinton Orbit is the perfect solution for any Laptop user who doesn't like using the inbuilt navigation pad and loaths having to find space for a mouse and mousemat.
My reason for buying this product was I needed a cheap, small device that would allow me to scroll about quickly and efficently, and this has answered the call brilliantly.
At first it was only going to be used for everyday navigation and I would use a more powerful graphics ... ...responsiveness to be such that it works well for doing even the most graphical and positioning work.
To anyone that has used a trackerball before, they will find this easy to use first time round, but new users to this will find it hard to navigate for maybe 30 mins max, this is not a design fault, this is just because it is so different to the bog-standard mouse most people are all too used to using these days.
A good feature of this trackerball ...

Advantages: No mouse mat needed, Stationary operation, Helps prevent R.S.I Disadvantages: May require regualr cleaning
The Kensington Orbit Elite Trackball is by far the best mouse I have used. Over the years it is easy to get throught mice as they become dirty and clogged up. This one is different and the manufacturer must also believe in the product as it comes with a 5 year warranty. I have had mine for about 3 years now and there is slight wear on the left mouse button, however the rubber panel that runs down the middle of the device is showing no wear or tear ... ...you are one for eating at your computer as crumbs and dirt on your hands will stick to the ball and find its way on to the runners inside the mouse. I find that taking the mouse apart and cleaning it throughout has and will preserve the life of the device and make it funtion at its best.
There is no need for a mouse mat as the mouse stays stationary, therefore reducing the potential of incuring R.S.I in the long term. The device requires far less ...

Advantages: Lovely blue glow Disadvantages: died off eventually
I bought this mouse prior to the one that I own at the minute. This was bought from PC World for £19.99. This was and I think still is quite a bargain where trackball mice are concerned. The mouse itself takes a little bit of getting uesd to if you are not accustomed to using a trackball mouse. It also has USB connection that can be converted to p/s2 with the little converter that is included.
The mouse itself it quite comfortable. It also glows ... ...actual plastic ball when touched. All-in-all a great little mouse when it works and with that comment that is the drawback.
Although a great little mouse when workin, when not working it is highly frustrating. The first thing to go is the very pretty blue light, then the ball will stop responding even after cleaning the little wheels underneath the ball. I think I basically ended up hitting it off the table a lot to get it to respond. It was very ...
