Advantages: Good quick coffee, good crema, fun design, fair price Disadvantages: Dripping, water holder bit fiddly, cup warmer does not heat, poor service from Kenwood
...the machine went back to Kenwood service department (who incidentally were very slow to respond to emails) and we were generally unimpressed with how they handled our problems. They were too ready to try and blame us for not cleaning the machine properly. This was untrue - we followed the manual to the letter. Cleaning instructions which came separately from the service department contained a bit that involved unscrewing a nut from the filter head ... ...a price! However, this Kenwood got us started on espressos and is a pretty good little machine at a good price - and has a fun look. The coffee is made quickly, it produces a good crema. Quick review of Kenwood ES550 Retro

Advantages: Simple to use and set up Disadvantages: Quite Noisy
This Coffee machine is excellent, its easy to use, easy to clean, easy to set up and to top it all it makes great coffee.
From the moment of switching it on to it reaching the right temperature is a matter of minutes then just flick the switch and the coffee will pour out at a nice thick consistancy. Once the Coffee is done simply heat up the machine some more and then froth\heat up your milk for an excellant Capucino.
To use this machine couldn't ... ...it on and start heating the water. The other produces the coffee or the steam for your milk depending on its position (top for coffee, bottom for steam.)
On the subject of the coffee, you are going to have to find a nice fine blend, a cheap brand just results in rubbish, watery coffee.
This machine is easy to clean. It has a removable drip dray and water compartent and the milk steamer and coffee holder also come apart for cleanning purposes.
