Advantages: Good coverage off some good bands and free CD's...sometimes. Disadvantages: Not enough about Scooter...seriously? Sometimes it focuses on the rubbish Nu-Metal bands too much.
Most you are you probably familiar with this magazine, consider it's been around for years and it's a magazine, which I do subscribe with. It's out every Friday, priced £1.80 and overall you get 60-70 pages full of nothing but all the good bands in the world of rock/heavy rock (excluding the likes of Limp Bizkit and co, ugh.). And I may want to add that this is Squiggles favourite magazine as well...don't be shy Lou, put away *that* Scooter CD and ...

Advantages: Accurate reviews, balanced genres Disadvantages: Commercialisation
Kerrang is a rock music magazine. It deals with near anything remotely rock / metal related from Muse - probably as tame as the magazine gets - to Cradle Of Filth, Maiden and the like. It comes out weekly as it has done for about fifteen years now, and as they reach the nine hundredth issue its clear to see they’re nothing if not established. It consists of about 60 to 70 pages of reviews, news and general tomfoolery from the world of rock. ...

...I saw a name in Kerrang that I'd never heard of, downloaded a track or two of them, and sometimes loved them. In fact, some of my favourite bands I read about in Kerrang! when they were all small and unknown. So whether Kerrang!'s mainstream only coverage is a good thing or not depends what you're looking for in the magazine really.
EXTRAS:
Recently, well for ages now, Kerrang! has been featuring a four page pull-out poster special in the centre ...

Advantages: Excellent Mag! Disadvantages: Bring back the posters
I began reading Kerrang about two years ago now after it was recommended to me by one of my friends.
I have collected around 100 copies of the magazine now (sad I know) and all 100 have been an excellent read.
Every issue, which is released every Wednesday, is cram packed with excellent band and tour news, photo’s facts and gossip etc…
Although some information is sometimes hard to locate due to it being in very small writing in columns ...

Advantages: 7 Day gig guide includes some local gigs Disadvantages: Features can be dissapointing, a lot of craptacular bands covered
I’ve been reading Kerrang for a number of years, and although my musical tastes have altered (more towards the heavier end of the rock/metal spectrum) I’ve still found the magazine a good weekly read as it caters for a number of different styles (unfortunately some more than others though). It may be seen as a 'specialist' music magazine, but there are now a lot of publications which specialise in sub genres of rock and metal, but none are as widely ...

...features and posters for the Kerrang generation. So why isn’t it that good?
The first thing in the magazine is the News section. This holds breaking news in the rock world over the last week/s. The quality of the news varies a lot, from confirmed stories to down right gossip, the only problem is that with most of the stuff, you honestly can’t tell one from another. This “news” also isn’t often news as such, it’s ...

...dear what has happened to Kerrang over the past couple of years. I remember when Kerrang was once a metal magazine catering for people into metal punk and rock. Now its seems to be some kind of multi media business. What with Kerrang.com Kerrang radio and Kerrang TV, Klub Kerrang, where will they go next ? Okay I have to admit there is nothing wrong with the TV station and radio, and its a darn sight better then MTV or Radio 1. My real problem with ...

Advantages: Lots of information about up to date music and well written Disadvantages: can be crap if your favourite bands are not in it
Kerrang! is a magazine dedicated to Rock Music. Its £1.70 and comes out weekly. Its actually more of a rockers bible……I think???
Although, I have only bought the last 4 editions, I have already subscribed to it. Its that good!! The thing is that it can be a bit crap sometimes. Well that depends if you like the bands in it!!
Kerrang! may be considered too light on information and only concentrating too much on the latest big thing ...

Despite its name, Kerrang is Britain’s best selling magazine, and with good reason. Its witty articles, brilliant reviews on the latest rock CD’s, and all topped of with a little bit of subtle humour.
To help decide whether I should tell you what Kerrang is about; put your hands in the air if you have never heard of this magazine before.

I still believe that Kerrang is now the “Smash Hits” of the rock world. It seems to concentrate on the same few trendy (American) bands every week at the expense of all others (Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Disturbed etc.). Now, its not that I have a problem with the inclusion of these bands, its just that other bands, both new and old, do not get a look in. The attitude of Kerrang! over the last few years has forced many British ...

...being the cover slogan of Kerrang! magazine - the rock and heavy music lovers weekly bible to what's hot and what's not.
I used to be a devotee of the magazine buying it weekly without fail for several years but, maybe a few months or so ago, I began to cool off. I felt it was becoming a kind of heavy metal "Smash Hits" - too light on information and content and concentrating too much on the latest big thing or whatever was trendy in the rock ...

Advantages: Up to the minute, weekly news about the rock scene. Disadvantages: Heavily biased towards the mainstream.
Kerrang! is a long-running weekly magazine focussing on rock music in it’s various disguises. Within it’s pages, you can find Emperor rubbing spiky shoulders with Blink 182, a Kyuss retrospective followed by a Bon Jovi poster, and so on. I’ve been reading, on and off since about 1993, and even in that time, it’s undergone a few changes.
