Advantages Advantages Great Integration of Disney Characters, Story, Gameplay

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some Cameos Seem Forced

What do Disney and Squaresoft have in common? Well on the outside it isn't completely obvious, as Disney is an American company who children's movies, while Squaresoft is a Japanese company which develops mature themed role playing games. So what exactly is it that I'm getting at? Well first take a look at the track records for these two entertainment giants; they have both produced some of the most entertaining blockbusters the world has ever seen, but lately they have both been down on luck. Disney's last breathtaking effort was released back in the mid 90s, while Squaresoft has hasn't had a ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic combination | Looks the part | Nice story

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Camera is awful

A combination of one of the worlds leading RPG developers and a company with some of the most recognisable characters around was bound to be interesting. A partnership between Disney and Squaresoft could have gone either way. There is no denying each companies quality but whether the pairing could actually work was another thing. Thankfully the combination seems to have paid off making Kingdom Hearts one of the standout RPGs of recent years. In the game you play young hero Sora. Living on a secluded island him and his two friends Riku and Kairi long to visit new worlds and explore. Meanwhile ... more

    Advantages Advantages Fun and enjoyable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Addictive

I only originally bought this game as I saw it was made by the Square Enix team and Disney. I'm a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series so figured this hopefully wouldn't be too nad. What was once the game I bought for £10 out of boredom has become one of my all time favourites. The story At the very beginning of the game, you must choose what kind of fighter Sora is going to be, by choosing between certain things. These will determin if you are a warrior, mage or somewhere in between. Sora lives on a little island, Destiny Island, with his best friends Kairi and Riku but he dreams of ... more

Advantages Advantages great graphics, easy game-play, good story

Disadvantages Disadvantages unsure who it's marketed at

As you may have already noticed, I’m a big fan of my PS2, and in particular role playing games (RPGs). My favourite one of all time has to be Final Fantasy X, and I enjoyed 7, 8, 9 and X-2 as well. A game which doesn’t always pop up when people talk about RPGs is Square’s collaboration with Disney, Kingdom Hearts. Whether this is because people don’t like it, or more likely because grown adults don’t want to admit to playing a game where you fight alongside Goofy and Donald Duck, I’m not entirely sure. All I know is that I enjoyed the experience, and would like to share it with you, kind ... more

Advantages Advantages Unique and Innovative, great graphics, sound and gameplay

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lance Bass is NOT Sephiroth!

Kingdom Hearts, from Squaresoft and Disney, is an innovative game with unique gameplay that mixes characters from both studios. You play Sora, a child from an island kingdom who dreams of building a boat to travel to other lands. When his island is attacked by the Heartless and his friends scattered, Sora finds a mysterious Key and opens the door to other worlds. Along the way he encounters Donald and Goofy who are searching for King Mickey, who has gone missing. They team up to find their missing friends and defeat the Heartless, travelling through a succession of Disney themed worlds ... more

Advantages Advantages Everything about it blends perfectly

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not well received in many quarters

Kingdom Hearts is a strange one in terms of reception. Disney fans love it, fans of Disney and Final Fantasy enjoy it, but many Final Fantasy fans couldn't stand it, many would not even try it. The mixture of Disney characters and Final Fantasy proving to be a step too far for a video game. I love both genres and thoroughly enjoyed the merging of the two. =Plot= Sora and his friends Kairi and Riku dream of leaving their small corner of the world and see if there are other worlds out there to explore. However before they can realise this dream their island is attacked by dark creatures known as ... more

Advantages Advantages Disney characters, great story, very challenging

Disadvantages Disadvantages Simple battle system, music gets tiresome, main story is split up

I must say, I never thought Disney and Squaresoft would have teamed up in a million years. But, of course, neither did anyone else, with the exception of Squaresoft... and Disney, of course. But it happened. And what was created has turned out to be one of the most beloved games in history. With over 100 Disney characters, yet still boasting one of Square's extravagant storylines, this game was destined for fame. But be warned, there is a small catch. Just because Disney helped make the game does not mean it will be easy. The fact is that it is far from easy. Expect to be spending around 40 ... more

    Advantages Advantages good looking

    Disadvantages Disadvantages a bit fiddly

I saw the trailer for Kingdom Hearts on one of the Final Fantasy games a fair while ago. It looked strange, very surreal, and vaguely interesting, so recently I got round to picking it up. Created by Square Enix, it's a cross-over between their genre and Disney. There are appearances from characters out of the Final Fantasy series (Cid, Sephiroth, Squall to name a few) and lots of faces from Disney. The game starts with Sora, our main hero, experiencing a strange dream and wondering about the meaning of life. Sora's friend Kairi wants to leave the island to see other worlds, as does another ... more

Advantages Advantages good game | made by square-enix | great graphics

    Disadvantages Disadvantages nothing really?

This is a review about the RPG game Kingdom Hearts, there are many things you can do on this game, it is made by the same creators of the Final Fantasy’s which are Square-Enix. The game is very good, it has many battles that need to be won, you need to find your friends which get taken to different worlds when ‘The Darkness’ comes onto Destiny Island (the island your first on), and scatter them across the worlds. You first after the whole Darkness taking over, you go to this world which is called Traverse Town, where you find Donald Duck and Goofy to help you. You also find some other people ... more

Advantages Advantages Great graphics, Addictive storyline

Disadvantages Disadvantages Constantly pressing X to battle!

Kingdom Hearts. If it was a person I would be in love and married already. I have always loved RPG games but my true passion (but don't go spreading this around) lies with Disney. Every aspect of it. And the idea that it is in a game but not all about Disney was GENIUS. There are few faults that I can personally find with this game except that I lost several months of my life and the replay value is so good I have completed it three times now (hence wasting more time in my room). For FF fans there is a treat too. A lot of the characters that are not Disney are from the previous FF games ... more
