...I do own a few Kingston DataTraveler of several shapes and sizes, using each one for different types of work/play, but the particular one I am reviewing today is the '''2GB Datatraveler.'''
==** Specifications…==
* 2 GB storage capacity
* Size 68 x 21 x 9 mm
* Plug and Play
* LED access indicator
* Interface: 1 Hi-speed USB - 4 pIN USB type A
* Password protection
* Included software is SecureTraveler
* OS needed are Linux 2.4 or later, ... ...few, including a few from Kingston themselves, including a 16GB, an 8GB and a 4GB, all of which have come in handy for me from day one.
This particular 2GB flashdrive is about the size of a cigarette lighter and will fit in you pocket with ease, the USB adapter being protected by a rather rigid plastic lid, which clips neatly onto the other end of the unit when it is in use, although do be careful that you don’t misplace this. The Kingston range ...

Advantages: Loads of space, easy to spot, very robust Disadvantages: None Yet
I've had my Kingston USB Flash Drive for about 6-8 months now. I first came across them through work. We were looking to buy a nice small, easy to use USB that wasn't too expensive nor had more space than we needed.
In the end we bought two of these lovelies, one for myself and one for the other lady who worked in the office. The first thing that I love about them is that they have a handy little lid which snaps really easily onto the end of the ... ...about robust!
My little Kingston flash drive is the 2GB version. It also comes in larger and smaller GB's which each has a different and distinct colouring. Mine is green. The colours serve a purpose. When you've put it down somewhere it stands out against most backgrounds and is easy to spot if you leave it everywhere and anywhere like I do.
Down each side of the USB is a green strip, which is great for gripping the USB when pulling or putting ...

...particular one is made by Kingston and is called Data Traveler. So far 2GB has proved more than ample in terms of its capacity, however I am sure it will only be a matter of time before the applications become more memory intensive and making it necessary for a larger capacity.
What does it look like?
It is predominantly white with lime green highlights, when it is in use a greenish LED on the Data Traveler pulses. It is made of hard plastic apart ... ...protects the USB connection, this clicks on nice and securely, to pull it off the sides of the main body are ribbed to make it easier to grip so removing the cap is not a problem. When the Data Traveler is in use the cap fits snugly on the other end so it is not lost.
Also you get a small black string with attached metal loop that you can fit to the drive. Then you can if you wish attach it your keys or onto a chain around your neck.
How easy is ...

Advantages: Simple, convenient and practical. Disadvantages: Size may mean misplacing it.
...would be lost without my Kingston Data Traveler flash drive pen! I am a student at university and this pen has been the most hard wearing out of the previous 2 i have owned. Capacities available:
I have the 2GB version but this pen also comes in 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities. However some of the device's capacity is used for formatting and so is not available for storage use. When a device such as this is manufactured, certain ... ...other cells fail over time. Kingston Data travelers have controllers that automatically block out "bad memory" and move the data to other parts of the device in order to prevent corruption of the data stored. This enables the Kingston Data Traveler USB flash drive to have a long but finite life (approximately 10 years with normal use)! Even if the device you have is faulty in any way, Kingston deliver a 5 year Guarantee with this product so it is ...

...as with previous sticks from Kingston it had a lanyard to affix it to a keyring, which is a useful extra (so I can attach it to my house keys - that way I'll not leave the office without them, as has happened before!), attached to the USB stick rather than the cover for the USB adapter - one friend lost their memory stick because the lanyard affixed to the cover rather than the memory stick itself. Of course if you have a heavy bundle of keys, I ... ...I went for a Kingston Data Traveler product as I had always been very satisfied with my previous memory sticks - they are always a lot more convenient than any of the other storage types which I used to have to use (CDRs, floppy disks etc.). My customers have yet to register a complaint, although one cheeky one sends stuff on another smaller, older memory stick - I expect he's misappropriated my corporate gift for his own private use! ...

The Kingston DataTraveler is incredibly simple to use: just take it out of the packaging (which is really the hardest part of getting to use the thing) and then plug it in, and it's ready to go. Simple as that.

...is absolutely NOTHING WHATSOEVER that Kingston blesses you with. Let alone a bundled software, you don't even get a lanyard/neckstrap with this thing! That's cruel! Advantages: Cheap, light, robust Disadvantages: Slowish, small capacity
Overall this is a very good product. It is light, strong and has lasted me well for more than 3 years. The storage capacity is adequate, and excellent value for money at the current price, though of course you won't get exactly 2GB, but about 1.8GB instead. It loads up very easily in XP and Vista - all you have to do is plug it in the first time and wait about 2 minutes. Advantages: Mass Removable Storage @ High speeds Disadvantages: none
The Kingston Data Traveler USB flash drive is one that lives up to its manufactures' reputation and name. This drive's sleek design, ease of usability and forgiving non-saftey removal features are just some of the advantages that this drive has.
The 2 GB storage at around these prices alone can catch attention of anyone, exspecaily when seen with a brand name of Kingston which has a repuatation of producing high quality goods.
The speed of this ... ...comes in handy on large files and is hardly noticable when saving small documents ect. So not only the high storage space, but the speed at which it can be accessed is good as well which makes it great for either storage, back up or sharing of files between machines. This is a very easy to use USB flash drive. The security functions that are seen on many of the latest USB pens aren't seen here. The device is quite handy and easy to use... would've been much nice had the cap been replaced by the sliding port like in most new versions since the cap is likely to be lost.. Advantages: Looks great and very cheap Disadvantages: Slow transfer rate and 'sticking' cap
This USB memory stick is definately a good purchase. I bought mine from amzon in autumn 2006 for £19 from amazon. This was a bargain, but now they have dropped below £10, so are definately a bargain for anybody. The stick is small in size and has an attractive green design, with a matching green LED status light. The 2GB (actually 1.86GB) memory provides ample storage space. There is also an attractive metal faceplate on the reverse side. The package ... ...although no lanyard or keychain.
In terms of hardware performance the USB stick is very reliable and consistent. However, it has a consistently low transfer speed that mirrors the low price. To copy a single 700MB movie took four minutes, when compared to 90 seconds with my old Kngston memory stick. I also found that the cap can occasionaly get stuck and is very tricky to remove sometimes.
In all, this is a good product, with a great design. However ...

Advantages: Cheap and realiable Disadvantages: You may find more capacity for just a little more money
This portbale USB drive has got to be one of the most realiable ones i have used so far. I dont think it costs too much and unless you're really into media and music, you may find that filling up 2GB of memory may not be easy with just word files.
I'de happily recoomend this product to anyone as it is absolutelly suberb. It hasnt let me down yet. However if you're working with media such as music, videos, webpages, high quality images etc. then ... ...USB pen.
I know from experience that all media workers will appreciate a few extra gigabytes of memory.
You must remember however that the USB isnt bullet prrof so dont keep it in your back pocket and go ride on a rollercoaster. You may regret doing that..
Overall its a great item for general data storage and if you want to work with alot of media simply buy a higher capacity USB stick. They are available in the smae design by the same company. ...

Advantages: Very cheap, reliable, well known brand, high transfer speeds Disadvantages: Could be easy to lose due to small size.
Kingston have a very good reputation for memory/flash based storage and this is no exception. The drive itslef is very small, probably about the length of your thumb and 5mm deep. So it is very portable and easy to carry around with you, just make sure you dont lose it!
The drive has 2GB of storage space which is more than enough for the average user to back up all thier important data on. It has a USB 2.0 interface allowing you to transfer files ... ...your PC is USB 2.0 capable or you will get slower transfer speeds.
Along with the drive you get a small lead that you can attatch to a keyring to keep it safe which is very useful so you wont lose it.
I have never personally had any major problems with the device in terms of corrup data or PC's not recognising it. Just whack it in a USB port and XP should recognise it straight away and you are off. It's that simple.
Considering the huge amount ...

I gave my 2GB Kingston flash drive a few months ago and I think it's really great. I can use it for Microsoft Windows Vista ReadyBoost to speed up my PC.
