Advantages Advantages Good capacity, speedy, compact and easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be a little pricey sometimes

As I have previously stated many times, both in reviews and in what people may consider to be slightly dull conversations in the pub, I am a big fan of flash drives, preferring them to DVD or CD for storing and exchanging information between computers, and for that reason I have to confess that I do own several different flash drives of many brands, with many storage sizes. I do own a few Kingston DataTraveler of several shapes and sizes, using each one for different types of work/play, but the particular one I am reviewing today is the 2GB Datatraveler. ** Specifications… * 2 GB storage ... more

I've had my Kingston USB Flash Drive for about 6-8 months now. I first came across them through work. We were looking to buy a nice small, easy to use USB that wasn't too expensive nor had more space than we needed. In the end we bought two of these lovelies, one for myself and one for the other lady who worked in the office. The first thing that I love about them is that they have a handy little lid which snaps really easily onto the end of the USB to protect the end that fits into your USB port on your computer. It seems trivial and perhaps many have lids but I tend to have a lot of problems ... more

For work we all got 512MB pen drives, however part of my work can be quite memory intensive therefore I was supplied with a 2GB pen drive. This particular one is made by Kingston and is called Data Traveler. So far 2GB has proved more than ample in terms of its capacity, however I am sure it will only be a matter of time before the applications become more memory intensive and making it necessary for a larger capacity. What does it look like? It is predominantly white with lime green highlights, when it is in use a greenish LED on the Data Traveler pulses. It is made of hard plastic apart from ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple, convenient and practical.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Size may mean misplacing it.

Flash memory was invented in the early 1980s by Toshiba as a new technology that allowed data to be stored even when the device was disconnected from a computer. Today flash memory is the preferred storage media for many industry and consumer devices. I would be lost without my Kingston Data Traveler flash drive pen! I am a student at university and this pen has been the most hard wearing out of the previous 2 i have owned. Capacities available: I have the 2GB version but this pen also comes in 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities. However some of the device's capacity is used for ... more

It is a sign of the times when you can't leave home without gigabytes of data in your pocket - I used to never have this kind of problem - now I tend to travel armed with a laptop or if I am going out "naked" at least a memory stick. Last year I bought a 1Gb USB memory stick to replace the 128Mb USB memory stick I had been using the previous couple of years. Clearly now I need to fight the "data" flab as I find that 1Gb is not big enough. People might question why I didn't go for a far bigger USB stick - 16Gb is the current highest size. Well I went for the 2Gb memory sticks because I bought ... more

Advantages Advantages Good size, looks sleek, simple to use straight out of the pack

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lid may break or come off too easily

I lost my old USB stick, which had a measly 128MB storage space, eons ago it seems, and so about six months ago I picked up one of these in order to take my work - primarily the novel I was working on - to and from college. It grabbed it from Amazon because I had a £10 voucher and so I only end up paying about 63p, which was the extra amount on top from postage. Six months later and it's in my pocket almost every day. Appearance Firstly, let's cover the appearance of these things. The picture pretty much says it all: they're pretty sleek looking and aren't at all ugly - which is better than I ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, small and with engaging design

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you put the cord you lose the top

Although I'm not exactly well up on this field, today I want to talk about a little item I recently bought. It is a flash driver with 2 GB of memory, useful to store data you want to transfer from one pc to another. Aesthetically it has a very engaging design and a gaudy colouring (they call it Lime green but it doesn't look like that fruit). It's very small and light and it has the possibility to be fasten to a keyring, using the ring which is on the back side. In the package there's also a little cord to fasten to the same ring to facilitate its transport. This accessory though inhibits in ... more

Advantages Advantages Large space, nice appearance, affordability, fast performance, pretty design...

Disadvantages Disadvantages No extra goodies or bundled software!

Actually, I should be writing this review under the 8GB version of the same series. But, I didn't find the product listed in here; so, I'm writing this review here. Besides, there isn't much difference between this 2GB version and the 8GB version except for the extra 6GB and the colour (the 8GB sticks come in black colour) Looks/Design - 8/10 I really liked the design. I guess I find this to be good because I also own a Transcend Jetflash V60 which is simply horrendous when it comes to looks. I also like the colours that this little thing comes in. Performance - 7/10 I never believe in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Stands out, reliable, very easy to use.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

This flash drive is nice and modern looking, easy to spot on your desk, and fits easily in your pocket. The 2GB storage is plenty of storage for your family photos, music, videos and various other things. The flash drive fits into any USB 2.0 port, and features Hi-Speed USB to make things a little less... slow. :-) The flash drive is lime green and easily stands out on a wooden desk, so no loosing your flash drive just in time for that very important meeting, of course that is, if you don't knock it down the side of the desk, then you would have to find it like any other object :D Kingston is ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap, light, robust

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Slowish, small capacity

Overall this is a very good product. It is light, strong and has lasted me well for more than 3 years. The storage capacity is adequate, and excellent value for money at the current price, though of course you won't get exactly 2GB, but about 1.8GB instead. It loads up very easily in XP and Vista - all you have to do is plug it in the first time and wait about 2 minutes. Over 3 years, it has not failed me once, not lost any data and not taken any physical damage, despite a lot of travelling. Transfer speed would be one of the only downsides I can see - it takes a little while to fill it up ... more
