Advantages: It look good, and works even better! Disadvantages: None, really!
...then I saw it: a KitchenAid toaster! I mean, I didn't even know they made toasters, since I'd never seen one. But I had just bought a wonderful stainless KitchenAid dishwasher, and I was crazy about it; so I figured, why not?
And the result? It works nicely. It has little grippers which keep the bread very secure, so nothing ever falls to the bottom. There are some other neat features, too: It has indicator arrows to show which side of a bagel to ... ...and a warming button: I eat one piece of toast, and can rewarm the other in seconds.
I don't recall reading it in the literature, but I think this model has a microchip to keep the even settings for the done-ness of the toast. The bread is perfectly toasted across the entire surface - every time.The outside stays cool, and it blends in perfectly with my new kitchen. So now, I'm back to Square One: I don't have to give the toaster any thought again! ...
