Advantages: none Disadvantages: expensive kitchen, average quality, dodgy company
...told to say that the kitchens are made by the company and fitted by our own contactors. The truth is they are made by a third party in China and although some fitters are employed by the company its most likely a outside contactor will fit the kitchen.
The “design consultants” who visit you are salesman with no design qualifications who work on commission alone, if you don’t buy the kitchen they don’t get paid.

I rung Kitchens direct on their freephone number. Tel: 0800 123 321. A very polite lady answered the phone and I said I would like an appointment as soon as possible with view to just getting a quote.
She said a salesman would be out to see me the following day at 7pm. I thought this was excellent quick service, and I asked how long he would be in my home as I knew exactly what units I wanted and had already got all the measurements. ... ...each page of how good Kitchens Direct is, exactly how the units are made, where they come from, what sort of handles/runners are used, why they are better etc. I explained again I just wanted a price please. He then continued his speel, and said I can offer you good finance too.
At this point I told him that i would be paying cash outright and wouldn't be interested in Finance.
He drew up my plan (or should I say his plan) there and then, which ...

...buy my new kitchen from Kitchens Direct ,so I can’t tell you what the product and fitting are actually like ,if one went through with the fitting.

I explained the situation and said that in order not to waste anyone’s time there was only any point in them coming to the house if they could guarantee the kitchen would be with us in four weeks. ...appointment' with both Moben and Kitchens Direct, not realising that they were the same company. My KD appointment was for 2pm Monday. I was stood up. When I phoned in 45 minutes later, I was told that due to the icy conditions, she'd been involved in a minor car accident (sympathy vote).
It was rearranged for the following day at 7pm. When I got home that evening, there was a note to say someone had been around at 2pm. So I'd been stood up again.

Advantages: I'm not sure there are any! Disadvantages: Expensive, Persuasive
...Meanwhile, I researched some kitchens and prices online. We knew roughly what we wanted and how much we could afford to spend, so we didn't think the appointment with the salesman would take too long at all. How wrong could I be???
The salesman arrived slightly early, but was very pleasant. We showed him our kitchen, made some coffee and sat at the table ready to discuss our options. As I said, we knew roughly what we wanted and where we wanted ... ...had a "follow-up" call from Kitchens Driect, asking why we hadn't placed an order. I explained it was too expensive. I was then asked what sort of price we would be prepared to pay. When I said we didn't want to pay more than £6,000, he told me they didn't do kitchens in that price range. ...to pull my order with Kitchens Direct today and am astounded at their incompetence….
Before we even approached them, we started out with a strong idea of what we wanted - very plain modern shaker type cabinets in cream/off white and a work top in granite or high quality 'mock granite'. Stumbled across KD website and saw a possible range (Lincoln) but concerned because in photo of cream range there was lots of extra detailing we didn't want - fancy ... ...wanted plain. However there was a photo of white Lincoln with plain end panels and spacers, much more what we wanted (apart from colour) so enticed by offers on web decided to book no obligation consultation. This was arranged for a Sunday - which actually I was quite impressed about, I run my own business during week so Sunday appointment suited me very well. Sunday arrived - sat there twiddling thumbs waiting for guy to turn up. He arrived 50 mins ...

Advantages: Excellent Kitchen, nice products as standard Disadvantages: Poor service from staff at offices
My view of Kitchens Direct is varied. Firstly I will say I wish I had read these reviews first before buying. If you are considering a kitchen from this company you have made a good choice for quality. I am very happy with my kitchen so far. I will say at the first stage of the sales man coming out do not take the first price and dont decide there and then. We did and realised we could have got it cheaper if we had bartered more. Lets be honest however ... ...all the time, no two kitchens are the same!
5. At the survey stage make sure you ask loads of questions and make sure you are 110% happy as after that they dont give you extras, if at the survey stage you feel you need extra storage as the surveyer to put more in but dont pay more, they will ring the office with the final plans and they will alter the price, they will say "its going to cost a bit more, are you prepared to pay more?" SAY NO!! THEY ...

The same day a gentleman called me to arrange an appointment for the next day, 10.00 am on Saturday. I was impressed how quick it was. Advantages: Friendly, helpful and courteous customer services Disadvantages: Very unreliable salespeople
I first heard of KD probably like most people. Big leaflet falls out of the free local paper, advertising 75% off ex-display and reclaimed stock.
They offered a free evaluation and design without obligation so I gave them a call and arranged an appointment.

However, at the time, KD didn't offer a fitting service. You had to arrange that yourself, and I couldnt' really be bothered with the hassle, so I didn't go ahead with anything. This was about 1.5 to 2 years ago.
Now, a couple of weeks ago they cold-called me and promised me free fitting and free appliances if I spent over a certain amount. So I agreed to someone coming ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Too many to write about
I had KD fit my kitchen and its terrible. If you can find a local firm to do your work, go for that. The kitchen I chose was expensive for the size of kitchen and no. of cupboards - its been a headache from start to finish chasing fitters etc to get work done, with excuses of fitters going off the job sick with a bad back or stomach upset, a fitter who conveniently went on holiday and another who went off on training. Fitting of one cupboard has ...

...a second time purchaser from Kitchens Direct we expected to receive the same professional care as we received on our first purchase. We were delighted with our first kitchen and so decided to use them again.

We were very unhappy when the fitter ...

We engaged Kitchens Direct to fit a new kitchen earlier this year. They are supposed to be one of the largest direct kitchen companies. Advantages: Willing to negotiate on price Disadvantages: Service
Kitchens Direct are pathetic. Other than the kitchen fitters being competent, the whole ordeal has been appalling. Firstly, a tip. If you offer the salesman cash in hand he will give you a decent discount - e.g. £100 off the books may get you £200 off the official price of the kitchen - saving you £100. The sales reps are self employed so this in not surprising.
Now a word of warning; if you are unable to get the initial dates for delivery and installation ... ...We informed Kitchens Direct of this and were assured that someone would be in touch in 48hrs. That was over a week ago. Numerous phone calls have revealed that 'Neil' the installation manager is very busy. We are still waiting.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. ...

...purchasing a £7000 kitchen from kitchens direct. This has been the most stressful expreience of my life!
We as many others before ,received a very promt call to arrange our consultation to discuss "our dream kitchen". They had cut all of the worktops too short so my appliances were jammed in, all of the electrics downstairs kept tripping out due to the awful fitting of new sockets. I had no cooking ...
