A very nice camera, here's why.
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by

Advantages: Excellent value for money (around £300), very well designed.
Disadvantages: No hand strap, only 16Mb internal memory.
...at an enlarged size.
The Kodak boasts a fair few features that set it apart from its rivals. The control buttons are well places, we've got a large 2.2 inch LCD panel, the menu system is clear and easy to use and the jog dial (shall explain later) that allows me to change exposure settings while concentrating on the picture.
Another function that makes the DX6490 stand out, the LCD panel is usable in low light! If you've ever used a digital ...

PROFESSIONAL PERFECTION.
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
thingywhatsit
Advantages: More Professional than the basic Kodak.
Disadvantages: Heavier though few disadvantages.
...had one of the basic Kodak Digital Cameras, and I was very impressed with the quality of the pictures, the ease of use, and the overall thought that went into the design. Little by little, I have been educating my husband on all things technical and about a year ago, he pinched my camera, and seems always to have it with him because it is so versatile.
This is okay when we are at the same place at the same time, although I looked into getting another ...

Unbelievable value for Money!
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
becb1974
Advantages: Fantastic Optical Zoom, Lens Cover, Price
Disadvantages: Instruction manual on CD only.
I have owned this camera for only one week, but I do not think I could have bought a better camera for the money. The zoom - 10x optical zoom - is quite amazing. The digital zoom on top of that - 3x - is ok, but as with all digital zooms, you can get the same effect from your computer once you have taken the picture.
As the instruction manual is only on CD, I am struggling to learn all the features. I find it easier to have a book with me to look ...

Advantages: 10x zoom, fast start up, 'one touch'
Disadvantages: can take a few seconds to focus when using full zoom
...than meeting my requirements, and Kodak not being afraid to stray from the standard silver format that most other manufacturers seem to favour.
Although they may not currently be as fashionable as manufacturers such as Olympus & Fuji, Kodak is a name that has long been synonymous with photography and certainly a great deal of thought has gone into enabling this camera to go the 'extra mile'.
The first thing to note about this camera is the 'One ...

Works like a £1500 professional camera.
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
feniak
Advantages: Excellent Zoom, ability to choose between various colour modes (Sepia, B&W, Saturated color etc), Built in internal memory (therefore you don't need to buy a memory stick with the camera), portrait pictures, sport mode (capturing movement, night shot).
Disadvantages: None found yet.
...To be honest I think Kodak is selling it cheap. I bought this camera 2 weeks ago and was amazed with the convenience of it. One button does it all, transferring images to my computer or laptop, printing and sharing.
The LCD screen is quite big and it makes life easier when it comes to reviewing your photographs or videos.
The night shot option is the best I have seen so far in digital cameras in the region of £200-£350. You have no idea what ...

Great zoom camera for the money!
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
Skaap
Advantages: The zoom lens and easy to use functions
Disadvantages: Low light not great, reload speed too slow
If you're not looking to spend a small fortune on a good camera, then this is an excellent choice. 4MP gives an excellent quality for amateur use and the 10x optical zoom on this camera is amazing. The digital zoom gives a poor picture and bad focus, but you shouldn't really need to use it, the optical zoom is more than enough for most pictures. In low light, the picture is not great, but there is quite a good built in flash, and a bigger one available ...

Simple, straightforward...point & click
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
Rosan
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Tripod needed to make best use of full zoom features
When it comes to cameras and photography I'm not the most experienced person going. I see what I like and want to take a picture and this camera makes it so easy.
I've had the camera for 18 months now and it is the best camera I have ever had. The re-chargeable battery gives an enormous amount of usage time. The close up facility is excellent. And it even does video and sound...depends on the size of your memory card though on how much time you ...

Kodak Easy Share DX 6490
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
uleray
Advantages: clear, excellent quality pictures, high powered zoom, rechargeable internal battery
Disadvantages: delay on focusing sometimes, case not included
I have owned this camera for just over a year now and I am still very impressed by it. It takes excellent quality professional looking photographs.
Settings on the camera enable you to take pictures in full colour, black and white, sepia, in situations with minimal or unusual lighting (eg nightclubs), multiple photos in a row (cluster), clear moving images; enable you to change the shutter speed...plus much more..
Another bonus is the ability ...

...for your money in the Kodak DX6490.
I have used the camera on holidays, sporting events ( the sports mode giving 6 shots in 2 seconds give some interesting results) and even at a model railway club to take photo's for thier web site as well as videoing thier layouts, all with fabulous results.
If you are looking for a light well balanced easy to use camera for everyday use, or even one to take you towards getting semi professional results then I ...

A complete camera to play the pro
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
Malfaiteurs
Advantages: Lots of features, superb photos and very easy to use and manipulate
Disadvantages: Slow focus, short life battery
...positioning, brilliant screen...
Having used my Kodak for 4 months, I have used most modes & functions, thought I had to add a spare battery. Dark lighting photos are excellent without flash (using tripod), macro’s clear, 10x zoom’s great to catch people on the spot, manual/semi modes allow for tries, flash’s good enough… An all good featured camera!!!
One improvement could be in focus speed.
Thought the zoom is fast, focus can be slow and difficult ...

What a Wonderful Birthday Present
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
acereporter
Advantages: Compact, versatile, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Didn't come with case
I had never thought of myself as a good photographer until I was given this superb little camera as a birthday present. It has all the qualities I like in a camera, small and compact enough to accompany me every where, but still equipped with a 10 x optical, 3 x digital zoom lens. I use it on automatic when in a hurry, and have been very impressed with the quality of the pictures with a resolution of 4.23 Megapixels, but my best photographs have been ...

The best digital camera for under £250 ?
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
cherryfield
Advantages: High powered optical zoom
Disadvantages: Slow to focus. Low internal storage
I find this camera to be excellent. The picture quality is as good as My SLR. It is as easy to use as you want. There is a basic mode or a more advanced mode where you can set up everything manual. like the f stop etc. The battery lasts ages too. I have owned this camera for nearly a year and have only charged it 4 or 5 times and I do use it a LOT. I really can't recomended it enough. The large screen is so easy to see, it is massive. Brilliant camera ...

Eggy's DX6490 review
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
eggy900
Advantages: Massive Zoom , high resolution good manual features
Disadvantages: Quite heavy, bad in low light conditions
The Kodak Easyshare DX6490 digital zoom camera is a good camera at a reasonable price. Although it is now slightly outdated by newer models this camera is still ahead of the pack in terms of consumer digital cameras. It features a massive 10x zoom with a 4 x digital zoom if you need a little bit extra (and believe me you shouldn't because 10 x can bring even the smallest of subjects to you.) The 4 mega pixel resolution may seem a bit outdated but ...

Why should buy!
Review of Kodak EASYSHARE DX6490 by
bobbycurrie
Advantages: Cracking quality, and excellent zoom for this price.
Disadvantages: Could be quicker inbetween photographs.
...it looks pretty proffessional too!
The Kodak is also very easy to use, without so much as a glance in the direction of the manual you could be taking pictures and uploading them on to your pc, printing them out and enjoying them. The software is easy to install and very straight forward too!
Overall, its very very hard to fault this camera, go buy one! ...
