Regarding the 3 X optical zoom, I have found in practice that it seems to take a long time to progress from wide angle to the fullest extent of the optical zoom. I bought the Kodak V570 Dual Lens because I wanted a smaller size camera I could take with me at concerts or some other places where it is difficult to use my bigger digital SLR (Nikon D50) and so far I haven't been disappointed.
