...With the passage of time, Kodak has evolved several versions of this software, which incidentally does NOT have to be installed on your PC. The version I’m switching to between paragraphs as I write, boots up with a slide show of all the pictures in continuous rotation, but you can easily escape this to run the software proper with the Start Kodak CD button.
The main screen gives you the ability to browse the photos on the left, some of which (the ... ...whilst on the right there are several menu options, these being:
A)Picture Tools – this allows you to view a complete single shot and make “fun” alterations to it, such as mosaic or sepia effect. Don’t worry, you can play all you like, the picture themselves, are read-only being on a CD ROM.
B)Share - This allows you to e-mail pictures, with the option to make them smaller before sending – not everyone’s got broadband you know! You can also create ...

Advantages: receive the benefits of digital photography Disadvantages: you'll probably still want to buy a digital camera later
...strongly recommend that you try Kodak picture cd. Take your film in to your regular Kodak developer to be processed; add "Kodak picture cd" to the regular developing instructions. When you receive your developed prints, you will also receive a cd that contains all of your pictures. Simply put the cd into the cd-drive of the computer; instructions will pop-up onto the screen and lead you through your options. It is an excellent way to organize and ... ...(remember to use photo paper). Kodak cd is also a great help if you need a photo for selling an item at auction. Auction items with photos often receive higher bids. Advantages: Access to pictures on CD Disadvantages: Poor software, big price
The software included with the Picture CD is very poor indeed, and takes a long time to load up, even when fully installed, on the computer.
The idea behind the CD is good, and you do get all of your photos on CD. However, if you have access to a scanner and a CD writer you supass Kodak's efforts without even thinking about it.
I very rarely access the software on my CD, and simply open the CD in explorer to get at the actual photo files.
