    Advantages Advantages Taste

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Price

Krug, ah Krug! The absolute ruler of Reims, Krug is possibly the best Champagne in the world. There are several reasons for this dominion over one of the most luxurious goods market. Exclusivity usually defines price and demand in the world of luxury, but the unique taste of Krug also sets it at its own level. For those who are not champagne connoisseurs, do not panic for I will introduce you to the main terminology before further describing its crowing jewel. Champagne is in fact a region of France from were the world's best sparkling wine is produced. Reims is definitely the most important ... more

Advantages Advantages The king of champagnes

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The cost!

Krug champagnes are probably amongst the most respected in the world. Their reputation precedes them and so when I was offered the chance to go to a tasting I literally jumped at it. Not known for their affordability, Krug champagnes are amongst the most expensive you will find in normal retail outlets. These champagnes are made to age-old recipes using age-old methods. They are not mass produced and this is what you are paying for. For most, Krug is synonymous with insider-trading – often talked about but few have tried. Krug champagnes have quite a distinct flavour. Each of the ... more

Advantages Advantages Very different to any other champagnes

    Disadvantages Disadvantages VERY pricey!!

It has to be said, I'm a confirmed lover of champagnes of all types. However, last Feb 14th, my other half treated me to a bottle of Krug (to my mixture of horror and delight, given the price) and I have to say, it not only looks very different to any other champagne out there, but it tastes totally different too! It is a great gift for someone who would really appreciate a good bottle of champagne, because it is just so beautifully presented. Coming in a deep red satin-lined box, and a very classy bottle, it looks almost like the champagne equivalent of an expensive box of chocolates, indeed ... more

Advantages Advantages Superb finish and bouquet

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The price perhaps!

If you are after a quick celabratory toast to knock back in a minute, then go for a cheap champagne such as Lanson, or Veuve Cliquot. These are pleasant enough to be quaffed on New Year's Eve, but I feel somewhat Mundane everyday items. For that extra special occasion, when every last drop of champagne will be savoured to the nth degree, splash out on one of the top marques such as Krug or Dom Perignon. Now the difficult bit (if you can call it that) is to decide between the two. The easiest way to distinguish between the two is to compare it to lets say a car. The Dom Perignon is like a top ... more

    Advantages Advantages rich and biscuity

Disadvantages Disadvantages after a bottle of Krug other champagnes are a disappointment

I love champagne who doesn't ? and there is so much hype these days about 'A' list champagnes and who drinks what and when and who with ! I first tried Krug on board a BA flight, I have not looked back since - this champagne is indeed very very special. It has the most wonderful golden colour and it is so smooth deffinately a hint of vanilla with a real biscuity taste. The bubbles are subtle amd plentiful. I have since tasted it on the ground and I can honestly say it travels well and does not seem to mind cabin air pressure ! Krug is thankfully not one of those champagnes that says "flashy ... more
