Advantages: Many centres, atrractive setup Disadvantages: Shoddy after sales, workmanship not always upto standard, maybe dishonest
Kwik fit with their signs and glorious advertising 'you can't get better than a Kwik fit fitter'- you'd think well, I must give them a try, because one of the beauties of Kwik Fit is that they are literally everywhere, yes literally everywhere. Last count there were at least 600 of them around the country. An attractive proposition if your looking for a garage. Or is it?
Kwit Fit, founded by Tom Farmer, and its first centre opened in Edinburgh in ... ...Motor Company for a cool £1bn only to be sold in 2002 to CVC Capital Partners and again in 2005 to the French company PAI Partners.
Kwik Fit prides itself on customer service, you notice this on their flyers which reads 'customer satisfaction' but with satisfaction struck through and replaced by 'delight' above. Question is, how far is this true?
Certainly, the availability of garages are not an issue. I live in North Birmingham, and I know there ...

Advantages: Quick efficient service and a good price too Disadvantages: None spring to mind
I had to finally accept the truth - all four tyres on my car needed replacing, despite the protests from my credit card.
I went to my local branch of ATS and asked for a price. They quoted £528 and could have the tyres in and on my car the next day. I went home slightly grief stricken by this amount so got busy on the internet to see what other prices I could find (whilst my credit card hid under the bed, quietly sobbing.)
I wasn't particularly ... ...fairly remote part of Wales so outlets of any retailer are few and far between. However, I did have a look at Kwik Fit's website www.kwik-fit.com to see if there was a branch nearby, and if so, what price they could offer.
I thought that it would be quite complicated and I would need to search through lists of tyres, with weird specifications and numbers on them that wouldn't mean a lot to me but I was pleasantly surprised! On the Kwik Fit site, ...

Located on the main road, even we could spot its massive exterior and obvious blue sign. The car park was ample for my rubbish parking so we dumped the car and wandered in. Playing the ignorant female card, we announced we had a puncture which needed immediate repair and a replacement one that may or may not be attached to the car properly. Perhaps it was my elderly mother who ... ...fluttering that did it, but nevertheless 3 men clamoured to help us. After explaining the situation - NEC was waiting, mother impatient, stupid temporary tyre that wouldn't get us up the motorway etc- we needed the puncture done by sun morning. The lovely man said it would be done and we could pick it up before 6 the same day or anytime sat or sun - perfecto! Not bothering to ask the price, we set off knowing that the problem would be resolved and ...

Advantages: Quick, friendly, convenient locations Disadvantages: Practiced con artists
...INTRODUCTION:
It seems that Kwik-Fit don't just have a difficulty with spelling, they also have a problem with honesty. Their staff earn commission on what they sell and consequently a young woman like me, dependant on her car, instantly transforms the mechanics from men with spanners into the most prolific of con artists, dodging and weaving innocent questions and scrambling to make a buck. Of course, these monsters didn't realise that they were ... ...because it was convenient; the Kwik-Fit garage in Exeter is near to the city centre which is where we had planned to spend the few hours that the MOT would take. It saved us about £3 in car parking and I was pretty sure that by the time we had finished looking at suits and ties the car would be ready for us to drive back to Exmouth to visit the soon-to-be-in-laws. I had had tyres and exhausts changed at Kwik-fit in the past, although they were slightly ...

...of having to visit 3 Kwik-Fit branches this week - and the service (or lack of it) was equally poor at all of them.
Initially I visited the Stevenage branch to get my front brake pads changed. After about 20 minutes of waiting I was finally informed, by the under stress manager, that he was too busy to do it there as he only had 1 brake technician and suggested I drive across to the Hitchin branch. 20 minutes later (at 4:10pm) I was in the Hitchin ... ...that it was too late to get the parts so I would have to come back tomorrow. It was only 20 minutes after my Stevenage experience - surely the manager there could have told me not to bother wasting my time driving over at that time of day? I gave up on the brakes and got them done at the main dealer. Imagine my disappointment when I was told I needed 2 new tryes - the Kwik Fit nightmare was to start all over again.
This time I went into Bedford ...

Needing a new tyre for our car I decided to telephone around to find the best and cheapest deal.
You would think that this would be simple wouldn't you. You ring up and go to the one that has the
deal for you..
No there is an art to this!
Never presume that the place that was cheapest last time will be the cheapest this time.

What you do do though is remember the lowest quote. Now you do answer this truthfully but I dont think you need to say that they didnt have them in stock!

It appears that Citroen have used two different makes of front brake pad on the Berlingo (mine is 2003 model) and of course the cost depends on which make is fitted. There is one make which costs around £40 and another which costs around £55 - these were the average prices I found while searching.
I also looked up the cost of replacing the ...

I have worked in the motor industry for over 30 years & 20 of those years were as a mechanic. I have witnessed some appalling examples of poor workmanship & bad working practices form Kwik Fit & other fast fit companies but one example close to home around three years ago left me utterly disgusted.

They were informed by one of their commission led fitters that the tyre would not repair & a new one was needed. A price was agreed on & the tyre was fitted.

I know it's a corny title, but I happen to think that all in all, you probably can't.
I needed to go to Kwik Fit this morning becasue I had a puncture and the garage that takes care of my car has an arrangement with them- they do the tyres and exhausts and my gareage does the servicing. Or so they say. I have a lease car and my leasing company has an account with Kwik Fit. I normally use the Bournemouth branch at Bear Cross and have nothing but praise for them. Whenever I think that my tyres might be getting a bit shiny I pop in on my way past and one of their team will immediately check them for me. Hi, This is my MOT experience from a Kwik fit depot in Hitchin Herts. I had booked my Mot test online for a specific time and duly turned up early for the appointment. I left the car and keys with the person at the desk and returned 35 minutes later. To my amazement my car was still standing outside in the same position that I left it. I checked my vehicle; a BMW 740i into my local 'Kwik-Fit' station based at Abbeyforegate in Shrewsbury on Friday the 7th of November 2008 for an annual M.O.T. test, which was subsequently tested and failed by Mr. Julian Inns. I had also at this time enquired regarding the costs ...
