Lovefilm have to be one of the biggest online dvd rental companies on the market and they are the force behind sainsburys, channel 5 and a lot of other rental companies just check out the small print when you decide to change your online rental supplier. Lovefilm.com really deserves NO STARS, but that is not an option with this site's ratings system. Basically, you will never get a new release, even if there is no indication on the website that a film is subject to a long or short (neither being defined) wait. i have recently taken up the free trial offer from lovefilm and i will not be cancelling it, we are on the lightest package which is 4.99 for that we get 2 dvds a month one at a time but there are other packages which if you watch alot of film work out to be really good value, i was unsure of how the posting back and forth would work out but its brilliant, turn around from sending back one and receiving the next has been only a couple of days, much ... Seemed like a good idea, and in principle it is, but they clearly don't get enough copies. We have to wait ages for films which is especially annoying if they are kids films - kids don't grasp why some businesses are incompetent. Unfortunately most of the shops have now closed so there is little option - I complained but they didn't care. It is now so bad that if you add a film that came out in the last month a pop-up tells you there will be a long wait! Talk about knowing your service is terrible and really not being bothered about it Will probably go back to SKy box office when my contract ends.

Advantages: None to me I'm sorry to say!

Out of interest, I took advantage of a free offer of a month's trial with this company. Whilst completing the initial registration details I had to give my bank details so that if I continued after a month they could automatically debit my account with the following month's fee of £9.99 (their minimum charge). First DVD did not arrive, was offered another 10 days free as compensation but was charged for this as soon as the DVDs were sent (ie money was fraudulently removed from my account). DO NOT USE

I was forced to move from Amazon to Lovefilm when they sold out to them. 1) Expect deliveres to take ages. MUCH slower turn around than Amazon 2) Expect to use the SLOWEST WEBSITE ON THE WEB. Lovefilm seriously need to look at their technology platform on theri website.

1. Discs always come scratched, even after requesting for a new disc! This can occur 3-4 times in a row. 2. Discs go missing half the time 3. Do not trust their 30 day trial!! I got charged cos on the record I had a disc on loan, when in fact it never came / got missing in the mail. It was only after 2 days AFTER my trial expiry that they said yes, we know the disc is missing, charged me 14.99 GBP and promptly closed my account. What a load ... Read review

I joined via the 20 day free trial and was dismayed at the service. It was shoddy and thrid rate compared to their competitors. Their printer is on the blink and didn't print my postcode out properly so i recieved most of my dvds 5 to six days late. Customer services don't keep copies of any letters i have written so i have to explain to them everytime i write to them. Disadvantages: Has my loyalty been taken for granted?

Now, I don't think I need to go into too much detail of whats on offer here. Suffice to say, I paid £9.99 a month for the one disc at a time offer. You create a list of DVD's you want to watch on the website, then your highest available choice is sent to you. Once you have watched it, you return it freepost and the next DVD is sent. I joined LoveFilm when it was still DVDsonTap but with the new website layout which I wasn't impressed with I decided to cancel my subscription. This all happened about 9 mths ago. I kept receiving emails to my secondary address from them & tried to log into my account to cancel them but had forgotten my details and had changed my sign up email address since signing up so couldn't receive a password. 'Dire' is the first word that comes to mind when considering the service offered . In a mere 3 mths of being a member they have sent me 6 wrong DVDs & I have found 15 films in my rental queue that I haven't requested, some of which have been sent out to me.
