Toned triumph for a colour virgin!

Advantages: Looks really, really good when finished
Disadvantages: Takes a lot of concentration and time, and makes a mess!

...appeared on the tv for L'Oreal Couleur Experte and I thought I would give it a go. I'll start by describing my experiences and i'll include all the technical information at the end for those of you who like that sort of thing (and the rest of you can skip it!). CHOOSING THE PRODUCT Well, for me, it all started in Sainsbury's. A whole entire wall of hair colour! I quickly spotted the L'Oreal, and i'll point out that this is the first and last time ...
...I wavered a little, the L'Oreal Couleur Experte was much more expensive than the others, at £9.99. But no, this is the one I had chosen, this is the one i'm having! Now for the colour. I have naturally medium brown hair. I looked at reds. I looked at blondes. I looked at a nice cherry shade. Then I chickened out and went for the one that looked the same as my real hair; 5.3 Chocolate Macaroon with Natural Golden Brown highlights. I relax a little ...

~ Don't believe the pretty pictures ~

Advantages: Does dye your hair...
Disadvantages: Over priced, doesn't do what it says on the tin!

L'Oreal Couleur Experte: Protective Multi-tonal colour system - Colour + harmonised highlights. I normally dye my hair every month or two (I get bored very easily, and changes in hair colour are less offensive to my boyfriend than me getting more piercings or a tattoo!). I'd seen the adverts on TV and the highlights looked really prominent and their hair looked luscious so I thought I'd try it out. My first problem with this product is that I tried ...
...whereas I was searching for L'Oreal Colour Expert the results were coming back with nothing because it is spelt Couleur Experte. Minor problem though, and if you were normally trying to find the product in the shop you wouldn't have such a spelling problem! In the end I gave up and went to Boots on the way home from doing my shopping and picked it up there. It costs £9.54 from Boots which I think is a total rip-off as most hair dyes are about £3-£6 ...

Curly Kirsty Curses Chemicals

Advantages: Dyes your hair a fetching colour
Disadvantages: HIghlights? What highlights?

Well seeing as though each time I try a new hair dye, it mysteriously disappears from shop shelves forever, I am constantly searching for new ideas to keep my red hair … red! And once I saw this particular product in the shops and on the tv, well it was too much for this gal (yes there is such a thing as the advertiser’s dream – and here I am!). Mack had to have it! As my hair has now been cut and is looking half way decent for a change, I decided ...
...warn you now. This is pretty dang time consuming. It took me nearly 2 hours and that’s without drying it. So be prepared to set aside a goodly part of your day/evening. Will she have the patience to go through all the stages? Read on, my friend. * The Subject * Take one Mack (that’s me). She’s got curly shoulder length hair and has been dyeing it .. err (coughs nervously) for quite a while now. It’s naturally really dark brown but in the current ...

Eerrgghh!!! What Have I Done?!?!?!

Advantages: I didn't pay full price for it (hooray for Wilkinsons!)
Disadvantages: It ain't the colour it says it is!

...conditioner, and a packet of L'Oreal Couleur Experte (in "Chocolate Mousse" shade,as I recall). This, on the packet, was brown with reddish streaks, not too dissimilar to my hair at the time. I hoped to just enhance the look I already had. I chose L'Oreal, because generally I trust their products, and because this relatively new dye product claims to look more natural by adding complimentary streaks to the finished result. After all, that's what ...
...last Friday, I produced the L'Oreal Experte after he'd finished with the scissors, and gave him the puppy-dog eyes. The product comes in two stages - firstly the all-over colour, and then a highlighting kit (with a large mascara wand) to add personalised streaks. Stage one was easy to mix up - hubby put on the included gloves, poured the contents of one bottle into the other, gave it a shake, and away we went. For once, there was plenty of dye (normally ...

do you have the patience?

Advantages: Quality for money, instructions thorough.
Disadvantages: Time consuming, colour different to shade on box.

*** L'Oreal Couleur Experte *** Well on Friday I am off to a wedding and slightly short of money this month thanks to the car costing an arm and a leg, just for the MOT. So my plans of a lovely trip (EXPENSIVE ONE) to the hair dressers, I of course went in search of something that I could do a lot cheaper, hassle free and by myself. I usually do dye my hair with Schwartzkopt dyes in the blue boxes as I feel their colours are more vibrant, but I ...
...eye strain reading it. L'oreal is a name you trust, they do products not only for adults but kids, things like shampoo and conditioner. I believe most of their products are expensive but the packaging and product is quality, so I was rather shocked at first at the £9.79 mark for this hair dying kit, which was the most dearest in there, but then I thought that is reasonable, because I took a sneak peek inside the packet, and you do get a good dose ...

...been great (Umberto Giannini & L'Oreal Feria Color Booster) but I just get lured in by all the gorgeous different shades offered so end up trying different things. This time it was the turn of L'Oreal Couleur Experte. ...between other hair dyes and L'Oreal Couleur Experte (apart from the fact it tries to have a fancy sounding name…) is that the one package actually includes all the paraphernalia required to add some subtle highlights to the overall effect. Very posh. It's all laid out methodically, which explains why the box is bigger than most dyes. On the top layer is stage 1 (the all over colour) contained within plastic, and if you remove this layer the bottom ...

Warning DO NOT try this at home

Advantages: Great idea and looks good in the ads
Disadvantages: You could end up looking like you've been tango'd

I've been watching the adverts for this innovative new hair colouring system for a few weeks now and finally, when browsing in Boots at the weekend, I decided it was my turn to transform myself into a hair highlighted goddess. The product was reduced from £12.99 to £9.99 so I thought I’d better investigate further. I found myself surveying the shelf in front of me and wondering which colour I should select. Because I'm worth it

Advantages: innovative idea, two tone system where you control your own highlights
Disadvantages: time consuming, more expensive than other home kits

I like to experiment in home self-tan, home hair colouring, etc and have had mostly successful results. You can imagine my delight when I discovered this new, innovative hair colouring products advertised in a magazine. I rushed to Tesco and couldn’t find it there, although I did manage to track it down in Boots. It is currently priced at £9.99 until 17th July, when it will become the usual price of £12.99. What is so special about it? It is basically ...

Great Colour Range There are around 18 colours to choose from, varying from “Iced Latte”, the blonde colour I have chosen, to “Morello Cherry”, a vibrant red, to “Chocolate Duo”, which is browns. So I am sure you would find a colour to suit your needs, ...

I have been debating going darker for months now, and everyone i know seems to have done it. Ive really got fed up with doing my roots every month! Badger It

Advantages: Cheap, but looks it
Disadvantages: Damaging

My young hairdressing apprentice nervously sidled up to me as I was deep in conversation with a client as we were discussing her hair styling requirements and then tried to interrupt me. My apprentice was a very discreet and experienced trainee so I realised she wouldn’t bother me unless it was important. I excused myself and joined my apprentice, with her very concerned face, in a quiet corner of the salon. I only needed to glance briefly ...
...see there was a serious problem. The close fitting cap worn by clients having a full head of bleached highlights was full of bleached clumps of hair. The woman the hair belonged to was sitting on the other side of the salon at a back basin, completely unaware that half her head of hair had detached itself from her head and was sitting snugly in the cap. There were two outcomes from this dreadful experience. The first was the histrionic reaction by ...

Disadvantages: Not always the colour you expect! Expensive, messy, time consuming

Firstly i would like to apologise for any spelling mistakes and typos!! I am currently writing this with my 8 month old daughter on my lap!!! Now, every girl likes to experiment with their hair don't they? Well i sure do! We paid £9.74 for ours, but later found them on offer in Boots for £7. I know it sounds cheap, but its also worth lokoing in your local Poundland, mum has been able to pick up ...
