Tan-Fastic

Advantages: Works well, Smells ok
Disadvantages: Packaging looks cheap, takes a while to dry

...The product in question was L'oreal Plenitude Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel. This is a new addition to the L'oreal tanning range and claims to have the added benefit of smoothing the skin leaving it 'velvety soft' (which would be very weird when you consider the feel of velvet - if you skin suddenly starts feeling like that, I suggest you consult a doctor!) Normally this product retails at £9.99 for 150ml, which may seem quite steep, but you only ...
...does last. At the moment its on offer at Boots for £6.66 -those of you with a superstitious nature wait until it returns to its none demonic price before you purchase it! The product comes in a clear plastic tube with orange trim. Orange? Obviously someone in the marketing department had a good chuckle about that - it doesnt exactly fill you with confidence when you apply it! The thing I dont like about self-tanning products is the horrible chemically ...

...tangerine! Eventually I decided on L'Oreal Sublime Bronze self-tanning gel, as I thought of L'Oreal as being quite a trustworthy brand. Also, the Sublime Bronze range had 1/3 off at Boots, so I paid £7.32 for a 150ml bottle instead of £10.99. Another thing that attracted me to this product was the fact that it is suitable for use on face as well as body. Previous tanning lotions I have tried didn't work very well on the face, and it saves having ...

Shimmerific tan

Advantages: Nice shimmer, easy to apply, no nasty smell
Disadvantages: Tricky over heels and feet, bottle doesn't seem to last very long

I'd only ever used St Tropez before and was wary about using a cheaper brand. At £10.99 it isn't the cheapest you could possibly buy but I do think it's really good value for money, especially if you buy in Boots and get advantage card points. The tube didn't last as long as I expected, I've used it on my legs only twice, and all over once and I think it'll probably run out after another all over application. Maybe I'm just a bit addicted to it! ...
...find I needed to exfoliate and moisturise excessively before application for it to come out evenly. Just a bit of moisturiser before was all I needed, even on my knees. Much less faffing around than using St Tropez! The tint to the gel is a nice colour, a warm copper-y bronze and makes seeing where you have applied very easy. It doesn't, however, really give you an indication of what the final colour will be. I especially liked the shimmer to the ...

Have you caught the sun?? Oh yes, I think I have!!

Advantages: Easy to apply, silky skin, natural gradual tan
Disadvantages: Needs 2+ applications, takes ages to dry!

...PRICE AND PACKAGING L'Oreal Sublime Bronze usually costs £10.99, but it was on offer in Boots with 1/3 off. I don't think that this is a bad price - not stupidly expensive like St Tropez, but it is enough to give me confidence in the product. The packaging is clear, so that you can see the dark orange gel inside, with an orange flip cap. It has orange, gold and white colours on the front. It looks quite nice, although how excited can a girl get ...

More 'Giselle' than 'Christina Aguilera'

Advantages: Absorbs well, Difficult to get wrong!! use on face also.
Disadvantages: smell during development

I really suggest than even amature fake tanners try this product out to add a bit of a glow to winter worn skin. I'm a typically perfectionist Virgo and as such rather tentative when it comes to tanning products. I can't stand the idea of having just one dodgy patch and i'm so particular that I can't just tan my legs I always HAVE to do my WHOLE body and face because I don't like the idea of having a mismatched look when i'm naked (even if it's ...

Sun Kissed in a bottle?

Advantages: Quick to dry & absorb, natural colour, relatively easy to apply
Disadvantages: smell could be improved, can be a bit patchy

I've naturally pale skin and always feel self conscious of this over the summer months, particularly when it comes to getting my legs out when they've been hidden away over the winter months. Not wanting to go for sun beds after all the health warnings associated with these, I opted for a tan in a bottle. Wary of looking like the orange celebs we seem to see all the time, I was careful with the shade selected and went for the lightest possible selection. ...

After preparing my skin as directed (exfoliated and moisturised!) I applied the gel, little by little. I was surprised by how quickly this absorbed but a bit concerned that the product didn't appear to show on the skin. I was unsureif this would give an even tan as I was relying on memory as to ...

Superb Sublime!

Advantages: No Streaks
Disadvantages: Bottle is slippery whilst applying - not very gripable

This has got to be the best self tanning substance I have tried. The fact that it is a gel instead of a lotion or cream, makes it easier to glide over your skin. Anyone can use this self tanner, it is basically idiot proof for all self tanning virgins, but on the other hand it is great for the professional self tanner, who has been applying for years. It gives a slight glistening effect when applied, this makes it easier to tell if you have missed ...
...The application. The only thing i would advise is that, if you have a shower or a bath and shave your legs, before the application, leave it an hour or so before applying the gel so your pores have chance to close, if not, what i find is that it doesn't absorb into your legs properly, your pores just soak up the gel and you end up with tiny dark brown freckles on your legs with nothing in between. It's entirely up to you whether you moisturise ...

Hey Mister Tangerine Man

Advantages: Easy to apply, smells good, fast results
Disadvantages: Not perticularly 'natural' looking results

Women don’t fully hold the monopoly when it comes to wanting a natural golden tan without having to risk getting skin cancer or premature ageing. As a pale-skinned man with a summer ball to attend in a few weeks I thought healthy glowing skin would flatter my tuxedo perfectly. I can only ever remember using a self tanning product many years ago and although it was a cheaper product the results were pretty good. With this in mind I thought that ...

To me Loreal is usually a name that equal quality and reliability and the packaging was also appealing; looking modern in a see-through tube enabling you to see the actual tanning gel. I'm Defininitely Faking

Advantages: Lovely subtle glow
Disadvantages: Clear when applied, maybe a bit too subtle for some

I've got to be honest, I am not usually a fan of tanning. I was learning to live with my milk bottle legs when I saw this on the shelf at 7.99 "Hmm, give it a go.." I told myself. Well, what a pleasant surprise. Nice and easy to apply, even for the inexperienced (or downright hopeless) fakers like myself. My elbows were surprisingly un-orange, and it didn't smell as rank as others I've used. I even risked using it on my face which turned out fine. ...
...be too light for a lot of people, you can build up the colour by reapplying daily. The one application suited me fine, a nice honey colour rather than a deep tan. Depending on how much you put on, it does start working after one hour, although the full effect was seen overnight. A couple of minor disadvantages though:- The packaging is a bit uninspired, but don't let it put you off; The clear formula means you may find it difficult to see where ...

No more pasty skin!

Advantages: Natural colour, very moisturising!
Disadvantages: Smell when colour develops

I bought Loreal gel after a friend recommended it to me. The problem I have is that I suffer from psoriasis and find that fake tans usually cling to every tiny dry bit of skin even after exfoliating and moisturising. My friend promised me that this was wonderful and left your skin silky smooth so I thought I'd give it a go. I went along to boots and it was on special offer, fantastic! So it cost me £7.49 rather than £10.99 which it usually is. It ...

It has quite a watery consistancy so be careful not to squeeze too hard! It looks very brown at first but once you start applying it leaves a nice suble shimmer with just a hint of colour so it is very easy to see whats already been done. It took around five ...

A true all-over tan

Advantages: Natural colour, effective on scars, nice smell
Disadvantages: Packaging not great, even fair skins require 2 coats

...as well...here it is. L'oreal sublime bronze gel is a light non-oily gel with quite a nice fresh scent (makes a change). It is suitable for face and body and gives a light glow after one application. I have very pale skin and if I use 2 applications 24 hrs apart I get a lovely bronzed colour. To be honest the first application does very little other than give a nice healthy glow so if thats all you're after great, but if you want to apear tanned ...
...I have quite a few scars and not all fake tans cover my scars. This one does but again it does take 2 applications. I really liked this particular effect as the small scars were unnoticeable unless you really got your eyes up against my skin, the larger thicker ones were less obvious too. The gel is easy to apply, absorbs quickly and doesn't streak. It contains vitamin E too which is great for your skin, especially if you have scars, it does improve ...

good, not exeptional, but good fake tan.

Advantages: Produces dramatic but not orange results.
Disadvantages: Isn't really good for use on body

Produces good and quite dramatic results. It's good for first time tanners as it is slightly tinted and this allows people to see where there have applied tan and where they haven't, this helps to ensure even coverage. the smell when you first put it on isnt too bad, although when the tan starts to take effect the "fake tan" smell becomes quite strong. i recomend this product for face tanning but i have found that it doens't work as well on your ...

I feel it works best when you do it at night, but the next morning you do have to have a shower as you can still feel a layer on the skin that hasn't absorbed but when you do wash it off you are left with a good end colour. Also youshould be aware that their is glitter in this ...

Advantages: good colour/ no rubbing off on clothes etc.
Disadvantages: may be streaks and sometimes messy

...expensive but then i saw L'Oreal sublime bronze on the shelves and at a price of 9.99 it was incredably cheap! i applied it as soon as i got home. The directions were simple and easy to use resulting in the gel going on smoothly and more or less evenly. The fake tan hardly rubbed off on my sheets, clothes or in the shower. Great! A quality product that goes far!

Advantages: Non greasy, spreads evenly, no marks, quick tanning
Disadvantages: Slight sticky feel, quite pricey.

I got this because of the other opinions on here, and I have to agree that I like it alot! I am always a bit weary of self-tanning products, initially because they are so pricey, and then I don't want to become 'orange' or have streaky lines! This gel seams to be the answer for a great self tanning product for me. The gel is a browney-orange colour, and when it goes on you look really shiney which is good to see where you've been before. It smoothes ...
...The gel takes about 10 minutes to dry and stop feeling sticky. I have always made sure I am totally dry before putting my clothes on so I'm not sure if it will mark your clothes. I have primarily used it on my face, and notice it seems a golden bronze rather than 'orange'! A great product, and although it is £9.99, it seems good value for a quality product that goes far! ...
