After many time waiting due to the difficulty of getting this unit in spain, I finally got the drive, and then all the surprises came.
The unit is in general terms very slow; we use a normal ethernet LAN and the performance compared with other drives is very poor. Even the connection via USB is very slow, nothing to do with the [theoric] 400MB speed ... ...I started multiple trheads with Lacie support and all ended in confirming the poor performance of the unit; they do not officially or non-oficially stated at any time this, but followed the typical customer support technique of getting you tired of getting nothing solved.
They sayed for example that this was a 'USB-ethernet connection' which is 'intended to be slower than ethernet', and always ended the support with the instructions for resetting ...

Advantages: Network storage device Disadvantages: It does not work as advertised
...Since I bought this drive Lacie have release 4 firmware upgrades, none of which has even attempted to address the problem.
Lacie even bothered to inlcude an automatic file system integrity check upon start up, so that the firmware doesn't have to be reset if the kernel crashes.
All in all, a terrible product. ...

Advantages: Great idea Disadvantages: Barely works
Whilst the idea of the Ethernt Disk Mini is great, the execution is poor.
It only works when fomatted with FAT32 which limits file size (<2GB). No good for video or RAW files.
If formatted in EXT3 the USB doesn't work. You have to reformat fo FAT32 or HSF+ for both USB & ethernet to work.
If formatted in HFS+ (for Mac) it is unstable & can't handle large files. It keep crashing requiring a tedious re-initalization.
