...Selfridges someone was demonstrating the LauraStar Magi i-S5 and seeing it perform, I knew it was the machine for me.
The LauraStar i-S5 is a very powerful steam generator iron built in to its own ironing board. Probably the easiest way to explain it is to describe setting it up and ironing with it.
First of all, you open up the machine like a standard ironing board. Because it's got the iron and steam generator built into it, it's pretty heavy ... ...the water. This uses proprietary Laurastar filter granules which have to be changed about once every six months depending on how much ironing you do. (The crysals change from blue to brown when they need changing) It's a bit fiddly to set up the filter, because if you're not careful the crystals get everywhere, but it's not something you have to do very often. A water test strip is included with the machine to test if you need to use the water filter. ...

I bought this machine last January and have recently moved, so temporarily it's in storage...I'mlost without it. I'm back on my standard Tefal Iron with a rickety ironing board whch is shorter than my trousers! I was in Harrods with my wife who does not do the ironing, I was amazed when we saw the demonstration of the product. As a designer, I need a system that will iron all of the fabrics that I use plus is suitable for everyday home ironing.
... ...how simple the iron is to use. You simply open the board which is on sprung legs and your water tank is secured to the legs, you top this up with water and switch it on - within 3 minutes you're ready to go! The iron is in a box on the end of the board that closes away so my daughters hands are safe!
The instruction manual was a bit pants, but fortunately I saw a demonstration and fortunately it's so simple (unlike the IKEA chest of drawers still ...

Instructions are quite rubbish but any concerns or questions just send email to laurastar and will be answered.
All in all it has cut down my iron times by at least 60% so much more time for other things now.i would rate this machine 10/10 to be honest, ...

...£250, so I have told LauraStar they can keep it - I'm done with their machines. I strongly recomend anyone thinking about this Iron to think again. They are great when they work, but I've had 3 and they have all broken down. When you pay this much for an iron, it should last for many years! ...

Yes having read some of the other reviews i wish i had read them before buying ours .Yes they work really well,but we have constantly had leaks from the main cylinder and now we have been told it will cost £200 for a new cylinder plus the fitting costs, not worth it . cost a lot of money and they constantly break down and the repair costs are stupid. had ours for 3 years and is now going in the bin.Would strongly advise not to entertain buying one ...

Advantages: good when it works Disadvantages: brakes a lot
I bought LauraStar Magic S4 3 months ago. The system broke down 3 times since (the problem was the same all the times - Steam goes out from the unit). All that times I contacted to the manager of the selling company he was very rude and nasty to me. I had to send the system to New York (I live in Florida) and every time I paid for the shipping. They fixed the problems but I could use the system 2-3 weeks after fixing and system broke down again with ... ...I am not gonna do this any more. I spoke to my lawyer and we decided to file a lawsuit.
