What a uni!
Review of Leeds University by
ambidextra
Advantages: Great friendly city, cheap living, good reputation, excellent computer facilities
Disadvantages: Traffic, not particularly cheap union
...student at the University of Leeds and I 100% recommend it!!
COMPUTING FACILITIES
****************************
I would say that one of the strengths of Leeds University is its number of computer clusters. It has absolutely loads! There are 29 clusters currently provided by ISS (the university's computer network people) with over 1600 computers between them. I am currently sat in a rather large cluster with many, many computers free. ISS also ...

The latest on Leeds
Review of Leeds University by
kazzle
Advantages: Excellent Atmosphere
Disadvantages: Too many students and not enough facilities
...current second year student at Leeds University i thought i would share my opinions and experiences of this university with you.
Leeds is now the most popular choice for undergraduates and has the largest number of undergraduate applications in the UK. With over 23,000 undergraduates alone, Leeds is an excellent place to study.
When deciding on which university to attend I had certain things I was looking for and so I thought I’d write this ...

GO Leeds
Review of Leeds University by
chachaqueen
Advantages: Reputation, quality of facilities, sports and nightlife
Disadvantages: Expensive accommodation
...have been a student at Leeds University for 5 years now, and have experienced it both as an undergraduate and as a postgraduate student. So, I should have a good feel for the place by now!! I took my degree in Geophysics in the Earth Sciences Department, and then stayed on to do a PhD working on volcanic earthquakes.
Leeds University is one of the old red brick Universities, which received investment from the local textile industry to help it expand ...

A Degree In Life
Review of Leeds University by
Jeff81
Advantages: friendly, cheap, good facilities
Disadvantages: crime
...finished my second year at Leeds uni so it must be about time to share my experiences with you, my adoring public, well maybe.
I'm currently studying energy engineering, don't bother asking what it is as I don't really know myself, maybe I should sort that out soon... Anyway, my building is probably the worst on campus, being rather dark and cold, but most of the others, especially the newer ones such as the health science building are all decorated ...

Long Live Leeds
Review of Leeds University by
angelwds
Advantages: A fantastic, fun place to be
Disadvantages: You have to leave when you finish your course!
...opinion on the University of Leeds for a while so I thought I would share mine with you.
I began my study at Leeds in October 1990 (yes, that long ago!) but I'm sure it hasn't changed much and I would imagine it's only changed for the better.
When we arrived (I was lucky enough to have a friend from school on the same course) we quickly found our accomodation began to get acclimatised after being welcomed and given lots of information on what ...

Shoes, Booze and Lots of Flooze!!!!!!!
Review of Leeds University by
splatwoman
Advantages: Shopping, Drinking and Partying Hard
Disadvantages: Crime, Expensive and Traffic
I've been studying in Leeds for almost 2 years now, doing a degree in Medical Sciences.
Leeds, the City
Leeds has the best of everything, great restaurants, bars, clubs and shops! The cheapest nights are the ones us students enjoy the most, so here’s a quick list of a few of the cheapest bars and clubs in Leeds:
- The Dry Dock - a bar that’s in a canal barge in the middle of a dual carriageway! It’s a yellow card pub, just opposite the ...

well sort of Trinity and All saints
Review of Leeds University by
Emma20
Advantages: small, always someone u know about, good lecturers and courses
Disadvantages: too small, poor library resources, food and student union.
...is part of the main Leeds university and hence the degree is awarded from there. Most of my friends came to trinity because a) they couldnt getin to Leeds uni, or b) they didnt offer the course they wanted at leeds.
Basically tasc (trintiy and all saints college) is set in a nice picturesque part of Leeds, but alas no peace it is on the flight path for Leeds Bradford airport, makes it interesting in halls until you get used to it! The facilities ...

The Leeds side streets that you slip down...
Review of Leeds University by
MagicKitten
Advantages: Excellent university, everyting you'll ever need!!
Disadvantages: Obviously any big city has a high crime rate, so be careful!!! Also, the large campus can be off-putting at first.
...extremely vague opinion!!!
The University of Leeds is one of the biggest and most popular in the country, with lots of students!! (I don't know the exact number but I know the total number of students in the city, from the University and the Metropolitan University, and other smaller higher education colleges goes well into the tens of thousands, so that's a lot of students!!), and after only a few weeks here (I'm coming up to the end of week 7, ...

Chosen on a whim but had a MAGIC TIME
Review of Leeds University by
petertebay
Advantages: Good courses and location
Disadvantages: no swimming pool
...the choice to go to Leeds University it was the pin in the book method which I used and now I thank that pin and all it has done for me. Leeds Universty is an excellent place to do your degree. The courses are all well structured and with a lot of scope to go into the field of your choice. I was a Biology student there Graduating last year but still live on its doorstep. The union is a good place with a great bar and friendly atmosphere. The whole ...

Horray for Halls
Review of Leeds University by
hellyg314
Advantages: A great city and nightlife, it's a good university too!
Disadvantages: Can't think of any!
...spent my first year at Leeds uni and i've had a great time so far. I was put into accomadation at Boddington Halls, at first i was very disappointed as i knew that it was a long way out from the university campus but now i realise just how lucky i was!
Being at Bod with a student population of around 1200 meant that these halls had a community spirit like nowhere else. The social scene there was great with the highlight of the year being the all ...

A Great Grounding for your Chosen Career
Review of Leeds University by
lesinge2k
Advantages: Cheap student accomodation, good degree, excellent night-life, excellent day-life
Disadvantages: Crime levels?
...started at the University of Leeds in 1994, at the age of 18. From the moment I was dropped off I knew it was something special. The University Experience in itself is a life-changing thing, fending for yourself, and being away from home... I'm just glad I chose Leeds to do it at.
The degree I chose to do was Mechanical Engineering. This was a good course providing a full curriculum, accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. I now ...

Leeds United?
Review of Leeds University by
REG
Advantages: lively place to be
Disadvantages: long way from home for some
My daughter is currently at Leeds University.
It always has had a good reputation and it is didappointing to see them down the scale in the Times newspaper annual listing. However, I cannot bellieve they will sit on their laurels and will do what is needed to regain their place in the top ten.
What I do have to say about Leeds is the impression I get from her and it has nothing to do with the academic side. If you are a student and want good ...

IS it any good - The University of leeds
Review of Leeds University by
northernalex
Advantages: Clubs, Cheap beer
Disadvantages: Ugly Buildings
...graduated from the Univeristy of Leeds and I've been studying physics there for the last three years. To be honest I've had a really great time and am doing a PhD there soon so I can stay at this wonderful city.
The university itself has some of the ugliest buildings I've ever seen in my life, the E.C. Stoner building (where Physics and maths e.t.c. are situated) is a real eyesore and it is the best maze in the world.
We have an amazing social ...

Great place to be
Review of Leeds University by
kazc37
Advantages: Friendly, good academic reputation
Disadvantages: none
I work at Leeds Uni after graduating from one of its affiliated colleges four years ago and I have to say that it has one of the best reputations of universities in the country. Although it has dropped slightly in the academic league tables it has risen in league tables for student employability, research incomes and student popularity. It still has the highest number of student applications in the country. It is still expanding both in academia and ...
