Apart from that, I had most of other types and I played with my LEGO pretty much until puberty, probably at least until the age of 11 or 12. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lego is a toy that most of us have grown up with and now that my youngest brother is 5 I have the chance to play with it again, purely so that he doesn't have to play alone of course! Lego has developed so much in recent years with new shapes and new things to build. Lego in my mind is one of the best toys available because it encourages creativity and imagination, the two essential ingredients of a happy ... ...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In simple terms Lego consists of various coloured bricks, which come in different shapes, these bricks are made from moulded plastic and have studs on the top and tubes in the base of the brick so that the bricks can easily be joined together. The main Lego blocks are as described below:
8-studded block - this block is just over 3cm in length, 1cm in height and 1.5cm in width. It is the most common of the Lego bricks and comes ...

Advantages: I like the different colours, they are like rainbows. Disadvantages: Choking when eating too many at once.
Lego was invented by Ole Kirk Christiansen of Denmark in 1932. He called it Lego in 1934. What he'd been calling it for those two years is anyone's guess, and as my guess is as good as anyone's, I'll guess that he called it Bricky Sticky Joiny Together Thing, only in Danish. I don't speak Danish, but an online translator says that the Danish for Bricky Sticky Joiny Together Thing is Klods Klistret Sammenlaegge Sammen Genstand. As you can see, it ... ...but this wouldn't be true. Lego comes from the Danish 'leg godt', which the Danes claim means 'play well', but probably more likely means 'Godot's leg'. Waiting For Godot was written by Samuel Beckett in late 1948, which doesn't support this theory, unless he named his play after Lego, which is possible. We'll literally never know the truth.
Lego is lots of fun. You get the bricks and stick them together. You can make lots of things. A list of things ...

Advantages: Fun, creative, historic, durable Disadvantages: Some funny bricks, costly
...1934 he named his product LEGO from the Danish words: Leg godt (play well), strangely in Latin LEGO means 'I put together'
In '42 the factory burnt down, however the company (small back then) rebuilt it.
~The idea~
People put Lego brick together to make constructions. The plastic brick are to represent building bricks.
Constructions can be of many things, everything from err... art to buildings. A page even exists on Lego.com with different people's ... ...schemes.
These boxes contain Lego men and women (see pic), the surfaces, bricks and other props to be used. The use of Lego bricks themselves is decreasing, these box sets contain little or no Lego bricks.
The quality of these sets is quite high, and so are the assembly instructions.
~Other Lego Stuff Hidden Amongst the Rest~
The sad bit, Lego is moving away from the traditional Lego brick. As mentioned above you get Lego men and other non-traditional ...

...this was born the plastic LEGO brick, as we know it today. Initially it was only intended for sale in Denmark, but the idea was so revolutionary, that soon it had spread worldwide and eventually was hailed as. "Toy of the Century" by the British Association of Toy Retailers.
So what exactly is LEGO? Sold in various sized boxes, they are colourful plastic blocks, moulded into various shapes, each of which can be joined together to make- anything ... ...game started with LEGO is a game that never ends.” This is the proud boast of LEGO and one, which I totally agree with.
DUPLO is the name given to the larger bricks for little fingers, and gives an introduction from a very early age. Sold in buckets, they vary from the basic bricks, to themed sets such as Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh. Children can then progress through the basic LEGO, to the excellent “Technical LEGO”. Advantages: Fun to play... Disadvantages: ...will I ever grow out of it?!
I’ve played with Lego since I was very young and have tons of the stuff. A basket [the size of four milk crates] now sits delicately in what was my [and before, my brother’s] playroom, where we spent many happy hours.
HAPPY TIMES
Many of these happy hours were based on Lego. We would build humongous models of things ranging from the simplest of ferries to hovercrafts, and bungalows to high-towering skyscrapers – the possibilities ... ...are many different types of Lego toys, from adventure things with dinosaurs to electric trains. I personally really liked the train when I was young but I find it quite boring going round in circles now. But then again it is fun tying the model people up to the track then putting the train at full speed and running the helpless person over! [I’m so mean – I suppose that comes from my evil big brother!]
There are different ranges of Lego, ...

These days, Lego come in all shapes and sizes and you get Star Wars, undersea fortresses, wizards and knights, cowboys and Indians and racing games, all in those same garish and dayglo colours, but with all sorts of accessories, like dragons and palm trees - a far cry indeed.
I used to have Lego when I was a wee little thing (yeah, crack those jokes, hated cynics, the almighty dave27 was once a toddler), and remember it being one ... ...while I was playing with Lego - you would have thought they would have got extremely bored without me around to perk up their domestic situation.
You tend to grow out of Lego when you get to about ten, so it faded into the past for me as an artefact peculiar to the 60s and it was only when the thud and clatter of tiny feet emerged around 1990 (well, a couple of years later when Lewis dave27 was old enough to master "Oh, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE") that Lego ...

...with it. It was a Lego set!
Now the younger ones amongst you will not know what I mean by this as things have changed dramatically over the years. When I had my first Lego set it was in 1965 when it was THE new toy – and, yes I am that old!
When Lego (from the Danish Leg Godt meaning play well) first took the toy market by storm the only choice available to the consumer was the size of the set that you were going to buy. They were all basically ... ...paid the more Lego bricks you got – logically enough.

Bricks with eight bumps on the top arranged in two rows of four
Bricks with six bumps on the top arranged in two rows of three
Bricks with four bumps on the top arranged in two rows of two
Bricks with two bumps on the top
Bricks with a single bump on the top
Bases on which to build which were about 30 by 15 bumps

Lego is simply the best, long lasting and value for money toy you can buy. It was voted toy of the century in a recent poll (Fortune magazine and the British Association of Toy Retailers).

...had a few pieces of Lego furniture, it didn't hold my interest for long. I can remember my brothers building cars and garages and playing all kinds of ingenious games, while I read books and thought of it as a 'boy' toy.
So when I had two sons of my own, I assumed they would play with Lego. ...it. I still have my Lego collection safely stored away, why?, because when (God willing) I have children I want to pass on this gem of a toy to them so they can get as much fun out of it as I did.
Lego is suitable for most age groups but should be avoided by very young children and those prone to putting things in their mouths, as there are some small bits that could be a choking hazard. Unlike Mechano, Lego is not a “boys toy” – my little sister ... ...Lego is a toy that can be enjoyed by the entire family, whether it is mum, dad or the kids. It does let your creative flair run wild and is a good way for your child to let out their creative energy without drawing over your bedroom walls in felt tip (I was a bad child!).
Lego is the most durable substance known to man, some would argue rubber but would be wrong. This stuff seriously lasts! The plastic bricks are more solid than those holding up ...

Today, I feel like speaking about Legos, the danish blocks ! Firstable, when I was a child, I was playing a lot with theses blocks, I liked building many things, imagining stories around. It was the main activity I was doing, ...but it was so many moons ago!

...get a slap! Lego are those small little bricks that no doubt will have played a part in the life of any child, at some point during their early lives.
