    4 Stars Very good 03/01/2012

Advantages Advantages works hard, perfect for work / office, strong and durable

Disadvantages Disadvantages no HD output, quite bulky

The Lenovo Thinkpad T43 is one of a wide range of ThinkPads. The general body of the laptop is adaquate but not something I would choose for a personal laptop. I use the T43 at work and, when networked are very good machines. they are well built and can take knocks and drops very well. The technical specification of the machine is absolutely adaquate for my needs, i use the machine on a network of over 100,000 other machines, some desktops, but all of our laptops are T43's. The scratch pad + 4 mouse buttons is very useful depending on what position is more comfortable when using the mouse ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

    Advantages Advantages Works generally

Disadvantages Disadvantages totally unreliable DVD/CD player/writer, batteries that can explode in flame

Do not buy this laptop. The CD/DVD player has a habit of jamming up or gumming up. Poor door hatch design. The burner doesn't work because it doesn't spin consistently. They also have the batteries that catch fire and IBM/Lenovo made no effort to inform us and when I tried to get the promised replacement batteries they were a world of excuses and shipping charges. Also letters wear off the keyboard keys in a flash so you'll need an auxiliary keyboard at home. It's not an impressive machine and lousy support. I rated it satisfactory because it works, generally except it's pot luck if I want to ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages quite light, reasonably fast, comes with good software package

Disadvantages Disadvantages ugly, poor keyboard features

To start with the bad news, this laptop, like most thinkpads, is ugly! sorry! The laptop keyboard setup is awkward to use and the touch mouse pad seems slightly unresponsive to me. The screen is of reasonable quality although can sometimes look grainy to me, although that may be my contact lenses!! Power consumption is good and I can get about 3-3.5 hours on the train doing reasonably CPU intensive work. The laptop is reasonably fast for a laptop though and I have had no problems with the hardware itself, although the CD writer isn't the best and doesn't always complete writing a CD for me ... more

    3 Stars Quick review of ThinkPad T43 2668 - Pentium M 750 1.86 GHz - 14.1" TFT by tadamson 17/07/2008
When it came out this was one of the best notebooks available. Still powerful enough but seems dated compared to current units. The IBM/Lenovo build quality is still way above average.
