Advantages Advantages Cheap, reliable, easy to use, suitable for PC and Mac.

Disadvantages Disadvantages USB cable not supplied, expensive ink cartridges.

We desperately needed a new printer last year, so in October 2002, we toddled off to PC World to inspect the available printers. As it was to be used mainly for work and school, the cost of ink cartridges didn't really matter to us so we were just after something cheap, reliable and suitable for both PC and Mac. Looks and Set-Up = The Lexmark Z25 caught our eyes fairly quickly as it was one of the cheapest available - about £30 at the time. We played with the display model and decided it was reasonably sturdy and attractive, compared with some of the others in its price range. The support for ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, fast and cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't come with a USB cable

Lexmark Z25L I recently resigned from my job in a multi-national company to take up a position in a local franchise with only a few staff members. What does this have to do with writing an op about a printer? Simply that, once I had resigned, it occurred to me that I would no longer be able to use company printers and paper to print off my personal letters. Let’s be honest, in an office of 50 or so people, you can get away with printing personal bits and pieces, but in an office of 3 or 4, it may be frowned upon. With that in mind I went wallet-in-pocket to PC World to pick myself up a basic ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap, easy to use and reliable

Disadvantages Disadvantages ink cartridges are really expensive

Just over a year ago I found myself made redundant for the second time in less than a year. Rotton luck, you might think, but it all turned out for the best in the end as it meant that I was able to fulfil a long-time desire and enrol on a Creative Writing degree at University. The course is great, by the way (but that's another opinion, or will be, one of these days...) Only problem with starting University was that unfortunately, during enrolment week, my very old, very well used Lexmark printer finally gave up the ghost. Typical! As a student, I quickly found that a printer was an essential ... more

    Advantages Advantages Initially very cheap.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive in the long run, duff paper feeder.

The first thing that attracted me to the Lexmark Z25L is that it is one of the cheapest Inkjet printers around. Being a poor student at the time the printer was an obvious way to save some money. I have to say that after parting with my money I had some reservations, after all a printer that costs less than £25 must have some faults I just hoped that they weren't that major. The manufacturers inform you that that the printer prints at 9 pages per minute (ppm) in black and white and 6ppm when using colour. In my experience however, the real numbers are 5ppm in black and white and a measly 3ppm ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages cartridges cost quite alot

The Lexmark Z25 After my old inkjet printer died painfully and expensively it was time for me to purchase another. Being quite naïve I just thought I just though that a printer was a printer. I was really looking for the cheapest printer around and this puppy turned up for £22.50. I snapped it up and home it came, only to find that it came with the software but no cable to connect it to you computer. I popped back to the shop bought myself a USB cable connected it all up followed the onscreen prompts to installing the software no problem. Then it come to printing a test sheet and yes you ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages cartridges are very expensive

Our Epson Stylus Color 400 gave up on us the other week and we were in a dilemma as to what to buy next. So after a recommendation from my brother we thought we would try out this machine as it's so cheap. There's nothing to lose at £26.99 (from Argos)! Our thoughts were that if we are happy with it then we can hang on for some time before purchasing another. If it's not that great then it will just get us by for the time being. Well, so far so good. The advantages are:- 1. After having an older machine this is very compact! The paper support is more upright and the output tray is collapsible ... more

    Advantages Advantages low priced printer

Disadvantages Disadvantages high priced ink cartridges

I'm sure everybody who hasn't got a printer with their PC must think to themselves occasionally "i could really do with a printer!" I know i did, but this didn't happen more than once per month or so, so i was reluctant to spend too much on something i wouldn't be using too often. The Lexmark Z25 was just about the cheapest i could find during my search of 3 different PC shops. I have found it to be EXTREMELY easy to use - and i am not one of these PC buffs - and have even, on one occasion, had cause to ring the Lexmark help-number (for something which turned out to be my own foolish mistake) ... more

    Advantages Advantages Very Cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Unreliable, low quality

Firstly, this printer is incredibly cheap (I got mine for about £25, and worked out that if I got two ink cartridges free instead of one, then it would worth buying the printer just to get the cartridges as it would be cheaper!) However, I have outlined a few problems with the printer that I would like to bring to the attention of potential buyers: 1. I found that after a while, the drivers for the printer uninstalled themselves. I didn't know why, and have not been able to get to the bottom of the problem since, but I do know that it has never happened to me before with any piece of hardware ... more

Advantages Advantages Affordable, Wide Selection of Options, Nice Looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tech Issues with USB sometimes, Paper Feeder poor

I have two of these printers due to their low price. They are both reliable and have had no mechanical faults. Some issues arise if you boot up with it switched off I have found and the paper feeder will sometimes feed through a little off centre. As far as the software is concerned its great. You can select automatic options for speed or quality, while also being able to adust all the other bits and pieces. Also has an aligning facility for the cartridges and clearing the print nozzles. The cartridges that come with are fairly small, but it does have the option to have slightly larger ... more
