Prints up good! Review ofLexmark Z 65 Color Jetprinterby

Advantages: Easy to install, great printing inc photos, speedy, easy to use Disadvantages: Noisy! Cartridges are expensive.
We were given our Lexmark z65 when my dad replaced it with a super duper printer, and so far in 18months we have had no problems with it.
The Look.
The printer is about 17" long (43cm) 11" deep (28cm) and 9" high (23cm). It is grey and beige in colour. The Price.
We didn't pay for ours but you can buy them for around £40 - £50 probaby less if you hunt around. The Setup.
Easy. Plug and Play on a USB cable. Literally plug it in and it does all ... ...in about 10 minutes! Hurrah!
Cartridges.
Cartridges are expensive, £28 each. That is ridiculous when you consider the price of the machine itself. But, our cartridges have lasted us for the 18 months that we have had it, because we are relatively light users. We sometimes print photos and I do a reasonable amount of black text printing, and therefore our black ran out way before our colour cartridge. The problem with the colour cartridge is that ...

Advantages: Easy to intall, cheap to buy Disadvantages: Expensive cartridges
...Les had experience of Lexmark printers which he had owned previously (and only parted with it reluctantly when he split with a former girlfriend).
Available from a variety of PC type outlets, PC World are the only company I am aware of that don't stock Lexmark models.
The Z65 came with both Black & White and colour cartridges but these ran out quite quickly considering we only really used the printer for some holidays snaps and a couple of road ... ...and 15ppm colour.
The Lexmark Z65 has just a single interface as standard - USB. This allows it to be used with a variety of computers and Apple Macs. I have also been told that the Z65 can't be upgraded to the Z65n, so if you require a network option, you'll have to buy the 'n' model.
Overall, for a cheap and cheerful printer suitable for the odd holiday snaps and a couple of A-Z's, it has more than met our needs. However, it's probably best to ...

Advantages: Reliable, cheap Disadvantages: Not good with pictures on ordinary paper
I bought this printer for my partner, I thought it looked quite smart and not like his old printer that he had been having problems with. I watched him install the disk that came with the printer in a couple of minutes, the only connections needed to the pc were a simple USB cable and a power cable from the mains. It was very simple from unpacking to having it ready to work. Including putting in the two ink cartridges it must have taken less than ... ...nicely on the desk. It only has three buttons on the front, one is the power on/off and the other two are feed buttons for the two paper reserves that sit at the back of the machine.
I was surprised to find out that it can be left switched off and will switch itself on when you print something from the pc. The first time I saw it print I heard the pc say “printing started, printing complete”, that is a nice touch.
The speed it prints is quite fast, ...

Advantages: Fast, Great Results, Reliable and Looks Great! Disadvantages: Bulky
...now also own an all-in-one Lexmark machine which is almost as good. I say almost, because a design flaw contributes to feeding the paper poorly sometimes.
What I like about Lexmark printers, but the Z65 in particular is the software. It speaks to tell you what's going on. It tells you when it's printing, when it's complete, if it's low on ink, if there's a jam, etc which is a nice touch! You can also customise the print meter with downloadable skins ...
