Advantages Advantages Look, Cost, Design, Performance

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No usb provided,

My cheap printer had finally decided to give up the ghost and I had to buy another cheap one to replace it. So like many people do I picked up the Argos book and began searching online. Now what was I looking for. Price had to be cheap and when I say cheap I wanted it to be under £20 Manufactory - had to be a name that I knew and was recognised as a printer company Availability of supplies - had to be able to get cartridges from many outlets So I researched online and decided to Buy the Lexmark Z640 printer **Price and Availability** Cheapest Tesco.com and Tesco in store - £18.94 Comet - £19 ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap, lightweight

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Slow, expensiveink cartridges

I don't tend to do a lot of printing at home (I always tend to print things at work), but thought it would be a good idea to have a printer at home if ever there was an emergency. All I knew was that I wanted a basic colour printer, and for it to not cost too much. After a lot of searching I found the LEXMARK Z640 which was selling for £25.99 at Comet. I've been using this printer at home for about a year now and decided it was about time that I wrote a review about it. **What is it** The Z640 is a colour thermal inkjet designed for everyday printing needs. **Appearance** The printer is quite ... more

    Advantages Advantages reasonable price

Disadvantages Disadvantages photo printing quality isn't good

It's called easy colour printer. I have to say, it is really easy. It is easy to install, easy to use. There is basically no need to read manual at all. I so far have no problem using it. Quality Its print resolution is up to 4800 dpi. However the photo printing quality isn't good. So, I mostly use it to print documents (texts files), which is in normal black and white. The quality for black and well is alright. It is good enough for home printing. The papers load well. So far, no paper has every get stucked. Speed It is fast enough for me. I usually need to print in bulk and it could be up to ... more

Advantages Advantages Very very VERY cheap to run, if you know what you are doing. Reasonable quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages No USB cable supplied

Bought for printing out mainly text as I was starting college, upon unboxing I found that there was no black ink cartridge supplied. However, if you scout around amazon, you will find that number 17 and 27 ink cartridges are extremely cheap, so I ordered a no 17 black for around £7. After having done so, the printer was still cheaper than most of the competition. I now mainly use it for photo printing on glossy 4x6 paper. For this the quality is good enough, though it doesn't do borderless. The main advantage of this printer is the refill possibilities. The coloured caps come off the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap Printer

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive to Run

I was first exposed to Lexmark back in 2000 when i worked for PC World. I was informed that they were used Epson Technology for their printers but i always associated the company with having expensive ink cartirdges at £30!!. Anyway, the company was created in 1991 with the objective of creating printers for both businesses and home use. They were also one of the first companies to offer cheap printers below the £50 mark and i bought this printer for £20 so this seemed a good buy. Since Lexmark use Epson technology, I was keen to try it especially as it is was affordable and judging by the ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to instal Lightweight

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None as yet

I bought this printer to just do a few "printing chores" at work. I was fed up with going into internet cafes to print out schedules, staff photos and profiles, etc., and so I decided to treat us to a printer to link up to my personal laptop, which I bring into work and which everybody tends to use. It is currently on special at Argos for £19.99, so I thought I'd have one, easy to purchase in the manner of all normal Argos walk-in transactions. You do have to purchase a USB cable to connect it, but thats only another couple of quid, and the lady on the till does check to see whether you want ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, Light Weight, excellent printing quality..

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Well, I bought my lexmark printer from currrys, this printer's printing quality is excellent. When you compare with some other quality printers sometimes we will not be able to tell the difference of their quality. To setup this printer is quite easy, anyone can do it . This is printer is compatible with Windows 98/Me/2000/XP. The printing speed of this printer is a bit slow but still it worths. A small problem occurs with printer is the Ink cartridge. It is quite expensive. When you buy both colour and black we may not get it under £30. The printer's price fits in anyone's budget. Its under £ ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap, reasonable quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages lightweight materials, no black ink cartridge included, quite slow

This is a basic inkjet printer. Having said that, it costs less than replacement cartridges for most printers, so don't write it off too soon. It currently sells for £20 from the post office (which is incredible value) including a low capacity colour cartridge. It takes either low volume or high volume cartridges (depending on the depth of your pocket). It is possible to print with only the colour cartridge, but it will last much longer if you also get a black cartridge. The software needs to be told what you have fitted, but then it sorts out the printing. The colours look a bit faded ... more

    Advantages Advantages Small and cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Draft quality printing

I bought this from ASDA for £19.96, so it beats the prices I've seen everywhere else. I wanted something cheap and small to fit my desktop, and would be decent enough to produce black and white leaflets good enough for photocopying. So far it is good enough. The setup was worrying, only one printer cartridge, but that was ok, you can load just one or two, I have not come across that before. The noise is acceptably low and the speed is sufficient for, I'd say, most home printing jobs. The footprint is small enough for most home offices and actual print quality is fine for most jobs, though not ... more

1 Star Quick review of Lexmark Z 640 by micquael 08/11/2007
Absolute rubbish. Flimsy. Printed poor quality test page on installation then in green only. Has now given upthe ghost completely. If you must waste your money on this junk have it delivered directly to your recycling centre or rubbish dump and save yourself the trip.
