LINKSYS WAG54GS WITH SPEEDBOOSTER

Advantages: Very quick and can handle a lot.
Disadvantages: NONE.

...to cables again...trust me! Linksys are also very helpful with a one 2 one chat facility online to get help with your queries!!!!!!! Along with this I have tried a Belkin 54mbps wireless card (which I dont really recommend, but it works) and a netgear 108mbps which works extremely well with it :) ...

So much better than the old WAG54G

Advantages: Good Wifi coverage, easy configuration, good config interface
Disadvantages: Possible problem with configuring using Safari.

I don't know why Linksys keep re-using their model names/numbers so confusingly. This is completely defferent from the 2-year old WAG54G router/modem that we bought it to replace. Given the very poor reliability and weak wifi signal that we had experienced with the old one, we had misgivings about buying Linksys again, but this had the right specification (including ADSL2+) and it was on special offer at PC world for 40 UKP (sadly no longer). We ...
...model. Over two weeks it has not failed or needed re-starting. Both wireless and wired bandwidth seem very good. But the best thing is that the wireless signal coverage in our house has been transformed. I can finally use the internet from my laptop in any room of the house, whereas with the old WAG54G I had to sit in specific positions and only in certain rooms! Unlike the previous reviewer we have not had any major problems with installation. ...

Good router, recommended

Advantages: Supports both wired and wireless, easy to set up, good size, step by step set up disc.
Disadvantages: Could be complicated to install, wires quite short, could do with more instructions

I bought this router from amazon, because I had been recommended it by a friend. Me and my housemate are not computer experts by any means, and we managed to set it up, although it probably took us around an hour to do. There is a set up disc, which is helpful as it takes you through from connecting the wires to actually connecting to the internet, although you appear to need some additional knowledge to be able to complete the set up. We couldn't ...
...use windows 'set up home network', which it did not say on the disc or anywhere that I could see. But after that it worked fine, it is wired up to my friends computer and I use it wirelessly on my laptop, and the speed of the connection is very good. So far we have had absolutely no problems with the connection cutting off or such. We have not yet managed to secure our connection, because there was not much explanation as to how to do this...so ...

Fantastic wireless router

Advantages: Doddle to setup, fast and very good signal
Disadvantages: A Little jargonated!

...and the like, and this Linksys is by far and away the easiest to setup - simple short bullet points with no expectation that you know the ins and outs of wireless networking. Follow these and you really can't go wrong. It is very quick too, the internet was slightly faster and more responsive than with the previous router but the best thing was the wireless signal strength. We have very dense walls and the wireless adapter is at a diagonal angle ...
...it simply got a poor signal at best although this was adequate for browsing. With this router, the signal is much better so I'd highly recommend going for the "speedbooster" version over the standard one, especially as they are only a few pounds difference just to be on the safe side. ADSL2 is a bit of a gimmick as we haven't even topped 20mbits on widely available broadband connections really, so most routers are capable of handling todays connections. ...

Quick review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster WAG54GS - wireless router

I have owned A WAG54GS for a year now. It overheats and switches itself off after 2 minutes of operation. The only way I can make it run is to point a desk fan directly at it to keep it cool. When the WAD54GS is rebooted it often loses its settings necessitating a restore of the configuration. Speed and wireless operation is good when it running. Setup and user menus are OK but they could do with including a router reboot option to save having to hardware reset the router. ...

Quick review of Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Gateway with SpeedBooster WAG54GS - wireless router

Unlike other users I am very unhappy with my WAG54GS ver.1.1. It has to be re-set time out of number. It's range in my home is max 10 metres. Speed is ok. Am now (17 Nov 2007) heading to PC World in West Dublin to get an alternative that - 1. does not require constant re-setting and 2. has a better range. P.S. My daughter and her fiance are computer science graduates and have tried all the tricks they know to get it work better without success. ...

Linksys Wireless router with speed booster

Advantages: Good signal and speed, easy setup, no problems
Disadvantages: If left on it does get rather hot

I purchased my router from PC World and i got two USB Network Adapters too (model number WUSB54GS) for both my PC's, and what good vaue for money! The setup took only a few minutes and once it got going it worked perfectly, and still does today. It can fit just about anywhere and the signal stays great just about anywhere in the house. I used to be on a wired modem and there is almost no speed difference at all. I have never ever had any problems ...

You don't always get what you pay for

Advantages: All in one solution
Disadvantages: Known fault prevents use with my ISP

I purchased this router for additional security and to allow wireless access for a laptop in the house. I was attracted by it being ADSL 2 so reasonably future proof and the promise of fast, strong signal wireless access. Sadly I never got that far. It recognised the ADSL line fine, my two wired PCs RJ45 connectors lit up happily, but it just would not detect or accept any settings I put in despite me knowing them to be correct. I use Freedom2Surf ...
...its automatic installation fail and my own attempts at setting it up manually I gave in and sent it back. I later found out that this particular piece of kit with f2s will set the host IP address 1 digit up from what it actually is and there is no way to override this. I replaced it with a Billion 7402VGP wireless router as per my ISP's instructions and this has worked from the moment I set it up. ...
