Advantages: Cheap; Secure; Small; Not ugly; Works well; Relatively easy to configure Disadvantages: warm; No matter how easy they make it networking still complicated.
...I finally plumped for the Linksys WAG354-G ADSL Home Gateway to wirelessly connect two PC's (one laptop and one Desktop) to each other and to my broadband internet connection. My only reason for choosing it was that it seemed to receive LESS bad reviews than its main competitors in the home networking market, Belkin, Netgear et alia. But the fact that every single router I looked at, including this one, came replete with plenty of negative reviews ... ...CD and available from the Linksys website goes much further in defining everything. I cannot say this strongly enough, if you're not already familiar with networking then it is imperative that you thoroughly absorb these. Only in this way will you discover what is relevant to your network and what is not.
By doing this, within 30 minutes, my laptop was happily talking to the Gateway and making a stable and secure connection to the internet. Security ...

...are hard to find and Linksys keep poor version control information.
*It crashes
However as you can see from the list above it isn't all sugar plumbs and roses for the linksys. As I have said this router isn't suited to high load networks, meaning that if you transfer a lot of files or connect to many external sources at once your going to have trouble. I suspect that the reason this router is so cheap is that it uses a slow microprocessor, thus ... ...is not well publicised by Linksys and even when you find it the version control information and compatibility information is bad. Though they do include genuine updates in their firmware versions - this just isn't too clear until you find it in the routers interface. Eventhough this is from the recognised and generally excellent people at Cisco systems, this is not their best product.
Overall this is an acceptable device, had I known what I had ...

...that I sent back to Linksys with a fault... 3 months ago.
Yes, it had taken 3 months for them to collect my old modem, and send me a replacement.
I'll stress that again. 3 months.
Now if you want to read about all the tech specs and stuff like that, take a look at the other excellent reviews, this will be just a short (EDIT: long, sorry!) opinion of the product really, just in case you're about to take the plunge into buying one. I'm really not ... ...Tiscali and looked on the Linksys website for a solution. Nope. Nothing worked.
Time to get the phone out. Held for what seems like a day, then finally got through to someone.
I had to download some firmware, and install that.
That didn't work either.
After a long time of punching in numbers, installing things and unplugging ...

The Linksys Wireless ADSL Gateway is a hot little number in more ways than one. The slinky silver casing is most pleasing to the eye; this model is geared to the more elegant and subtle tastes of the European market and is much better than the previous design which was quite bulky and never fitted in with the décor.
So if you're a techie that loves your gadgets and devices all over the house, this is one the wife wouldn't complain about. The ADSL ... ...wall, especially if you intend to have a completely wireless network, I however am partially wireless and have three PC's connected to the Gateway/router via Ethernet cables, this is not a problem when the router is wall mounted however if you are going to perch it on your desktop Please Do Be Careful as although this new design is sleek and compact it is also very lightweight ,unlike the previous US design, and with trailing network cables I am ...

I was actually looking to buy a wired router for my home network, but when i came across this wireless one, which was only £4 more than an equivalent wired one, i couldn't resist, and i'm glad i didn't.
It has all the credentials of being a great router. WPA 2 encryption (the strongest you can currently get to stop people hacking into your wireless network). It has an inbuilt ADSL modem capable of speeds up to 24Mbps when the new ADSL2+ protocol ... ...other major cities)

It looks great and takes up very little room.
I has a SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) hardware firewall, to help stop malware getting onto your computer or communicating outwards.
You can set it to dynamically ...

If you're looking for a wireless router... then stop looking, you've found the one you want!
This router has some excellent feautres, it is setup up very easily and has great performance. All connections are working brilliantly.

It's connection to the internet is also excellent. It connects via the built in ADSL modem which is also ADSL2 compliant for the future. even if your a complete novice at the networking side of computers, which i am myself, you will find this a doddle. reading through the instructions before hand helps alot. you basicaly first off follow the instructions and they tell you everything you need to do and know. i had my router installed within 10 minutes and it was working perfectly! the signal reception is very good and i get a signal of "very good" even in my garden.
