...networking kit, also supplied by Linksys took care of all the shared access to the Telewest broadband internet service and any file and printer sharing that I may have set up between my PC, thus the main hub of this kit used to go under the lengthy title of ‘combined broadband router/switch/wireless access point’.

...ended up going to the Linksys website and downloading and running the setup tool they have on their site. Worked a treat. The configuration of the software, as I said, was easy but I find that the use of only a password, and no username, isn't secure enough for me. On reboot, everything worked as it should have and all the computers on my network (including the laptop) had their address (192.168.1.100 etc.). Very easy to setup and the options while ...

If you are considering this router please, please be wary of the version number, it can be found on the bottom next to the serial number. We made the mistake of thinking that there was one version and as a result ended up with a bricked router, no amount of firmware updates could fix it and in the end we opted for dd-wrt, an open source Linux firmware rewrite, which although very technical, ended up being a very nice option rather than binning the router.
Make sure that you don't end up with a V5 and you'll be fine other wise you're in for a lot of headaches.
You Have Been Warned.

Advantages: Price, signal strength Disadvantages: small disadvantage in setup
I actually bought this item because of the reviews on this site. It was relatively cheap comparing it with competitors but that doesnt matter because it rocks.
I have had it for a few weeks now and its range is around 20-30m. I keep it in my garage and it still penetrates the concrete walls and gives good reception for all of my wireless devices.
I use it for my psp and laptop. It allows me to play online with the psp and that is just amazing ...

...which gave me the relevant Linksys support page and then it was really easy. I don't want my neighbours checking out the family photos after all! If you don't set a code then anyone with a laptop that can pick up these kinds of transmissions could sit outside in a car messing with your hard drive. This means that figuring out the 'WPA pre-shared key' - uninviting as it may sound - is well worth the effort.
Now I can email people in bed or in the ...

As Linksys is owned by Cisco when you purchase this router you know you're purchasing something which will last and will be reliable. The wireless part of this router is amazing, the signal is excellent and I haven't had a problem since I purchased this item.
