Advantages: Easy to play, different levels, meet new people, free, addictive. Disadvantages: You don't know who you are playing and conversation should be monitired if you are going to allow young children to play.

Advantages: Entertaining. Tactical. Addictive. Disadvantages: It crashes a lot.
Literati is essentially Scrabble - a word game for 1 - 4 players. You can play it for free on yahoo.com. There are also versions of the page in other languages, e.g. yahoo.fr, yahoo.it, etc. Playing on these is a good way to brush up on your languages, and all you need to do to play is pick a unique Yahoo username. The satisfaction of actually beating a French speaker (the only other language I know) is great!

Advantages: Good Fun. Challenging. Disadvantages: Some of the words accepted are a little strange
I have been playing literati for about a year and it is very similar to scrabble, except that the rules I believe to be American, and as for the dictionery, well some of the words accepted are a little strange. If you have a wide vocabulary, then this is the game for you.

I love this game, I play it on yahoo all the time. It's really cool you get a couple of people to play along with you, and you all take turns. You get different color blocks which are all worth different amounts of points. It's not really addictive, it will only be if you are crazy over word games and winning.
