    Advantages Advantages Humorous and appealing

    Obviously, my favourite re-telling of traditional fairy tales is by Roald Dahl in the utterly fantastic Revolting Rhymes. Now, I’m firmly of the opinion that no children’s author is as good as the delightful Dahl, nor ever will be (and those that make their money by flogging a horse til it’s gone beyond death and passed into the equine afterlife should be ashamed of themselves. Rowling, I’m looking at you). However, part of the appeal of Dahl is that the wordplay is very tricksome and intelligent.     - The book - This is another one of Nick Sharratt's re-telling of a traditional story / tale. Please note that the picture shown by ciao does not match the title so I've added a photo of the front cover. The story is cleverly told in rhyme, the first page of which I have shown below to give you an idea of the content: 'Little Red Riding Hood's Mum said, "Your gran's been on the phone. She's feeling rather poorly And she's ha a little moan. So would you be a sweetheart, Pop over right right away. And take this shopping with you, It would really make her day."
