Advantages: Wide range of goods, regular clearance sales, cashback, excellent customer sevices, fast delivery Disadvantages: High interest rate if you choose an extended credit option
...so, a catalogue such as Littlewoods is extremely handy. The company manages several different catalogues such as Janet Frazer, and also has high-street branches in most towns, along with Littlewoods Extra stores run in a similar fashion to Argos. They also do finance, like loans and credit cards. The product I'm reviewing here is their main mail-order catalogue.
I'll just warn you now, this review has turned out a lot longer then planned, because ... ...get yourself an account with Littlewoods is amazingly easy. You can call them, apply online or fill out a form from either a promotional leaflet or a friends' catalogue. (Contact details at the bottom of the review). Just remember that you are authorising them to carry out a credit check on you if you apply, as the whole idea of a catalogue is based on credit - you can order goods now and pay for them interest-free over a period of 20 or 38 weeks, ...

...I myself have run a Littlewoods catalogue for quite a few years now and to tell you the truth, I find this catalogue about the best there is, they have some excellent goods included in their catalogues and often have sales that are totally unbelievable, with goods going for up to 60% off.
I myself was recommended to the catalogue via my girlfriend (and she received a nice £25 knocked off her balance thrown into the bargain) and at first I never ... ...but as time went by, loads of orders came in (via friends and family) and my commission began to mount up. You see, when you run a catalogue you receive 10% cash or 12.5% goods commission on all sales i.e. should you get £1,000 in orders, you get a nice £100 just for the sake of collecting payments and ordering stuff for them, easy money if you ask me.
I have also become a select member of this catalogue now, and with this I regularly receive some ...

Advantages: shop from home Disadvantages: sending broken items back
I started an account with Littlewoods in about 1998, and carried it through to about 2000. I will never have an account with them again and I will tell you why.
To start with, admittedly everything was fine, until one day I ordered two items for my daughter, a skirt, and a pair of trainers. I received neither, just a letter to say stock was being delayed. Fine. Until I got my statement and found I had been charged for both items. I rang customer ... ...reordered both items for me (which I did then receive).
Ok so that was a minor hiccup, and everything would have been fine if it weren't for my friend ordering a vaccum cleaner from my catalogue. It broke within about a month, so I phoned customer services again and we sent it back, and they sent us a replacement. This one lasted about a day before sparks came out the back (slightly dangerous don't you think).
Again I phoned customer services,but ...

Advantages: If you open a flexible account you get 90 days interest free credit, The Manager at Southampton store is helpful Disadvantages: Far too many to mention
The Littlewoods current advertising campaign is keen to make us believe that Littlewoods Would, due to my recent experiences with this store I feel that a more appropriate slogan for Littlewoods advertising campaign would be Littlewoods Won't, don't and couldn't care less anyway. For about 2½ years I had no problems with the account - other than the fact that like many others I found ...

Littlewoods is really a proper High Street shop, but for this opinion I’m reviewing just their catalogue service (note category). They offer several catalogues in fact - the classic Littlewoods catalogue (mostly fashion), the relatively new LX (mostly designer brand-ware stuff I think) and a much more general one that goes by the name of Index (this is what I‘m really focusing my review on).
