I have held a Lloyds TSB account for years - not that I have used it much because I am constantly poor. I began to think that there wasn't much point in having an account which I never used so I decided to go into a city branch and close the account.

...of my recent woe with Lloyds TSB. If you are about to become a student, or are thinking of changing to this account, read this closely. It may save you a lot of hassle... For a number of reasons (which I choose not to go into here), I only converted my ordinary account to a student account throughout the last year of my degree. In the couple of months before I began university I realised I needed to open an account asap. The Name Lloyds TSB was formed in 1995, but they have been around longer...
Lloyds Bank was founded 1765, in Dale End, Birmingham, by button maker John Taylor.
Trustee Savings Bank (TSB) was created in 1985.

She banks with Lloyds TSB so her first instinct was to obviously takes me into the bank she's with and in there the lovely lady said "We offer a Young Savers account with pays a competitive rate of interest at 5.50% (or whatever)".

I initially chose to bank with Lloyds, a few years ago when I was starting out as a student at University. The service was as to be expected, and was friendly & efficient (even though I was rarely in credit!) Although, I do occasionally pop into other branches and let them sort out the paper work and fax it on for me. So I still do get the benefit of a friendly face if needbe.
