Advantages: Customisable DPI, Interchangeable weights, Smooth to use Disadvantages: Right hand specific
...(at the time) over the Logitech MX 518 because of the added benefits of having a high DPI laser mouse for gaming. The weight of the mouse is customisable by means of inserting small (4.5g and 1.7g) weights into a neat little cartridge that lives underneath the mouse. This was one of the best things with this mouse as it allowed me to keep the same weight and feel of my old wireless one - very handy not having to get used to another mouse again!
... ...independently customisable from within the Logitech software. Personally I don't have this installed; I use the windows default Logitech G5 drivers as prefer to keep things simple. To be honest I don't notice any difference in all apart from the loss of customisable buttons and such (which I never really got round to using anyway!)
With this mouse I brought a Razer eXactmat, which is where I encountered the first real problem. It worked fine on ...

Advantages: Very comfortable grip, extremely smooth across the mouse mat Disadvantages: May be considered expensive to some - but not if you want a great mouse!
...a specific gaming mouse. Logitech are renowed for their gaming equipment and after hours of research on the internet decided the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse was exactly what I needed. I loved the look of this mouse from the moment I saw it but as my hands are not that big (i'm a girl after all!) I was slightly concerned that the mouse wouldn't feel as comfortable as the smaller mouse did that I'd had before. It also looked a little heavier than my previous ... ...mouse to surf the Net to get used to it and I was extremely surprised by how it fit so perfectly in my hand and how comfortable I immediately was with it. After a short while I decided it needed a real test - some online gaming! I'm no pro when it comes to gaming, I just play to relax, but I really appreciated the 'click' feature of the scroll wheel (as this is what I use to change weapons on CoD) and the effortless way the Polytetrafluoroethylene ...

Advantages: Customisable weight, 2,000dpi provides the highest sensitivity available Disadvantages: Designed for right-handers, Can be unresponsive on some mouse mats
...I went for this, the Logitech G5.
Basically, this mouse is designed for gamers as you can tune the sensitivity for different uses. You can also customise the weight of the mouse to your liking. The mouse comes with a small tin that contains eight 1.7g and eight 4.5 g weights. The weight cartridge is on the underside of the mouse so all you have to do is pick the weight you want and then slide the tray in the cartridge opening. Changing the weight ... ...would suffice. A utility called Logitech Setpoint is included with the mouse which allows you to program two additional dpi settings to your preference. The other buttons include the two main left and right buttons, a scrollwheel and a thumb button which is on the left side of the mouse making not the best mouse for left-handers. The scrollwheel allows you to make the movement up and down, but also lets you scroll from side to side. The logitech ...

...under a local promotion of Logitech products, so from a value for money perspective it represents excellent value (about half price).
In most respects, the G5 seems to be very similarly constructed to the MX518 and that little beauty is still going strong after about three years of hard use, so I don't expect to have any issues on that front.
We live in a rural town in Australia that has a temperature range through the year of -9C up to 45C (no ...

I purchased this mouse to replace my trusty, grey, completely standard, comes-with-the-computer mouse which had finally bitten the dust.
I initially wanted an infra red wireless mouse but due to price and a previous bad experience I decded to go with this highly advanced corded mouse from Logitech

The weight and balance is completely adjustable, making for a nice feel of motion, and it is ergonomically fantastic and my hand is comfortable with it, even after after many hours of solid use.
Unfortuneatly the plastics used (despite the expensiveness of the mouse) do not feel so good. They are not as pleasant to touch as I would expect for such a high ...

Advantages: Feels very solid, accurate, on-the-fly ajustment Disadvantages: Cable material catches edges, middle mouse click is flimsy
I bought this mouse 2 weeks ago as my old microsoft one died on me. I play alot of games so i thought i would try a gaming mouse for a change.
A couple of unique features about this mouse is the fact that you can change the weight of the mouse. This is done with a small tray on the underside of the mouse. You push a button and it slides out and allows you to put little weights (provided in a cool brushed aluminim box) in the tray and slide it back ... ...4.5 grams. This is great for fine tuning the 'feel' of the mouse.
The other unique feature is the fact that you can change the sensitivity of the mouse on the fly. This is great in games when you may want to make the mouse less sensetive for long range sniping and a high sensitivity in tight situations. Also if you are using photoshop and want to make some very fine details this mouse makes it alot easier to do so. The mouse itslef is very comfortable ...

Advantages: Stylish, nice fit (if your right handed) and good for gaming Disadvantages: need a dark, heavy weaved mouse pad to get the fullness out of it
I have had this mouse for over 2 years and its probally the best mouse i have ever used.
I have used it on endless hours of gaming, surfing the web and was heavily used during my last year of Uni. Still, its goes on. However, i did have the buy a Steel Pad Qck because in oder to see the full benefits of the mouse, you need a dark, heavy weaved mouse pad in order to get all of the accuracy out of it. These usually range from about £10 and come in ...

Advantages: Very smooth, easy to set up Disadvantages: The cable can be a little strange
Geeky... is that a word? Anyway... I bought this mouse to replace my trusty wireless optical that had started to show signs of old age, I had read all the reviews and even though I was going back to a "corded" mouse, I was not too worried, as after all, I never actually moved the last one from the desk anyway.

Although I imagine over a long time that may show itself. At the moment, I am not using them but I will try them again. The wheel works well, but after buying a new widescreen monitor, I find I have no use for the sideways scrolling function, so I have already reassigned them to page up and down (or "cruise up/down" as they call it) The mouse is comfortable ...

...upgrading the mouse firmware from Logitech website. But guess what? Logitech do not currently have a firmware which can be upgraded on Windows XP 64bit versions.

Advantages: When it works, it works very well. Disadvantages: Not sure it can handle hot environments.
...My suspicion is that Logitech gaming mice don\'t like above normal heat, because both my G5 and MX518 gaming mice are broken... with exactly the same diconnecting symptoms. Added to which, these mice are expensive. My G5 was around £45 when I bought it, and the MX518 not much cheaper a few months before.
