The Logitech Cordless G7 mouse. ''Best Gaming Mouse on the market'' according to some PC Gamer magazines and reviewers.
I would have to agree in certain areas about that. Indeed It is a good mouse. It has a generally nice grip, looks good, and when needs be has a 2000dpi sensitivity. This truly is the mouse made for gamers.
After ordering my G7 off the Logitech website for what I thought at the time was a ridiculous amount. £70 when I brought it. ... ...amount, to around £50 this is a fair price I would say. On arrival I got my new mouse out, knowing it was a wireless I knew there would be some installing to do. So once I found the disc, I whacked it in the drive, started loading the install up. Now here is where you really know if your a hardcore gamer or not. If the answer is yes, you can easily spend the next 20mins fiddling with various settings varying from DPI to scroll rate and battery life ...

Advantages: Good shape Good responses Two batteries Disadvantages: Too sensitive Needs two batteries Gave me RSI symptoms
First impressions are good. Great looks, fancy packaging. Mouse feels comfortable in the hand (more on this later). Mouse moves easily on most surfaces and doesnt seem to need a mouse mat though I use one with a wrist rest for health purposes.
Installed easily and smoothly and was recognised by my windows XP Pro setup. I started up the configuration software and this was problem free and would be simple for the unsosphisticated user. Plugging the ... ...simple as falling off a log.
For gamers (such as myself) I immediately made way for the more complex tab (not clearly mark) in the SetPoint software. This enabled me to set-up 5 pre-defined resolutions (dpi) that are accessed and changed via two buttons behind the wheel on the top of the mouse.
Moving around windows and software applications was smooth though the extreme accuracy did sometimes make it difficult to alight on a button or control ...

Advantages: Fast, Good build quality, Hot swappable batteries, great software Disadvantages: None
...It's the little things logitech have thought about that make this mouse stand out from the crowd.
First off, it's comfy - Very comfy.
I find myself gaming for hours, with no problems whatsoever - I don't even use a mousemat as the high quality laser works just fine on my desk surface
Secondly, The little features that make this mouse shine
Batteries - The mouse has 2 hot-swappable batteries.
This means you can leave one battery to charge, while ... ...or begins to get low, simply swap them over and carry on - No hassle, no waiting to recharge.
Buttons - Obviously, left and right click - But the G7 offers more!
It has sensitivty controls, full, medium and low - Personaly i configured the medium setting to be my preffered sensitivty for desktop browsing - This means during gaming or any concentrated task i can lower or raise the sensitivty to my liking just by hitting a button.
It also has a ...

by the way, logitech support is 2nd to none.
Overall, If you need wireless and are right handed get the G7 no question. If you don't need wireless get a G5
p.s. In reply to the 8 hour battery life comment, that is from roughly constant use. The fact you have 2 batteries which can be quick changed doesn't make this a issue as you could change your battery every morning or night. And the charger for the battery is the receiver or at least the ...

Advantages: Ultra fast, ultra responsive, lightweight Disadvantages: Nothing springs to mind
...of the current crop of Logitech mice, the hand sits naturally and comfortably, with all the controls within a minute movement of the fingers.
You'll notice the lightweight of the unit, unlike most wireless systems, almost half the weight of my MX1000, and hasn't caused any strain through many hours of gameplay. Coupled with the easy glide feet this thing moves!!
A nice touch is the adjustable DPI setting just behind the wheel. Set it to 2000dpi ... ...of which, using this beast for applications, such as browsing is tops. Again with the lightweight and adjustable speeds, it adds to its overall useability.
A top package which I hope will be on my desk for many a year, or at least until logitech come up with something better. ...

Advantages: High DPI, Comfortable, Customizable buttons, Two batteries Disadvantages: SetPoint software, May not fit in some peoples hand
The Logitech G7 must be one of the best mice on the market today. It is capable of handling from 400-2000 DPI (Dots Per Inch) using the SetPoint software (Which I find disappointing at times when it doesn't detect my mouse, but at other times works flawlessly and allows you to customize which buttons do what, including changing what the tilt wheel does) which means you can go from pinpoint accuracy to blazing speed depending on which you need or ... ...the SetPoint software at anywhere between 400 and 2000 DPI, the buttons to change speeds are conveniently placed right below the scroll wheel. As long as you keep one of the batteries in the USB Charger/Receiver station (Might i add that the station looks very stylish indeed) your almost guaranteed to never be stuck in the middle of something and have to go hunting or out shopping for batteries that you needed at that critical moment. Just a push ...
