It's a Logitech product which means it is made well and well known, which is always a bonus when buying electrical goods. I've never had any problems with the product so have never needed to get in touch with the company, but I'm sure, being the large brand that they are they would be more than helpful if anyone did have problems with it. ...what to think of the Logitech Quickcam Messenger when my mum got it for my birthday. Using my own digital camera as a webcam is awkward, it turns off every few minutes and I had to make my own cradle out of lego to support it. But then again, the resolution, brightness/contrast and focus is brilliant. Could the Quickcam, specially made for the job, do any better?

...shops, I came across this Logitech QuickCam Messenger Webcam which was priced at £19.99 which seemed reasonable as the others were in excess of £30 which seemed steep to pay for one.
After i bought it i opened it and the contents were as follows: The web camera itself, complete with the USB lead (which will work with either USB 1/2), a rubber stand, a CD and a brief but easy to follow installation manual.
The camera itself is round shaped and as ... ...and the outer part of which is a focus ring. On top is a small button which you can use to capture a quick snapshot when you are running the QuickCapture software. There is also a microphone which is very handy.
The stand that comesa with it works quite well as it sits steadily on top of a computer monitor (or elsewhere) without falling off- It is easily, to adjust and rotate too.

...the most out of the Logitech Quick Cam, you really need broadband. Standard dial up will result in a stop start video with the audio out of sync.
Overall this web cam and built in microphone is good value for money providing you have broadband and you don't douse it in orange juice!

I was bough the logitech quickcam messenger for christmas and i believe it cost arounf the £50 mark from argos. Its slightly cheaper now and I know you can get them for around £30 brand new, not to mention much cheaper for used ones from Ebay. The cam was very quick to install and requires no technical knowledge whatsoever, in fact, if youre capable of reading this review then youll have no problems installing the camera!
All you do is put the accompanying ... ...my pc, so i emilled logitech and the customer service team were extremely helpful and even gave me links to websites from which i could download the necessary files. One fault that i have noticed with the camera, is if you play with the focus ring alot then it tends to crash and freeze up and this affects the whole computer, which needs to be re started before the camera will work again. ...weekend I invested in the Logitech Quick Cam Messenger. I wasn't looking for anything too over priced and just wanted something basic and once getting it home and installing it for the price I paid, it is everything that I need and more.
The Quick Cam Messenger is compatible with Windows 2000/ XP and also all major messaging applications including MSN, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, AOL etc etc.
The Cam comes with HP PhotoSmart Software and also a disk ... ...is extemely user friendly and easy to install as it has a wizrd like most things and I didn;t come across any problems so is very user friendly.
Once installed you are away, I personally use MSN most of the time, I CAM inself has three changable outer shells if you want to colour co-ordinate it with your machines and it is universal so it sits perfectly on either a PC, Flatscreen or Laptop as some cams are only PC or laptop specific. ...the earlier versions of the Logitech webcam range - at that time called the quick cam express. This was USB based and offered pretty good performance - but the highest quality setting was 320x240 and this was a bit grainy.
I decided it was time for a bit of an upgrade and so out of habit, the first place I looked was the logitech range...
The messenger is a very impressive unit for it's price - around £30 [a certain online bookstore's electronics ... ...video clips using SpotLife™ and Logitech still offer their free software updates so you can ensure your camera is running on the latest programs.
As far as system requirements go, you must have Win98 or higher and a processor greater than 500Mhz is advised. 64Mb Ram and 200Mb hard disk is also requested on the pack, but obviously you can customise the installation to take up much less than this.
Overall, a very good camera for this price range ...

PICTURE QUALITY.
Is average to poor.likes to have a lot of light when the light level gets low the picture can get grainy. When running this camera over the past couple of years it has locked up when using yahoo messenger (often) though it hasnt done it whilst using MSN, so it could be the way the yahoo messenger works.
When focusing you have to do it incrementally as the ... ...enough just turn the ring at the front of the lens.
CONTROL PANEL.
is very good has a lot of adjustments and has a user interface that allows novices to send emails with a picture or video.Or if you want / need to adjust the image for sharpness ,ratio, brightness ,red ,green and blue levels etc its all there. ...of use it typical of logitech (i only just reviewed my new logitech speakers which arrived 20 mins ago!) and the software it comes with is simple and very effective. When i say simple to use, i mean very simple, so simple in fact that if you can buy one off the internet, you easily have the skills to set it up! All you do it put the disk in, click setup, it installs drivers, you plug the camera in, set up the focus and microphone levels then restart ... ...with is extremely simple, just run the program and you get all kinds of options like record a video, take a picture (using the button on the program or the handy 'quick capture' button positioned on top of the unit) and even start a messenger program direct from the webcam software!
Overall this camera is very simple to use and excellent value for money, i would definately recommend it if you don't use a webcam enough to warrant spending £30+ on ...

I purchased this camera about a week ago and have so far been very impressed. Bear in mind I paid about £17.00 for this item which is pretty reasonable considering this camera also has a stills facility and the ability to record video. Its easy to use and easy to install, just follow the instructions on the CD and it pretty much walks you through this installation.
Having a teenage daughter inspired me to buy this (well pressured me actually) and ... ...the WWW with teenage girls involved. I also wanted it to communicate with my Aunt in the States and so far its been brilliant.
If you are going to use this camera with MSN messenger then be sure to go through the options settings and make sure that your camera is the default setting for Audio as my settings were defaulted to my sound card. Advantages: Very cheap and very easy to install. Disadvantages: Takes time to get a constant good quality picture.
If you cannot afford the best cam out there then this will certanly suit your instant messaging needs. I picked one up a while ago and I found it well worth the money.
Now. I have to say its the easiest thing to install. I use windows XP and the moment i plugged it in my USB slot it was detected and installed automatically in a matter of seconds. No need for the installation cd which i found to be very useful. (and yes its stable).
The picture ... ...fluctuate. In natural light (not direct sunlight as it can damage the camera) the picture quality is extremely good and clear. But in artificial light the quality can seem a little... well... lets just say it performs better in natural light but it still does the job.
I have only used the microphone on it once and I was not too impressed at all. I recommend a seperate microphone.
However taking pictures is pretty simple. Load up the camera in windows ...
