I settled for the Logitech Quickcam Express for the sum of £34.00 (well I needed it urgently to talk to someone dear to me, and where else on a wet Sunday afternoon could I get one) the reason behind buying this one was that it was compatible with Windows 2000 which I believe to be the nearest relation to XP.
Installation was a breeze. The installation CD flew through the procedure and only gave me one bad moment when up came a pop up window ... ...version of Windows, but I let it load and to my delight it worked. The picture quality to my mind was excellent a 100% improvement over the previous model. I did at this stage look at Ciao to see how it was rated and it has poor reviews, which surprise me, as it is simple to use, and gives a good clear crisp picture. The Logitech Quickcam was extremely easy to install. All I did was put the CD in and followed th on-screen instructions. The software includes:

At around £20, The Logitech Quickcam Express is one of the cheapest webcams on the market , and in this case you truly get what you pay for. Image quality and lighting levels are very poor and the camera is big (for a webcam), bulky and difficult to arrange properly on its stand. My girlfriend bought this camera to use with her laptop, but the quality was so bad that she soon got a Creative one instead.
Technology:
The main feature of the camera ... ...quality than this. There are plenty of alternatives on the market, and I personally recommend Creative Webcams. I would be wary of any other Logitech webcams due to the false claims on the box of this one - make absolutely sure you know what you are buying.

Logitech Quickcam Express is like a mini digital video camera. Quickcam Express can bought starting from £10 at www.novatech.co.uk up to around £30 from www.dell.co.uk. I bought mine on promotion 2 webcams for £30. Or on Ebay starting at 99p to about £10. Just shop around to find the ... ...a pale blue. There's the Logitech logo on the top of the webcam and also has a blue button. This button is for taking quick and easy pictures or to start recording with the webcam. The webcam is 4cm x 3cm x 4cm and weighs about 200 grams. The digital capture speed is 30 frames per second so the motion on the webcam is quite fluid and doesn't stick too much unless you're running a lot of programs on your PC. I got my Logitech Quickcam Express a few months ago and it has been a useful little device - sure it is limited in it's capabilities but it only cost 25 pounds!!
I have no real need for webcam but I thought it might be fun to hook one up. The device cost me about 30 pounds to begin with but then I got a manufacturers rebate that brought the price down to well below any competition.
Plugging it in couldn't have been simpler - the USB interface is ... ...down was corrupt - bu Logitech quickly fixed it and an new download was available.
Other reviewers have commented on picture quality and sure sometimes it can look pretty gruesome - I've found that by carefully arranging the lighting sources around my desk I can improve the quality to an acceptable level. This webcam is excellent value, costing around £30. For your money you get the camer and some software for it.
The camera has quite a long lead on it, and a USB connection to connect it to your computer. It was easy to install. Just plug it in, and install the software. No hassle at all. I would say that is is the easiest piece of hardware that I have bought to install (with the exception of things like keyboard and mouse that just plug in!)
The ... ...and video, create picture or video e-mails, make a web albumn and make a live webcam.
Pictures and Video:
When you select to create a picture or video, you get a window with a live preview of the camera. You then click the button to either take a picture or record video. I have just bought a Logitech quick cam express, and i must say for under £40 was a very good buy, nicely packaged, neat installation USB to boot!!, the software you get is basic but intuative to use, you dont really need a manual to find out how to do things, netmeeting comes supplied and worked a treat on my machine, although the video recording doesnt come off, but ill get that sorted soon. updates of the software are regular and easy to perform. ... ...of its manufacturers web site, logitech have one of the more easy to understand sites around and for a newbie this is a must. if anybody asked me 'ive got £50 to spend on a webcam, what do i get' i would say the quickcam express. express your up and running in 10 minutes. good little camera. ...

...me wondering how many shares Logitech have in BT. The Customer Service was atrocious, left listening to a tune normally found on free cd's, I waited almost 20 mins for an answer. I then received a customer assistance officer, who thought that I should try re-installing the cam again. After explaing that I had done this more times than I cared to remember, she bluntly directed me to my PC Help Line, as their software "has nothing wrong with it"!

I enquired if Logitech knew this was a problem, to which I was told that it would've been strange if they didn't.
This left me wondering two things, 1) If Logitech knew of this problem, why where their Advisors not privvy to this information on their Customer Support Line and 2) Do Logitech hold back the information, in order for you to call their helpline, at the high rates, in order to subsidise the low cost of the Cam?

I was given the logitech Webcam for my birthday last year, I was thilled to recieve it and started using it asap. I loaded it on to the computer which took very little time so I could start taking pictures and making video's staright away. The package cost around £30 and for what you get that is a very good price for what you get. With the logitech Webcam you can do different things under each heading:
Create Pictures and Video's

... ...picture with a click of a button, it is very easy to do. You can also record video's with a click of a butto, it is not at all confusing or complicated. By the side it lets you view you pictures / video's.

This is also very easy to use, it is the same as the section above but it lets you send the picture / video as part of an email which is a great way to show other people your pictures / video's.

The Logitech webcam is a neat little camera which sits easily over the edge of your monitor. It sort of looks like an eye which is quite odd but the wire connecting it gives it away. You can do great things with this webcam. One good thing is that it's easy to install providing that the USB port it connects to in your system is actually turned on. It won't work otherwise. Once up and running you hve the capability o do a number of things using this ... ...able to play it back andwill actually be able to see the flower opening etc. This camera has great potential. These video-clips can then be compressed and sent to other people via email which is another useful addition to this software. Logitech webcam = Thumbs UUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!! ...

I have owned a couple of web cams in my day but this one is the best. I bought it a couple of months ago to talk with a friend online.
In the states it cost me $89.00 but had a $30.00 rebate so not a bad price after that.
It is easy to hook up. You simply plug it in and reboot your computer and let it detect it. They come with usb ports now which I assume most people have if you have a fairly new computer. I am running windows ME and it works great ... ...so you can talk at the same time and the sound is excellant. So is the quality of the picture. You just have to tweak the wheel a bit to get your focus right.
The software is simple to install and comes with netmeeting which is a nice program to use and also a greeting card program.
If you just bring up the cam program itself you can snap pictures of yourself to send to people by e-mail or you can print them out and snail mail them if you want. ...

My own experience with my Logitech Quickcam Express has not yet been an entirely happy one. I am getting on in years now (34) and on a daily basis, just like everyone else, I look in the mirror. I see a greying fellow with distinctive "features". My web cam however, shows a different person all together. It shows a person with skin like a pitted lemon, hues of bright orange (you know when you've been tangoed!) and a shiny balding head. Now, I have ... ...from a company such as Logitech and I know that you get what you pay for, but at £39.99 I would have expected to see a little more quality.
The design of the camera shell is excellent. A large round ball (about 2.5 - 3 inches in diameter) that resembles a human eye.... without the bloodshot effect! It has a wide base (almost tripod), which makes it sit very sturdily and comfortably on almost any surface. The cable supplied with the camera is 1.5 ...

I purchased this web cam some months ago. I rushed home, installed the software and I plugged it in and I was pretty impressed with what I seen.
The image was clear and it looked great until.....I moved! The cam was set at maximum resulution (640 x 480) and couldn't handle quick movements. I moved my arm and two years later it moved on screen (slight exageration but it was pretty slow!) At 320 x 240 res the cam offers "real time" movement but the ... ...res is 160 x 120 which displays a ridiculous small blocky image.
Before you judge this camera by the above comments, please take into consideration that this cam is very cheap! Expect to pay around £35.00 from a good computer dealer.
The camera is mounted on a small pyramid shaped stand and is easy to point in the desired direction. The weight of the thick cable sometimes causes the camera to move, which can be very annoying especially at times ...

The Logitech QuickCam Express is a nice looking webcam, with a neat little stand and very curvy lines. The camera and base are both whitey, so I don't reckon it would look that good with a black monitor. However, the base is around 9cms wide, and can't be put on top of a TFT moitor easily - at least not mine. If it has to be put on your desk, next to your monitor or whatever, then it doesn't really look up high enough, its really designed to look ... ...which blends in nicely but the lens is a bit like looking into a black hole. I don't know if that's the same for all webcams, but it freaks me out a bit if I look straight down it. I got mine for £19.99 from a retail shop, which isn't too bad, and was deffinately a lot cheaper than the others they were advertising on their website. So I reckon it ain't too bad. The picture quality is pretty good, a bit grainy, but what can you expect for 20 quid? ...

...software supplied was very good, Logitech have a good reputation so I thought everything would be okay.
Plugged it in, installed the software and in virtually installed itself. In this respect it is a very good camera. The picture quality however is far from good, the picture is very small and grainy. Photo capture is easy to do with their software but the quality is poor and therefore unsuitable for printing, or anything else.
