Advantages: wireless, accurate, comfortable, and durable Disadvantages: doesnt like super super fine work, gets tacky quite quickly
Balls are back! and there is far less hand gymnastics required with this excellent mouse without a tail! I bought this device about 3 months ago and will never look back! it has served me well and will continue to serve me well for the foreseeable future... when i first recieved this mouse, it was packaged well and came with a nice user friendly set up, drivers and sofware... it did take me a few hours to get used to not moving my hand all about ... ...as to why the cursor wasnt moving when i moved the mouse! but it didnt take long to get used to it at all, and is a lot easier to use than the standard arm flailing of a regular mouse! as you can see from the picture, the mouse wheel is manipulated by the thumb, which is a brilliant idea, and one of those things that should have been invented first! although it does lack left handed capabilities for obvious reasons, but its that easy to use that ...

Advantages: Comfortable, good-looking, east to setup, tidy, long-lasting Disadvantages: Accuracy not the best
...wanted for my birthday. "A Logitech Trackman Marble trackball", I replied.
6 years on I still have that Trackman. Sure, it looks a bit dated and the logo has rubbed off from all the hours at work using it but for its extremely advanced age it is still in perfect working order and if it wasn't for my need for gadgets I would still use it. So how does Logitech's new Trackman compare?
I purchased Logitech's Cordless Trackman Wheel (USB) for about ... ...mouse comes with the usual Logitech setup software which is comprehensive, allowing each button to be everything from a SHIFT key to allowing it to launch Explorer.
The mouse is basically self-cleaning as it has no rollers, instead using a light fired at the ball to judge movement, but if you do want to clean the inside you just poke a pen into the hole underneath and pop the ball out. A quick wipe around the cavity and the ball, and you're off ...

...then read on.
The Logitech trackman mouse is the greatest and easiest mouse you will ever use. Its main advantages are as follows
1st You don't need a flat surface- Have you ever stat at home on the computer and tried to use your standard mouse while sitting on the couch with the mouse pad on the arm rest or even your lap (who hasn't) not an easy task as most arm rests and your lap are curved and you really need a flat surface to use a standard ... ...that if you have a Logitech wireless mouse and also a Logitech wireless keyboard connected to a single computer your ok you wont get any signal interference BUT if your like me and have 2 computers both with a wireless Logitech keyboard and trackman mouse then you will get some signal interference depending on how close the sensors are. If they are in separate rooms you should be fine but in the same room 2 people trying to work will find that your ...

Advantages: Great design, good range Disadvantages: Not for left handers (although you can probably get a left handed versions)
Up until two weeks ago I had one of these, then it got eaten by the dog, maybe one of the downside of it NOT being on a lead (the trackball not the dog!).
The main thing that attracted me to it at first was the cordless part, with the computer being in the lounge and a dog running around there was always a major danger of the dog running between the armchair and the computer, and running into the lead (not good for any party involved really). Installation ... ...receiver into the mouse port, put the batteries into the trackball, and your off! The range is quite impressive too, if I’d have had a decent sized monitor I would have been able to operate the PC from the comfort of my sofa.
With the lack of a picture on Ciao I shall describe the layout of the Trackman:
Moving aside from the traditional trackball layout (ball in the middle and buttons either side), the Trackman looks more like mouse, it has the ...

Advantages: Cordless, shape, no rsi, Disadvantages: too big for little hands, short infra red range
...The fact it’s made by Logitech gave me bags of confidence. It looks really sturdy and I could imagine it would do you years and would quite happly handle being dropped.
I so wanted to love this and be in awe of it's superior to the mouse, to jump up with excitement how it fitted like a glove to my hand, meaning I could spend days at the pc with no more sore wrists R.S.I a thing of the past but sadly that's not my experience. I found it slightly ... ...to be completely comfortable and use it at the same time. I found precision graphic work easier with a non trackball mouse, and you can’t be that far from the receiver to start having problems, also sometimes not having a cord has a downside when your 4 yr wants to run off with the mouse. So not a happy ending for that mouse, but it has not put me off trackballs I really like the idea of them and if I can get one that fits my hand better I’ll maybe ...

Advantages: No wire, no problem of the colour fading to a creamy yellow that happens with white mice Disadvantages: Uncomfortable, Bad for games
...As with my previous logitech mouse you have the ability to change the motion settings of the mouse e.g. put acceleration on low, med, or high and change the speed at which the cursor moves in general. However, I noticed that with acceleration off, if you try and move the cursor quickly you'll get decelleration and the cursor will not move that far... this is very inconvinient if you want to play FPS games online. I also found that it was difficult ... ...e.g. when trying to close a solitaire window I ended up maximising it, a problem I raely faced with my last mouse. Because I require these functions, I have ended up plugging my old mouse back in and will most likely package this new one up and give it to someone for xmas. ...

Advantages: Uses less desk space, sensitive Disadvantages: Once used to, impossible to go back
I was given my cordless mouse for a birthday present. I work from home data inputting, and my work is mouse-hungry. The work is also desk hungry (involves broadsheet newspapers) and I was always getting tangled up in things.
I have quite broad hands, and this is a large, wonderfully ergonomic mouse. I use a small beanbag as a wrist rest, and find the mouse very comfortable for my stints of eight hours or more at my pc. The worst thing is trying ... ...off the mousemat, run out of space, press the wrong button, and overcompensate your movements. Not something to get used to if you have to change and rely on speed with a standard pattern mouse. Low battery warnings are given with plenty of warning, and the cable of the sensor is long enough to reach from the USB to the top of your desk or where ever you hide the small, tidy unit. A reset button sometimes needs to be used, especially if running early ...

Advantages: Ergonomic, control of pointer, battery life Disadvantages: Takes a week to get used to
This is probably my favorite purchase for my computer 'stuff' collection! I started using a cordED version of this thing 10 years ago or so at work, got one for myself, and after it died (was in use for 5 years, which is fair in my mind) I got the cordless version listed here. I love this thing, and here are some details on why:
Ergonomics - I think this thing is really good to reduce strain on your wrist, and after a week or two getting used to ... ...to move the trackball, it's so easy to work with.
Detail on screen - at least for me, it's really easy to get exactly what I want to click on, easier than with a mouse! I know one reviewer doesn't like this for gaming... I love it for gaming! I do 1st person shooters a lot (i.e. HalfLife, etc.) and it works like a dream.
Software - this thing works if you just plug it in on an XP machine (probably Vista, too) but the additional software makes it ...

...articles I decided upon the Logitech Cordless Trackman Wheel. I got it and started to use it - which took some getting used to. However, I have had it for some time now and feel that I am fairly proficient with it. It is fabulous not to have wires getting caught and being able to move the mouse devise easily!!
The trackball fits very your hand well and the rollerball is easy to navigate your mouse pointer. The Trackball uses optical sensors so that ...
