Excellent stylish and LOUD speakers

Advantages: Very loud, great styling, sound quality, wall mountable, good value.
Disadvantages: Stands not fully adjustable, headphone volume control independant of speakers, volume controls on speaker instead of remote, annoyed neighbours :)

...Creative and Labtec, but these Logitech X-230s stood out because they looked good in black with dual silver drivers and had a sub-woofer for bass. They also have FDD2 technology, which is better for smoother response and sound. They were £35, which was under my budget. Specification (from manufacturer): Satellites = 6w each Sub woofer = 20w Total power = 32w 2x 2" drivers 5.25" ported sub woofer When I received them, they felt reasonably solid ...
...smaller than I thought. Setting up took a few seconds. Plug the satellites into the computer/MP3 player or whatever source you want, plug the speakers into the sub (single connection), and plug the sub into the wall. Simple, no need to look at instructions. I loaded up my laptop and put on some heavy metal music. I switched on the speakers, turned the sub upto full and slowly increased the volume (controller on right satellite). The first impressions ...

...time. I bought my Logitech X-230 speakers as a replacement for some Creative Soundworks speakers. Those themselves weren't terrible but I wanted something black to match my computer monitor as well as adding a subwoofer. Many people may recommend a surround sound 5.1 speaker setup. I say that decision comes down to how you intend to use the speakers. If you use your computer as your main games and movie entertainment machine, I suggest you consider ...
...2.1 speaker setup like these Logitech speakers. Just a quick note when it comes to 5.1 and 2.1; the big number represents the number of smaller satellite speakers you'll place around yourself and the 1 represents the subwoofer speaker which sits on the ground and makes the low rumbling noises. --Set Up-- Once you bring these speakers home, you'll want to set them up and get listening. It is suggested that you place the large subwoofer speaker ...

Highly Impressive 2.1 Soundsystem

Advantages: Superb sound, excellent build quality, appealing design, easy to set-up
Disadvantages: Bass adjustment may be out-of-reach for some

...of an improvement, but this Logitech system is far from that. For a start, all you need to do is unpack the box, put the two speakers on your desk or wherever you want, and the subwoofer on the floor (technically it can go anywhere, but on the floor produces the best output). Then just connect the speakers to the headphone socket on your computer, plug in the mains and you're ready to go - it's as simple as can be. And for such a simple upgrade, ...
...speakers produce crisp, clear sound right up to very high volumes (and they can go pretty loud!). The subwoofer also produces a lovely, balanced bass, although the bass setting doesn't need to be very high at all for the best sound. Slightly annoyingly, for some, is the fact that the bass knob is on the back of the subwoofer. However, this doesn't affect me as I have the subwoofer right at my feet. The price is also brilliant: you should be paying ...

So good I bought two sets!

Advantages: Great sound quality, simple setup, not too expensive.
Disadvantages: Slightly short satellite cables.

These speakers impressed me so much I bought two sets! Originally I bought a set of these as the new monitor on my PC didn't have any speakers, and my old crusty speakers really weren't up to much. I didn't have the space or budget to get a large 5.1 surround set, so I plumped for this rather nice set of 2.1 active speakers. The problem was, I liked the sound out of my PC so much, and my TV was rattling loads when the volume got too high, so I put ...
...the sound. I liked the result so much I decided to leave them on my TV and buy another set for the computer. The speakers themselves aren't perhaps the most stylish, but what they lack in design, they make up for in sound quality. The satellites have two 2 inch (5cm) drivers which provide excellent mid to high range sound. The response is quite flat here so most sounds are faithfully reproduced. The sub for such a small unit is well designed and ...

Now honestly, who needs surround on a pc?

Advantages: Good sound, low price, good bass (not the fish)
Disadvantages: Neighbours live too close

I just got these off Amazon and they arrived today, so I've spent a good few hours testing them out with a diverse range of music from the depths of heavy metal, through the near psychotic speeds of drum and bass, to chilled out classical stuff. What can I say?! £30 well spent here! ***WHAT YOU GET*** When you receive your box, which measures something like 15 inches by 10 inch square you might expect the speakers inside to be fairly large. On ...
...inside is occupied by what appears to be a modest subwoofer. A separate box that is about 4 inches deep houses the two satellite speakers. The speakers are well presented in a semi-matte black finish, and unlike the speakers you traditionally receive when you buy a PC from Curry's (no offence, honest), the speakers seem very well made - in fact, I'm resting my legs on the sub as I type, and I'm not exactly small and lightweight. They haven't creaked ...

Logitech X-230 2:1 Speaker System.

Advantages: Compact, deep loud sub, styling of satellites, competitive pricing.
Disadvantages: Much more powerful systems available.

These speakers were purchased from Argos for £40 to use on my laptop. However I've since learnt I could have bought them for half this amount. The integrated laptop speakers were just to frustratingly quiet to listen to music. The subwoofer provides high quality bass and even when the volume is maxed the quality stays high. A lot of more expensive and powerful systems are not this crisp. For a small room they are ideal. You should only get bigger ...
...downstairs I can hear the bass rumbling away even on half volume. The styling of the satellites is good, and the size of the subwoofer is acceptable if you are short on space. The quality is just brilliant though and crisp just as stated, if quality is bad it is your computer or power supply, not these. The headphone style connector makes connection to mp3 players and some televisions possible too. A two-way adapter for the signal source was included ...

Great affordable sound system for PC

Advantages: Looks good, Sounds good, wall-mountable, headphone socket, volume and bass dials.
Disadvantages: Bass dial not easy to reach.

...'tinny' sound systems. Fortunately the logitech speakers lived up to the hype and gave the full, involving sound that I wanted. As the picture shows, it is a 2.1 system consisting of 2 satellite speakers (6 watts each) and a subwoofer (20 watts). The total power of the system is 32 watts, which is more than adequate if you're looking to vibrate the walls of your house. On the right satellite speaker is a power button (which in my opinion is far more ...
...the way down to turn off speakers), a volume dial, and a headphone socket. On the back of the Subwoofer is a bass level dial so you can turn it down if too much bass is distorting the sound...or the neighbours are complaining. The other notable feature is the fact the base unit of the speakers can swivel and turn into wall mountable plates if you wanted to screw them into position on your wall. The system incorporates logitech's FDD2" (frequency ...

X-230 Speakers "The Best Bang for your Buck"

Advantages: Great sound, inexpensive, aesthetically pleasing, good bass
Disadvantages: bass adjustment could be out of reach depending on setup

The Logitech X-230 2.1 Speaker System is perfect for anyone who wants great sound but doesn't want to pay $200 to get it. That simple reason is why I ended up buying these speakers and let me tell you that I have yet to be disappointed. The sound is clear, loud, and fills the room using Logitech's patented FDD technology. The sound is great, I haven't had any problems with sound cutting out, bad bass or anything. I bought these at a great price around ...

Quick review of Logitech X 230

If you're an audiophile then avoid these like the plague. The sound mix is all wrong and no matter what you do with the EQ in iTunes for instance you will never get the right sound. Also the Sub needs to be turned to it's lowest setting as it is swampingly bass heavy which does not help either. Great pricing, but poor quality. To say I am disappointed is an understatement as I have heard lots of good things about Logitech. It only gets two stars for the high volume level and sturdy build quality. ...

Brilliant set of speakers considering the price

Advantages: Solid design, great sound quality for the price, lots of bass!
Disadvantages: Bass may feel overwhelming to some, netting on satellites are flimsy

I decided to buy these speakers because my old ones were extremly old and my games and music needed a good boost. I didnt want to spend too much on a set of 2.1 speakers and these seemed to fit the bill perfectly. First impressions Once i had opened the box i was pleasantly surprised to see the sleek black speakers felt very solid (apart from the 'netting' that covers them. The subwoofer felt solid and had a sturdy feel to it. When i first plugged ...
...was the incredible bass the subwoofer produced and this was with bass setting on the back of the subwoofer turned all the way down! This may put some people off, but i think it is just right. The 2 satellite speakers give off a good range of sounds, when i was playing some games there were some sounds that i never heard before and made the gaming experience as a whole alot more immersive. The sounds are crisp and the bass is belivered perfectly. ...

Incredible quality at a low price!

Advantages: Crystal clear sound, light-weight set, individual bass volume, virtually universal input
Disadvantages: Bass can sometimes be too loud, cables can become untidy

...at an incredibly affordable price! Logitech have a good reputation for their products, and this is no exception; the sound is crystal clear, it can be plugged into any headphone jack, and the bass speaker, though maybe a little too loud, enhances the "home cinema" experience. I use these speakers on my laptop, and even though the screen is not especially large, the sound coming from the speakers gives the effect of a theatrical presentation, you ...
...feast for your ears, and listening to music? Well, if you get that perfect EQ, this is quite possibly the most impressive speaker set ever concieved at this price. I would also reccomend purchasing a software package to enhance EQ options, it dramatically improves the quality of the sound even further! I would gladly recommend this product to anyone, it truly is the crux of low price speakers, an essential purchase! ...

Great sound and looks

Advantages: Good value upgrade
Disadvantages: None at the price

...best reviews were for the Logitech X-230, which I managed to get at £30.98 at PC World using the Collect at Store process (see separate review). Getting them home, I was pleased to see that the box was well packed and there were very clear instructions - only 1 page. Everything was pre-wired which not only makes it very easy to install, but also prevents you being tempted to install improved cables etc (I'm a bit prone to that!) The only disadvantage ...

The wooden subwoofer is very solid with a very substantial grille protecting the speaker cone from stray boots if it is under the desk. Once the PC was booted up, the system started without problems and I played a familiar CD as a test. First impressions were good, with excellent bass delivery which rounded out the sound ...

Logitech X230

Advantages: Nice sound, clear like crystal
Disadvantages: noise : 96db, bass is sometime too much

Well, in my opinion, I think this is a very nice product and worth for its value of money. This is a very powerful speaker with 20 Watts Subwoofer. Its diameter is 5.25" giving very deep bass. Howver, it must go with a good sound card as the sub is likely to give too much bass, even bass volume is minimized and it could annoy you sometimes. Although the speaker is not so heavy : upto 7 kg, the subwoofer is quite large and not so nice to place it ...
...with Frequency Directed Dual Driver (FDD2). FDD2™ technology seperates sound into 2 different levels : nomal and high, therefor sound is clear, uniform sound field without the "hot spots" and inconsistency of other dual-driver satellites. High frequency sound is like crystal especially when you listen to the melody of flute. However, the cable is a bit short : 1.5 m so there's no point of having them wall-mountable, and Signal-To-Noise Ratio is ...

logitech X230 speaker system review

Advantages: good quality music, subwoofer, can be hooked up to almost anything
Disadvantages: none for a speaker really

Since I bought this speaker system i have doubled my time listening to music purely because of the excellent quality sound that bursts out of this system. The speaker volume can reach a massive amplitude and is still clear at maximum volume. The subwoofer has its own bass volume at the back which you can crank up to feel the whole house vibrate. This system can be connected to any device which has a headphone jack (a hole wear you put standard headphones) ...
...and some phones can play media through these speakers. You have to connect a plug to the mains since its a high quality speaker system and there is a cable which connects the speakers to the subwoofer. There is no installation required, just plug it in and its ready. The design is great, very unique and suits any sort of surrounding. Only comes in black The main speaker volume, off/on button and headphone jack can be found on one of the speakers. ...
