Advantages: Low price, Great build quality, Sound quality, Looks stylish Disadvantages: Not many controls, Rear speakers not loud enough, No digital-In audio
I'm reviewing the Logitech X-530 speaker set, which is a 5.1 Surround Sound speaker set for your computer. The X-530 consists of a set of five small speakers, known as 'satellites', and subwoofer, which is the larger unit that produces the bass. This is where the term '5.1 Surround' comes from. The "5" represents the satellites and the ".1" represents the subwoofer. I've had the speakers for a month now and I think they're great.
Home theatre, or ... ...Oh, and it has the Logitech badge on the foot, not like the other four satellites where they are at the top. The five satellites are black with the black see-through mesh covering two cones on each. Cheap plastic is nowhere to be seen with these speakers. These speakers are high quality! The plastic looks and feels very durable and dropping one of the speakers did no harm at all.
Excluding the centre speaker, the others are wall mountable. Simply ...

Advantages: 140watt maximum output, good sound quality, can be wall mounted, rather cheap Disadvantages: not wireless so the wires could get in the way, no remote control.
I bought these Logitech P.C theatre speakers a couple of months ago for my University room. You might think that is over the top but I totally love my music and couldn't help it.
I bought the speakers from P.C world for only £36.00. How did I get them that cheap? Well I reserved the speakers online for £39.99 then I went into store with my 10% off voucher and got them for £36.00. This was a total bargain as they are being sold for £74.99 in currys ... ...output of the speakers is 70watt but the maximum output is 140watt.
---They can be bought from many electrical shops but I recommend that you check amazon and PC World Online before purchasing anywhere else.

Advantages: Price/quality, look Disadvantages: sensitive to interference
...brand. Not necessarily when considering
Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers. First some esential tech data:
Total pow RMS : 70 Watts
Total peak pow: 140 watts
Cable lenght:
center:160cm
front: 140cm/180cm
rear: 450cm
Installation is as simple as possible and described weel in manual.
Very attractive design gives it professional look. Whole set is assembled with high quality components both inside and outside. Unfortunately there are too many cables ... ...are quite thick and strong. Center, front, and subwoofer speakers cables are quite short; even for desktop use lenght is nearly enough and I don't find my desk a big one. Satellites
Satellites have rotated stands and can be mounted on the wall. I can trully say this is very solid construction.
I had a pleasure of accidently dropping one satellite on the floor a few times and it still works fine.
Relatively tall sattelites and small stands forced ...

Advantages: Cheap and brilliant sound quality Disadvantages: Cables far too short, trouble with rear speakers
Logitech speakers, 5.1 surround. The name tells it all. They are the cream of speakers. Never experienced surround sound? Should be shot (Bit drastic actually).
Never fear, Logitech to the rescue with this relatively cheap 5.1 system. Not the best on the market arguably, but it still serves its purpose. Coupled with a high quality sound card, you'll not know the difference.
Priced at £30-50 these are at the bottom end of surround sound prices. ... ...doesn't want to burst the bank on a sound system.
Wall mountable the system is perfect for a small bedroom, the speakers are nicely sized so they don't take up oceans of room. The sub woofer again is a nice size. Made of sturdy material and would probably withstand the occasional knock and fall you expect of it.
All round these speakers are generally good. Not brilliant but for a price as low as that, you can't complain.
So... On to the bad points:

Advantages: Great sound, easy to assemble Disadvantages: Need to pay extra for external sound card (if you don't have 5.1 built in)
I bought this surround sound system from amazon.co.uk for £39.99. The X350 set includes 4 'satellite' speakers (each 7.4 Watts), a centre channel speaker (15.5 Watts) and the subwoofer (25 Watts) - these amount to a 70 watts RMS, with a maximum output power of 140 Watts. Being at University, I was watching films and playing music through my laptop, but needed something better than the weak laptop speakers. This was a great choice at a price that ... ...cost. The subwoofer is powerful and compact, and the rear right and left speakers are a good length for a smallish room. The volume control and on/off switch are located on the right hand speaker, which connects invidually to the subwoofer and sound card. The speakers themselves have robust stands, which allow them to either stand on a desk or can be rotated to allow them to be hung on the wall. Fittings are included in the box to allow you to do ...

Advantages: Sound is OK, looks good, not too high price. Disadvantages: bad design, Volume and power controls on FR speaker, cord too short.
The speakers have an OK sound but nothing spectacular. The main problem I had was the bad design. The way it is set up, the volume and power controls are in the front right speaker, not a dongle which sits on the desk. The master speaker only has a 6 foot cord so the Front Right speaker has to be mounted within 6 feet of the sub-woofer, which it plugs into. And the sub-woofer has a pretty short cord to the PC as well so you really have to play with ... ...right for someone sitting at the desk. Oh yes, Did I mention that the cord for the Front Right wasn't a standard cord? It's proprietary, and you can't get an extension unless you are good with electronics and want to make your own. Also, all of the other speakers plug into the subwoofer, and they really need much longer cords. So its an OK speaker set as long as you don't mind being within 5 to 6 feet of the front right speaker and not the center... ...

Advantages: Big bass, excellent sound quality, compatible with PS2, Xbox etc Disadvantages: cables too short, only plays as 2.1 if you want mp3 compatibility
I brought the Logitech X-530 speakers 7 months ago and do not regret it. They look nice, they look a lot more than £40 and come to think of it, they sound more than £40 pounds as well. When I was deciding whether to get these I thought they didn't look that powerful, but I was 100% wrong I lifted the subwoofer out of the box and it looked a lot more powerful than it does in the pictures (heavy too). I set them up, booted up the pc then I put a film ... ...great. The helicopters flying by with that boomy base vibrating things in your room, bullets being fired, I couldn't believe they were only £40 pounds. Then I tried Soldier of Fortune 2 in surround sound, it's so much easier then playing it in 2.1 you can hear people behind you shooting at you, you can then turn around and shoot them with you shotgun and boom that terrific base has kicked in again. Then I tried mp3. They're just as good as films ...

Advantages: very good budget system Disadvantages: no digital input
I currently have a Z5500 on my pc, while I have a X-530 on my TV set.
Immediate concerns: no digital input; MUST have a 5.1 audio source for all speakers to play.
Most DVD players have 5.1 audio output, but they are RCA connectors, and this system has 3 3.5mm headphone jacks for inputs - translation: RadioShack is waiting for you to come and get the RCA/3.5mm headphone adapter, which I was not able to find.
Oh, one thing no one has mentioned thus ... ...signal from a primitive cable box, your rear speakers would get no signal and would therefore be useless - this system MUST have a 5.1 channel input for all speakers to play.
So, having made my own connector adapters (without modifying the original connectors) I have this speaker set connected to my DVD player in the living room.
The satellite speakers are small enough to not be noticed at first glance (according to your internal decorating skills) ...

Advantages: Good quality sound Disadvantages: Lots of wires for this one
...can be bought of the Logitech website).
The controls on the speakers are also easy to use there are three main buttons, switches one is volume, one is bass level and the other is the on and off button. The volume and on and off is located on the right front speaker and the bass level is located on the sub woofer. There is also a headphone socket located on the right front speaker.
The final thing I am going to say about these speakers is the ease ... ...sort the cables out and position everything once all that was done the set up was easy all it was is to put in a few coloured wires in to the coloured holes and then plug it in simple.
Below are the stats for the speakers:
Total RMS power: 70 watts RMS Satellites: 45 watts RMS (2 x 7.4 watts front, 15.5 watts centre, 2 x 7.4 watts rear) Subwoofer: 25 watts RMS Total peak power: 140 watts Frequency response: 40Hz - 20kHz Drivers: Satellites: (2) ...

Had these speakers for around 6 months now, not one problem, the sound quality and volume is absolutely amazing!!
Never taught so much sound could come out such little speakers, and ever better, with amazing quality!!!
The only downside to the speakers is the material used to cover the actual speaker, very stilish but if they are dropped or anything is grazed along the side, the cloth like material is easily ripped. But after all, i dont think ...

Advantages: Amazing sound for a good price and easy set up Disadvantages: Minor difficulties in configuration
I bought these speakers to be used with my new computer a few months back now and have not ever had second thought. I use them mainly to play music but also heavy duties such as computer gaming. They were easy to set up with more that adequate instruction. It took me a while to configure them to work with the computer, however I feel this was more to do with my incompetency than anything else. When I did get them working I was truly amazed by the ...

Advantages: 5.1 surround, stylish package Disadvantages: none at this price
Setup:
I had the chance to listen to this package using a soundblaster 5.1 24bit card. Setup was straight forward exept for the two rear cables that were way to short (I had a large room). Quick stop at the local hi-fi shop got me 2 extensions needed and off we go.
Sound:
Sound was anyting but punchy and dynamic but thats pretty much the norm for speakers at this price and range. I was however suprised that there were no scratchy bright trebles ... ...sensitive to placement. In fact most of my collection were quite enjoyable to listen. In 2.1 stereo I felt the need for more volume but 5.1 stereo filled the room nicely.

Quick review of Logitech X-530
These are great budget speakers, however the subwoofer's bare minimum volume is so high it annoys the neighbours.
The rear speakers are very quiet unless you swap the two audio output connectors which when sound testing, leaves you with zig-zagging effects.
Its also a shame the headphones outlet never worked on it. ...

Advantages: Cool modern looks and fantastic sound Disadvantages: Cables are too short for setting up as a 5.1 system
Although the cool shiney black iPod syle satellites send fantastic sound, the 5.1 experience cannot be given. You may ask WHY?
it is because theres not enough cable aren't you supposed to have one speaker in each corner of the room the the centre and the Sub-woofer by the monitor however the cables are that short i had to have all of the speakers on my desk, so i could have saved a couple of quid and bought the 2.1 system that in this case would ...
