Advantages Advantages Great interesting and honest account of Alan's life so far

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Ended too soon

Alan Carr is not someone who I was very familiar with until recently. He came to my attention when I watch by chance his Celebrity Ding Dong show. I can honestly say that I don't think I had laughed so much at a single show in a very long time. After I told my hubby about him he though he would treat me to his new book when he spotted it in the shops. The book is a hard back edition white has a picture of Alan smiling and a white back ground. The dust cover of the book has a picture of a small body of a weight lifting man and lots of funny things behind it. The face of Alan which we see is ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me

It's been a relatively short space of time since Alan Carr first became prominent on our TV screens on Channel 4's The Friday Night Project, which he first hosted on the 6th January 2006 with co host Justin Lee Collins. The series itself had enjoyed an eight week run the previous year hosted by Jimmy Carr (no relation to Alan just a spooky coincidence) but for the second series Channel 4 wanted new presenters and amongst those chosen was Alan Carr. I suppose if you was Alan Carr then at this point you could quite smugly say "and the rest is history..." "Look Who it is!" published at the latter ... more

Advantages Advantages Great front cover, hysterically funny

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some parts seemed a little too rushed

''Alan is the spiritual son of Frankie Howerd''. (Quote from City Life) I think that says it all…. With big thanks to my boyfriends sister I am now the very proud owner of Alan Carr's 'Look who it is' book. It is immediately going to be added to my vast collection of autobiographies and I shall make certain that it gets the hot spot where the morning sun can warm its fringe, it deserves a shrine! I am not exaggerating when I say it is the most hysterically funny autobiography I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Initially I thought Peter Kay's was amusing but this beats it by a mile. The ... more

Look Who It Is Alan Carr The Blurb (Wriiten By the author) From the grimness of doing data entry for Mr Dog to the dizzy heights of The Friday Night Project and performing for Her Majesty on The Royal Variety Performance. My Life's been a log flume - up and down with a couple of damp patches in the middle. Take my hand I want to lead you through my life. within these pages you will come face to face with my parents, my dog Minstral, my friends and a whole load of waifs and strays that have helped to make my journey that little bit more memorable. So I was browsing the books in my local charity shop recently and I spotted the hardback version of 'Look Who it Is' by Alan Carr and as it had a bargain price of just 25p I decided to snap it up (gave them 50p and will be taking the book back this week now I've finished it). This book has a very appealing cover to it that's quite comical and shows Alan Carr in a seaside style cut out where you can just put your face in to the hole and sure enough, if you remove the cover from the front of the book you will see an ordinary picture of Alan Carr underneath which just goes to show the kind of ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as funny as I thought it would be

Alan Carr has been one of my favourite comedians, and presenters since seeing him on The Friday Night Project. I'm a fan of innuendos and his camp humour so when I saw he had an autobiography out I rushed out to the library so I could read it. It starts off by explaining his life now in the public eye - it tells me what I already know about The Friday Night Project and his partnership with Justin Lee Collins. After this small chapter it delves straight into his life from when he was a baby The first few chapters Alan talks us through his childhood, being born in Weymouth and moving all over ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Abrupt end!

This review is for the hardback version of 'Look Who It Is! My Story:' by Alan Carr Alan Carr has long been on my radar as a great comic presenter and comedian. As one half of the presenting dynamo for 'The Friday/Sunday Night Project', Alan has long been using making me laugh with camp humour, innuendo and cutting sarcasm. With expectations high I delved into his autobiography…. His TV persona always seems deeply rooted in reality despite his fame and this comes across straight away when we are told how he can't quite believe what his life is like at the moment now he's in the public eye ... more

'Look who it is ' is the autobiography of one of Britains best loved modern comedy heroes, Mr Alan Carr. Best known for his partnership with Justin lee Collins on the Friday and Sunday night project. Which was a popular comedy entertainement programme which invited special celebrity guests to host the show with them. Following on from this show which thrust Alan into the spotlight he has become one of the most recognised faces on British television. I mean how could you not recognise a face like his!! Alan Carr is very camp as Christmas in his whole persona. I personally find this adds to his ... more

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ABOUT ALAN: Alan Carr is a comedian who grew up in Northampton, he is openly gay and is very very camp which most people tend to like about him. He has a tv show on channel 4 called "chatty man" which he brings on celebs to talk about their upcoming stuff and dig out the dirt into their person lives. He first had a TV show with Justin Lee Collins called "The Friday Night Project" which then became "The Sunday Night Project" which was a game and chat show. He struggled as a teenager with being gay but is now a very well respected celebrity for his comedy. He has a comedy DVD ... more

Advantages Advantages Exactly what you'd expect from this comedien

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wanted to hear more about Friday Night Project...but I'm sure that'll be in the sequel!

Alan Carr is certainly one of those celebrities that you really do either love or hate. With such a strong sense of 'campness' and individuality, he either makes people cringe and turn the channel or roll off their chair laughing. Me, I am hooked. If Alan Carr is on the telly, I'm watching. His campness and ability to 'take the mick' out of himself is real, honest and, in my opinion, hysterical. In his autobiography, "Look Who It Is!", Carr catches the attention of his fans from the book cover. In memory of his childhood holidays at the beach, the comedian opts for a book sleeve that's ... more
