Affairs of automobile compartment Lotus in the beginning of 90th years when it was developed Elise, went completely not excellent. By then in Norfolk two models - by road of super penalties Lotus Esprit and appeared in 1989 Lotus Elan with four-cylinder turbo motor Isuzu, the first in a history...

“New Elise - Just Awesome”

It's a Lotus, looks amazing, is a true drivers car

They had to help Vauxhall build the bar of soap. N...

The new Elise took everyone by surprise when it came out, so soon after the VX220. As I first clambered into the drivers seat, there was nothing vastly different from the old Elise. However their was a weird sensation that this car had grown up. I have experienced the old Elise on the Silverstone...

Best drivers car on the road for under 30 grand

Real pain in the proverbial to get in and out of

The closest thing you'll get to a road legal go-cart! Lovely lovely lovely car, unfortunately it is absolutely impossible to get into if you'r over midget height! The point is this, the door sill is 20 cm off the ground, the roof is at 50cm....get the point, climbing into this car with the roof...

Handling

everything else (the unimportant stuff)

You can forgive the slightly overdone styling. You can forgive the fact that theres no radio. You can forgive the ludicrous hood. You can forgive the fact that you know it'll break down. You can forgive the fact that you probably won't walk out of a smash with an artic. Because the handling is so...

Priced well, great sports all-round.

Not really a 'super-car' and becoming quite common...

This car was released to critical acclaim some few years back, with the Lotus' chairman's niece, funnily enough named 'Elise', sitting in the car. Having driven one of these, I can honestly say I was impressed. The car is basic inside, no doubt, but this is a sports car! The floor is bare, you'll...

the best drivers car on the road

none, zilch, squat

I own a 2004 model year 111s. The interior is much improved over previous years with an easier hood that stows nicely in the boot and leather seats with lumbar support. Carpets and CD Radio are standard with the S model. However, you dont buy this car for comfort and luxury, even though they are...

Superlative driving pleasure and economical to run

High visibility

My pleasure in owning and driving this car continues. As they say in the papers, your heart does quicken whenever you get in the seat. It would not be everybody's idea of practicality, but I use it on a weekly basis. In terms of reliability there have been no problems, except when I left the...

Lotus have deffinetly got the knack off design good looking cars! The Lotus Elise fells like a GO-Kart when you drive it becausie of the suspension and the fact the it is much lower than your every day Ford. Is not a partiullary practical as a family car, hence its only 2 seats. But you will be gaurenteed to have much fun in this car. Every year Lotus are imrpoving the interior and looks. This model looks has the sport body, convertible. Downside it is a petrol, which will cost more at the pumps.

“The Elise- a driver's dream”

published 14/06/2000

Slick, cheap, great to drive

Impractical

Having recently been lucky enough to drive a Lotus Elise, I would like to stake its claim as the best car of any type on the market. It has so much going for it- the only disadvantage is that it's not very practical if you have a family! These Elise is genius in terms of design. Because it's...

Look sexy and great to drive

Very small for a big guy

The lotus elise, I absolutely love the look of the car, to me it is one the sexiest sportiest shapes on the road, plus its a bit of a bargain. With second hand elises coming down to around £15k for a 96P its a pretty good buy and you can be confident the residual values will be good. Now, I have...

“Best sports car by far”

published 28/07/2000

Nimble, quick, superb looks

Very impractical

Probably the best handling front wheel drive sports car, the Lotus Elise is not for those who like their creature comforts. No radio or carpet as standard, the interior is Spartan to say the least! But on a sunny day, take the roof down climb into it (difficult if your large!), start that engine...

everything other than the one disadvantage

sometimes a bit cramped inside

Well Lotus have done it again. When they released the Elan it was one of the smartest little cars ever made. This you thought would be their finest hour, but hence you are forced to take a monumental step back when you are first hit with the sight of the beautiful Elise. It is, in my humble...

“Lotus Elise”

published 16/08/2000

Handling, acceleration

Basic, noisy

The Elise is an awesome car... you only have to read the review of any car magazine, talk to anyone who knows about cars or review the awards which the car holds. Its driveability is rated as pretty much the best in the world. Acceleration is blistering and its looks are controversial but...
