"...Affairs of automobile compartment Lotus in the beginning of 90th years when it was developed Elise, went completely not excellent. By then in Norfolk two models - by road of super penalties Lotus Esprit and appeared in 1989 Lotus Elan with four-cylinder turbo motor Isuzu, the first in a history of the company 1 the automobile were issued. But Elan, despite of warm reception of press, "has not gone", and it have removed from manufacture. The ..." Read review

Over 6ft, roof on....forget it

AdvantagesBest drivers car on the road for under 30 grand

DisadvantagesReal pain in the proverbial to get in and out of

"The closest thing you'll get to a road legal go-cart! Lovely lovely lovely car, unfortunately it is absolutely impossible to get into if you'r over midget height! The point is this, the door sill is 20 cm off the ground, the roof is at 50cm....get the point, climbing into this car with the roof on you need to be like Bo and Luke Duke, this is a seriously small car. That being said! My colleague bought one of these at the weekend and we ..." Read review

New Elise - Just Awesome

AdvantagesIt's a Lotus, looks amazing, is a true drivers car

DisadvantagesThey had to help Vauxhall build the bar of soap. No creature comforts. Has Lotus really sorted out the reliability probs and build quality???

"...full potential. It seems that Lotus have taken a look at the Germans for build quality, it actually feels very well built! The switch gear, which is borrowed from GM again, feels good to touch, and the main buttons are neatly stacked up on the left side of the wheel. Lotus have extended the "pure driving experience" to include a stereo and some speakers, which is kind of comforting. The hood is easier to get on and off. Still a bit of a fiddle, but ..." Pocket Rocket!

AdvantagesPriced well, great sports all-round.

DisadvantagesNot really a 'super-car' and becoming quite commonplace.

"This car was released to critical acclaim some few years back, with the Lotus' chairman's niece, funnily enough named 'Elise', sitting in the car. Having driven one of these, I can honestly say I was impressed. The car is basic inside, no doubt, but this is a sports car! The floor is bare, you'll be sitting so low you'll think you're on the ground, but the drive is truly breathtaking. Whilst not what I'd call 'super-quick', that in itself depends ..." Read review

One year on, the pleasure continues

AdvantagesSuperlative driving pleasure and economical to run

DisadvantagesHigh visibility

"...lights on (Duooghh)at a Club Lotus track day of all places. It has been recalled twice for little bits of work, once for a heat shield, not that there were any problems with mine. My only irritation is that screws which hold the rear number plate lights, the petrol filler tube and windscreen wiper all rust if they get wet! So mine have all been replaced under warrenty. Also the throttle cable was getting a little sticky on occassion, so this work ..." Read review

teaches you to drive all over again

Advantagesthe best drivers car on the road

Disadvantagesnone, zilch, squat

"...You buy it for the lotus tweaked k series, variable valve timed 1.8 Rover engine which generates 160bhp. (This is about 210bhp per tonne by my reckoning.)This free revving throaty engine is married to a chassis and suspension created by the very best in the business. Half an hour getting used to the slightly notchy short shift gearbox and you will yearn for twisty roads and overtaking experiences. Driving becomes an end in itself not just a way ..." Read review

The Speed of Light (weight)

AdvantagesHandling

Disadvantageseverything else (the unimportant stuff)

"You can forgive the slightly overdone styling. You can forgive the fact that theres no radio. You can forgive the ludicrous hood. You can forgive the fact that you know it'll break down. You can forgive the fact that you probably won't walk out of a smash with an artic. Because the handling is so fantastic. You have, I promise, never felt anything like a corner in an elise. It turns so quickly, so sharply, with such... feedback from the wheel that ..." Read review

Quick review of Lotus Elise 111S

"Lotus have deffinetly got the knack off design good looking cars! The Lotus Elise fells like a GO-Kart when you drive it becausie of the suspension and the fact the it is much lower than your every day Ford. Is not a partiullary practical as a family car, hence its only 2 seats. But you will be gaurenteed to have much fun in this car. Every year Lotus are imrpoving the interior and looks. This model looks has the sport body, convertible. Downside it is a petrol, which will cost more at the pumps.

my legs are just too long

AdvantagesLook sexy and great to drive

DisadvantagesVery small for a big guy

"The lotus elise, I absolutely love the look of the car, to me it is one the sexiest sportiest shapes on the road, plus its a bit of a bargain. With second hand elises coming down to around £15k for a 96P its a pretty good buy and you can be confident the residual values will be good. Now, I have test driven the elise twice, the first time I took it out I had an awful test drive in the rush-hour through a built up area. Definitely not the best ..." Read review

The Elise- a driver's dream

AdvantagesSlick, cheap, great to drive

DisadvantagesImpractical

"...lucky enough to drive a Lotus Elise, I would like to stake its claim as the best car of any type on the market. It has so much going for it- the only disadvantage is that it's not very practical if you have a family! These Elise is genius in terms of design. Because it's stuck together with epoxy glue rather than weighty nuts and bolts, the chassis is very light. This means the Elise does not need power steering or ABS. Consequentially it is not too ..." Lotus Elise

AdvantagesHandling, acceleration

DisadvantagesBasic, noisy

"The Elise is an awesome car... you only have to read the review of any car magazine, talk to anyone who knows about cars or review the awards which the car holds. Its driveability is rated as pretty much the best in the world. Acceleration is blistering and its looks are controversial but stunning. Downside? Difficult to get in and out of (particularly with the hard top on) and can be a little noisy on long motorway type journeys. Not cheap ..." Read review

Lotus have done it again

Advantageseverything other than the one disadvantage

Disadvantagessometimes a bit cramped inside

"Well Lotus have done it again. When they released the Elan it was one of the smartest little cars ever made. This you thought would be their finest hour, but hence you are forced to take a monumental step back when you are first hit with the sight of the beautiful Elise. It is, in my humble opinion, the most attractive car on the road, with only one exception, the incredible Lamborghini Diablo. However considering the £180,000 price difference the Elise ..." Best sports car by far

AdvantagesNimble, quick, superb looks

DisadvantagesVery impractical

"...drive sports car, the Lotus Elise is not for those who like their creature comforts. No radio or carpet as standard, the interior is Spartan to say the least! But on a sunny day, take the roof down climb into it (difficult if your large!), start that engine and who cares about the interior. The naturally aspirated 1.8 litre K series Rover engine is mightily responsive, propelling you to 60 in 5.5 seconds and onto 100 in about 17, the steering delightfully ..." Read review

ONE OF THE BEST CARS I HAVE EVER SEEN

AdvantagesThe car is sporty and would attrack alot of beautiful women!

DisadvantagesIf this car had four seats it would be the best car ever!

"...they want they would say Lotus Elise! The speed and the small but large look off the car makes it feel a compatable car! The seats are the compatablest i have ever sat in they make you feel safe when you are goin down the road in this car cause you are so low in some seats it would make you feel as if u was going to fall out but, these seats change all of that the car has got quite alot of space for a small car The best sports car i think ever to ..."
