Advantages Advantages Very healthy, taste good, not too complicated

Disadvantages Disadvantages takes around an hour to prepare if you call that long..

After hearing all these familiar statistics on how more than half of the U.K population is going to be fat, some say by 2020 some say 2030, whichever year it is I am very concerned. I did have a look at all the things I ate. I do have to admit that, I don't eat healthy my self. I mostly have one proper meal a day and the rest is just junky foods all the way. However, amongst my meals there is one of my favourites which is rather healthy and delicious. And yes! It has to be tandoori potatoes and creamy mushroom soup. The mush room soup mainly acts as a sauce of course rather than using ketchup ... more

    Advantages Advantages Healty, easy, tasty

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None from me

My mom has always had high blood pressure since I can remember, her mom died of a stroke and her dad died of a heart attack (A sign there to look after your heart!). My moms been told (which I've been telling her for years) that she must lose weigh as now her cholesterol is very high and diabetes is a high risk. Now that the doctors has explained to her what could happen if she does book her act together, my mom has started eating healthy and cutting down on them horrid cigarettes. As one of the things I did at college was heath, fitness and nutrition now's a good time I really get to put it ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to cook, good for you.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages There's no sirloin!

George, my father-in-law, is a man of appetites y'know. In particular his appetites lead him to a diet high in red meats. He's not big on vegetarianism, "It's not natural! We're MEANT to be the top of a food chain. Haven't any of these people heard of Darwin?" is his frequent cry. George is also a man who loves to cook, and he's very good at it too. He's not that big on modern food fashions, especially all things processed and all things vegetarian, "Children should eat red meat. They NEED the iron!" is another of his favourite complaints. Well, I'm happily omnivorous myself, and I'll eat ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy, tasty low(ish) fat roast lamb. Yum

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fairly expensive. No roast potatoes.

When I first came to the UK, I didn't like lamb. See, it's not such a commonly eaten meat in the US, and (probably more relevantly), my father didn't like it, so we never had it when I was growing up - and I mean never. Upon emigrating to the UK, I discovered the Sunday Roast. The Sunday Roast was sometimes beef, sometimes pork, and sometimes lamb. At first, I'd only eat it if it was covered in an herby crust, and so its flavour was masked. As time went on, however, I learned to appreciate the stronger flavour of lamb, and now prefer it to the much blander beef roast. Of course, we all know ... more

Advantages Advantages Low fat, freezes well

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

When it's cold outside and you need warming up - nothing beats hot and spicy lentil soup. The real beauty of this though is it's "freezability" - make loads at once and freeze it in individual portions for a low fat lunch or post workout "pick-me-up" Serves 4 160 calories, less than 3 % saturated fat! Ingredients: 100g red lentils 1 onion 2 sticks of celery (optional) 2 carrots 1 small can of kidney beans (or any other type of bean) 2 tablespoons of tomato puree 1 pint of water 1heaped teaspoon Swiss Marigold bouillon powder (the reduced salt version is better) 4 cloves garlic (or less if ... more

Advantages Advantages Heaven for curry lovers who are watching their weight and fat intake.

Disadvantages Disadvantages None that I can think of unless you don't like curry.

Being on the heavy side I recently decided to join one of my local slimming classes and a Monday evening. When I joined, I was more than surprised to see what you could eat on this slimming plan, and to my utmost delight, the amount of food you could eat. I left my first class thinking to myself...'how can that eating plan be classified as slimming/dieting'. I actually had to force myself to eat more to lose weight. This was brill!! I didn't have any strict time that I could eat, any set amount of meals, any set amount of calories per day, and the best part...there was no weighing of my so ... more
