Advantages Advantages Real butter, real taste and texture

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too much fat is seriously bad for your health

Whilst making the sandwiches this morning, almost inevitably the butter ran out……..As I reached into the fridge for a new pack of Lurpak it set me thinking just how long this has been a staple in our household. I think we must have been introduced to Lurpak in the early 1970's and it has been a favourite ever since. In its 250g form (which weighs just over half a pound in old money) it comes in a distinctive silver foiled pack with an impressive crest , which for once is not the Royal Coat of Arms. In fact it's the Lurmark, a trade mark introduced in 1901 for certified and quality Danish ... more

Advantages Advantages Nothing like real butter, highest quality, availability

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fat content but that's with all butter

There is no substitute for real butter no matter what people tell you or what others claim. Everyone is aware that butter consists of a majority of fat and Lurpak is no different. Fat represents 82% of the total content in the unsalted type and 80% in the slightly salted type. The history of Lurpak stretches back to over 100 years when the company was first registered in 1888 in Denmark. This probably makes Lurpak the oldest producer of butter in the world. The company officially started operations in 1901 and back then the butter was exported in wooden barrels with the United Kingdom being ... more

Advantages Advantages good taste, many uses.

Disadvantages Disadvantages well, its all calories, isn't it?

The debates over butter have been raging for years - is it more or less healthy tan marg? There are countless pros and cons - it doesn't spread as well, it has more fat in it, but fewer chemical additions, and on it goes. Butter is made by a strange process called churning - shake milk about for long enough, and for reasons I do not begin to understand, it starts to solidify. Butter is rich, fatty, and in my opinion much improved by having a little salt in it. (I know salt is on the list of things evil and bad for you, but I happen to like it, and I find that without it I get very low blood ... more

Advantages Advantages Delicious Versatile Spreads Well Great in Baking

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A tad Pricy

Lurpak must be among the best known names in dairy products and their salted butter is just divine. It is distinguished by is natural, creamy, delicate taste and with a little salt, I reckon it is the greatest of all butter products. The product is churned out in Denmark-a country renowned for the quality of its dairy products-and the creamery uses the very finest creams, which again Denmark is justly renowned for. The Danish company actually produces five main butter products, viz, . Unsalted Butter . Flavoured Butter . Two Spreadable Butter's . Salted Butter-the subject of this opinion The ... more

Advantages Advantages Tastes great and goes fabulously with Malt Loaf

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not very healthy because it's very high fat content

Did you know that the highest sales of salted butter anywhere in the world is in the UK? No other country really likes salted butter, they prefer it's unsalted partner in crime. Personally, I prefer salted butter. I think it brings out the full flavour and makes for great toast! Butter production in the UK is actually a very small % of the total dairy industry. Why? Because we import most of our butter from countries like New Zealand! So, out of what little butter we do produce, how much is salted butter? Virtually none of it? I can never understand why, at a time when the farming industry is ... more
